Former President Obama has also voiced concern over Biden's poll numbers.

The Wall Street Journal reported in December that Obama is among those on the left who fear a return of Trump to the presidency.

Obama "knows this is going to be a close race" and "feels that Democrats very well could lose," the report stated, noting the information came from a person "familiar with his [Obama's] thinking."

The former president also reportedly worries that the alternative to Biden on the Republican side would be "pretty dangerous for democracy."

The Washington Post reported recently that President Obama has expressed concern over the structure of Biden's campaign, and became "animated" during a discussion about the election with Biden.

"Obama has raised questions about the structure of President Biden’s re-election campaign, discussing the matter directly with Biden and telling the president’s aides and allies the campaign needs to be empowered to make decisions without clearing them with the White House," the outlet reported.

Who Has The SUPER Important ENCRYPTED Files That Disappeared?

(RightWing.org) – More than three years after the January 6 riots at the Capitol, the scandal continues to generate new plot twists. Now it’s emerged that the former House committee investigating the incident deleted a batch of encrypted files days before they had to hand them over to Republicans. Those files have now been recovered — but their contents are still hidden.

For 18 months, from July 2021 to January 2023, the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack made regular headlines with its probe into former president Donald Trump’s alleged role in the Capitol riot. That came to an end after the midterm elections when the Republicans gained a majority in the House. The Select Committee wound itself up and prepared to hand over to a new panel led by the GOP. The committee chair, Representative Bennie Thompson (D-MS) apparently told Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), who chairs the new committee set up to continue the investigation, that he would hand over four terabytes of data — but less than three terabytes were turned over.

Suspicious, Loudermilk hired a digital forensics team to investigate the former committee’s hard drives and discovered that 117 encrypted files had been deleted — just days before they should have been handed over. Loudermilk’s tech experts have now managed to recover all the deleted files, and they’ve already gleaned information from them. One of the files has already revealed testimony from someone whose name isn’t included in the Select Committee’s official archives.

There’s a problem; though; most of the files are password-protected, and the new panel doesn’t have the passwords. Loudermilk has now written to Thompson, asking him to provide the passwords so the information can be properly archived. At the same time, he’s also written to House officials requesting the full, “unedited and unredacted” transcripts of the testimony given by White House and Homeland Security officials.

Loudermilk told journalists it’s clear that the previous committee was trying to hide some of the evidence it had collected — and Thompson and renegade former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WA) had broken House rules by failing to archive all their information. Perhaps now the full truth about January 6 will come out.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to temporarily let U.S. Border Patrol agents cut or remove razor-wire fencing that Texas officials placed along part of Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to defend the state's border with Mexico and deter illegal border crossings.

The New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which issued the disputed interim ruling, is set to hear arguments on Feb. 7 over whether Border Patrol agents violated Texas law by cutting the razor-wire barrier.

The justices, in a 5-4 decision, granted a request by President Joe Biden's administration to pause a lower court's ruling that temporarily blocked federal agents from disturbing the fencing while litigation over the issue proceeds.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor sided with the administration. Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas voted with Texas.

None of the justices provided any explanation for their vote. The one-page order looks like a victory for the Biden administration, but it merely allows the Biden to clear the wire while the lawsuit over the wire continues.

Conservatives, including the CHQ team, were infuriated by the Supreme Court’s order.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) called on Texas officials to ignore the Supreme Court ruling declaring the federal government could remove razor wire on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roy called the opinion from the court “unconscionable,” and called for the state to ignore it in a post online.

“It’s like, if someone’s breaking into your house, and the court says ‘Oh, sorry. You can’t defend yourself.’ What do you tell the court?” Roy said according to reporting by Lauren Irwin of The Hill. “You tell the court to go to hell, you defend yourself and then figure it out later.”

And, as Governor Abbott said, “This is not over.”

By 1908, the time was right for a new kind of agency to protect America.

The United States was, well, united, with its borders stretching from coast to coast and only two landlocked states left to officially join the union. Inventions like the telephone, the telegraph, and the railroad had seemed to shrink its vast distances even as the country had spread west. After years of industrializing, America was wealthier than ever, too, and a new world power on the block, thanks to its naval victory over Spain.

But there were dark clouds on the horizon.

The country’s cities had grown enormously by 1908—there were more than 100 with populations over 50,000—and understandably, crime had grown right along with them. In these big cities, with their many overcrowded tenements filled with the poor and disillusioned and with all the ethnic tensions of an increasingly immigrant nation stirred in for good measure, tempers often flared. Clashes between striking workers and their factory bosses were turning increasingly violent.

And though no one knew it at the time, America’s cities and towns were also fast becoming breeding grounds for a future generation of professional lawbreakers. In Brooklyn, a nine-year-old Al Capone would soon start his life of crime. In Indianapolis, a five-year-old John Dillinger was growing up on his family farm. And in Chicago, a young child christened Lester Joseph Gillis—later to morph into the vicious killer “Baby Face” Nelson—would greet the world by year’s end.

