Police: 8 shot at Brooklyn party; woman in critical condition

NEW YORK – Police say eight people have been shot at a party in Brooklyn, including a woman taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say shots rang out at a party at a residence at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday. They say the woman and seven other people who sustained non-life-threatening injuries have been transported to Kings County Hospital.
Police say there is no immediate word on the extent of the injuries or the identities of those who were hurt.
Police say no arrests have been made.

Charges Dismissed Against 8th-Grader Who Wore NRA T-Shirt
Speaking about the dismissal, Marcum's attorney Ben White said, "I think, with the gun issue, with what's going on, this is a victory for common sense."
On Wednesday, criminal charges against 14-year old Logan Middle School student Jared Marcum were Marcum's mother was grateful but expressed frustration: "It should have come sooner but it's done and we don't have to have that concern anymore about him having a criminal record."
The dismissal comes 70 days after Marcum wore an NRA T-Shirt to his Logan County, WV school and was told to take the shirt off. Marcum refused to do so, citing his First Amendment right to celebrate his Second Amendment rights. He was consequently charged with obstruction of justice.Speaking about the dismissal, Marcum's attorney Ben White said, "I think, with the gun issue, with what's going on, this is a victory for common sense."

The State Department confirmed a 21-year-old college student — Andrew Pochter of Chevy Chase, Md. — died a day while photographing battles between supporters and foes of the Islamist president.
Obama said the U.S. was in direct contact with the Egyptian government about security arrangements and was planning ahead for larger protests over the weekend.
