The Senate Judiciary Committee had its first deposition Tuesday as part of a probe into the FBI’s improper surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, committee chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters.

Graham said he did not not remember who was deposed Tuesday. But the South Carolina Republican had asked Attorney General William Barr for permission to interview 17 Justice Department and FBI employees who were discussed in a Justice Department inspector general (IG) report about the bureau’s surveillance of Page.

President Trump called for “serious action” to be taken against Senator Chuck Schumer after the New York Democrat issued an explicit threat against Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch.

The startling scene took place at an extremist pro-abortion rally held in close proximity to the court itself.

“They’re taking away fundamental rights,” Schumer (D-NY) said of Republican legislators who defend the fundamental rights of babies.

He then pivoted to a direct threat.

“I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,” Schumer shouted, pointing a stern finger. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Georgia “Brandishing” Bill Passed By Panel

Brandishing a firearm is generally considered a crime, and there’s a reason for that. People shouldn’t just flash their guns around at the least provocation. The appearance of a gun can cause panic, after all.

Right?

Well, maybe. There are times, though, when pulling a firearm is enough to end a potential threat before that threat becomes too bad. Yet the law usually doesn’t make that distinction.

Now, in Georgia, a bill that would legalize “brandishing” has made it through its first hurdle.

A Georgia Senate panel approved legislation late Monday that would make it legal for a gun owner to pull or show their firearm during a dispute as long as he or she doesn’t “aim it offensively” at someone.

State Sen. Tyler Harper, an Ocilla Republican, said the legislation addresses a variety of issues gun rights advocates have with the state’s carry laws. The bill, which was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee on a 5-3 party-line vote, also would allow licensed gun owners to carry their weapons in churches and in courts when there are no judicial proceedings.

Under current law, a person who pulls a gun on someone faces a felony aggravated assault charge, which carries up to 20 years in prison.

“My argument is: just because I have a weapon on my person and I show that weapon, I should not be charged with a felony — a 20-year felony — for simply brandishing my firearm in my attempt to de-escalate what I consider a situation where I felt threatened,” Harper said.

But the Hapless Halfling dropped out, a half-billion bucks lighter, and he’s not just returning to his burrow. He’ll want to remain a Dem player – he’ll keep spending like an NFL superstar in the Champagne Room at the Peppermint Pasty gentleman’s club after getting his signing bonus paid in singles, and the Lil’ Loser hopes to make it rain until he drowns Donald Trump in a sea of greenbacks.
But the battle is really for the shriveled heart of the Democrat Party, and no one better represents the yin and the yang of that dying collection of power-hungry elitists and grasping greedos than the doddering socialist Sanders and that Biden guy who should by all rights be chasing that damn know-it-all squirrel around the park.

Schumer Apologizes After Controversial Supreme Court Remarks  ByAAN Staff




















Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) ignited a firestorm yesterday over his naked aggression directed at Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

New York’s senior senator told Gorsuch and Kavanaugh that “you will pay the price” and “you won’t know what hit you” if they rule against reproductive rights.

That prompted a stern rebuke from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who called Schumer’s remarks “dangerous.”

Schumer’s office fired back, claiming that Roberts had deliberately misinterpreted what Schumer said while remaining silent when President Trump chastised liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg last week.

This unprecedented exchange highlights how poisoned the relationship between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches has become.

Now, in a moment of lucidity, even Senator Schumer is apologizing.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer said his words “didn’t come out the way I intended to.”

“My point was that there would be political consequences for President Trump and Senate Republicans if the Supreme Court, with the newly confirmed justices, stripped away a woman’s right to choose,” he said. He added: “I’m from Brooklyn. We speak in strong language.”

A clip of Schumer’s speech circulated on social media and was condemned by conservatives, including President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who on Thursday said the words “at the very best…were astonishingly reckless and irresponsible” and “clearly…dangerous.”

“It has almost been a century since the last time Democrats threatened to pack the Supreme Court because they wanted different rulings. History still judges that disgraceful episode to this day,” McConnell said. “So I would suggest that my Democratic colleagues spend less time trying to threaten impartial judges, and more time coming up with ideas that are actually constitutional.”

In response to Schumer, Chief Justice John Roberts said, “All members of the court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.”

He is no stranger to making controversial statements and taking actions that raised more than just a few eyebrows. 
Ten years ago, political controversy swirled around plans for an Islamic community center and mosque near the site of the World Trade Center. Bloomberg was there at the center of it all, advocating on behalf of the project.
Let’s pause for a moment to be reminded of something, the 1st Amendment.

1. Coronavirus itself isn’t new. Just like influenza, coronavirus is a family of respiratory viruses, and there are multiple strains, which have the ability to change over time. Coronavirus is already common in the United States, and has been for years. I have personally cared for patients with this diagnosis.

2. Novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is the strain we’re hearing about in the news. It emerged in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019.

3. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Just like the flu and common cold, it is spread person to person via respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

4. According to the World Health Organization, as of February 26, there have been 2,918 confirmed cases of COVID-19 outside of China. 53 of these are in the United States. There have been 44 deaths, none in the United States. Compare this to influenza, which the CDC estimates will infect between 29,000,000 and 41,000,000 people in the United States alone during the 2019-20 season, resulting in 16,000 to 41,000 deaths.

5. “But there’s no cure!” You’re right. There’s no magic pill that cures the flu either. But there is a flu vaccine (that doesn’t cause autism) that can protect you from our most common respiratory viruses. Maybe go get one.

6. So, why are we panicking? Frankly, because the media tells us to. Manufacturing a pandemic is a great way to boost ratings, but everything science knows so far about COVID-19 has revealed it to be no more than yet another respiratory virus (and there are thousands).

7. The scariest part of COVID-19 isn’t the virus itself, it’s the resulting baseless mass paranoia. Hospitals are hoarding supplies, creating shortages of PPE necessary to protect healthcare workers and patients. Cities are refusing to house and treat sick people who have nowhere else to go. People are using the virus as an excuse for their own social prejudices.

So, what can you do? Turn off the TV and arm yourself with the facts. Stop the spread of false information.

And for Pete’s sake, wash your hands.
