Video: News crew on public property threatened with arrest for filming historic site and abandoned prison  News crew on public property threatened with arrest for filming historic site and abandoned prison             by July 30, 2014
It doesn’t get much more over the top than this. Talk about a petty tyrant completely overstepping his bounds! A corrections officer who said his name is Lieutenant Doren threatened a WNYT Channel 13 reporter and his cameraman with arrest for filming a vacant prison and a historical site where President Ulysses S. Grant died called Grant’s Cottage near Mount McGregor in New York State. All the filming was done from a public place. It is legal to film everything the eye can see from a public space everywhere in the United States. Lieutenant Doren started pinging on the reporter immediately and it is comical how misinformed this corrections officer is on filming public places. LT Doren called the New York State Police on the reporter and his cameraman to detain them and then ordered them to hand over the video that they had taken of the vacant prison facility and Grant’s Cottage. What a petty dictator! It appears the NY State Trooper was more informed in the law since the news crew kept the video footage that is seen in this video.
