Police in this State Are Suggesting a New Rule that is “Bonkers”

Governments are always spinning what they do as a way to protect people.  In this case, Topeka, Kansas cops say that they are trying to make sure that they make it home alive, but, when police departments are becoming increasingly militarized, who is really in danger here?
So, what are cops wanting you to do?
Put your hands in the air whenever you encounter a police officer.
Now, I don’t know about you, but this whole concept seems like a way to make people feel guilty before they even talk to a cop about anything.  Even more insidious, it makes it pretty darn difficult to film corrupt cops when you are looking at them with your hands in the air.  How are you going to film them breaking the law while they do it?
Officer Matt McClimans said:
“It doesn’t matter what the infraction is, it doesn’t matter if it’s a soccer mom, it’s just gaining that hand compliance. […] We have to treat every encounter as if it’s dangerous.”
They have to treat every encounter as if it’s dangerous? To civilians, maybe, but this just seems like a setup to keep us compliant and prevent accountability.