But violence was just the tip of the criminal iceberg. Corruption was rampant nationwide—especially in local politics, with crooked political machines like Tammany Hall in full flower. Big business had its share of sleaze, too, from the shoddy, even criminal, conditions in meat packaging plants and factories (as muckrakers like Upton Sinclair had so artfully exposed) to the illegal monopolies threatening to control entire industries.

The technological revolution was contributing to crime as well. 1908 was the year that Henry Ford’s Model T first began rolling off assembly lines in Motor City, making automobiles affordable to the masses and attractive commodities for thugs and hoodlums, who would soon begin buying or stealing them to elude authorities and move about the country on violent crime sprees. Twenty-two years later, on a dusty Texas back road, Bonnie and Clyde—“Romeo and Juliet in a Getaway Car,” as one journalist put it—would meet their end in a bullet-ridden Ford.

Just around the corner, too, was the world’s first major global war—compelling America to protect its homeland from both domestic subversion and international espionage and sabotage. America’s approach to national security, once the province of cannons and warships, would never be the same again.

Despite it all, in the year 1908 there was hardly any systematic way of enforcing the law across this now broad landscape of America. Local communities and even some states had their own police forces, but at that time they were typically poorly trained, politically appointed, and underpaid. And nationally, there were few federal criminal laws and likewise only a few thinly staffed federal agencies like the Secret Service in place to tackle national crime and security issues.

One of these issues was anarchism—an often violent offshoot of Marxism, with its revolutionary call to overthrow capitalism and bring power to the common man. Anarchists took it a step further—they wanted to do away with government entirely. The prevailing anarchistic creed that government was oppressive and repressive, that it should be overthrown by random attacks on the ruling class (including everyone from police to priests to politicians), was preached by often articulate spokesmen and women around the world. There were plenty who latched onto the message, and by the end of the nineteenth century, several world leaders were among those who had been assassinated.

The anarchists, in a sense, were the first modern-day terrorists—banding together in small, isolated groups around the world; motivated by ideology; bent on bringing down the governments they hated. But they would, ironically, hasten into being the first force of federal agents that would later become the FBI.

It happened at the hands of a 28-year-old Ohioan named Leon Czolgosz, who after losing his factory job and turning to the writings of anarchists like Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman, took a train to Buffalo, bought a revolver, and put a bullet in the stomach of a visiting President McKinley.

Eight days later, on September 14, 1901, McKinley was dead, and his vice president Teddy Roosevelt took the oval office.

Call it Czolgosz’s folly, because this new President was a staunch advocate of the rising “Progressive Movement.” Many progressives, including Roosevelt, believed that the federal government’s guiding hand was necessary to foster justice in an industrial society. Roosevelt, who had no tolerance for corruption and little trust of those he called the “malefactors of great wealth,” had already cracked the whip of reform for six years as a Civil Service Commissioner in Washington (where, as he said, “we stirred things up well”) and for two years as head of the New York Police Department. He was a believer in the law and in the enforcement of that law, and it was under his reform-driven leadership that the FBI would get its start.

Biden Threatens to Use Military Jets On Law-Abiding American Citizens

President Joe Biden is once again threatening to use violence against American citizens who refuse to obey government rule.

Over the weekend, while speaking to reporters, Biden mocked a quote from Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

The quote suggests that Jefferson believes the American people should have the right to rebel against a tyrannical government. Biden said that if U.S. citizens really wanted to fight the government, they would need F-16 fighter jets.

“And I love people who say, the ‘blood of liberty,’ or excuse me, ‘the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots.’ Well, guess what, man, I didn’t see a whole lot of patriots that are out there walking around making sure that we have these weapons,” Biden said. “And if you really want to worry about the government, you need an F-16.”

This is not the first time Biden has threatened Americans with violence who refuse to follow a dictatorship. In June 2023, the president berated Second Amendment supporters, saying once again that they would need F-16 fighter jets in order to take on the American government.

Again, in 2022, Biden criticized “Right-wing Americans,” vowing to use drones and military jets on people who defy government rule.

“For those brave right-wing Americans who say it’s all about keeping Americans ‘independent and safe.’ If you want to fight against a country, you need an F-15,” Biden said. “You need something a little more than a gun.”

Texas’ Armed Standoff With the Feds

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is inciting a conflict between Border Patrol and the state’s National Guard that is inching closer and closer toward a violent clash between armed agents of state and federal law enforcement. The governor, as commander in chief of the Texas Guard, has directed his soldiers to block Border Patrol’s access to migrants, physically preventing federal officers from performing the duties assigned to them by Congress and the president. Abbott has received key assistance from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, which cleared the way for him to obstruct federal border enforcement.

Tensions on the ground are escalating by the hour, as the Texas Guard—emboldened by the 5th Circuit—is wiring off an ever-greater portion of the border. The Guard is refusing entry to all federal law enforcement and to active duty service members. Even in an emergency, like the potential drowning of a migrant, the Texas Guard will not let federal officers or service members through to the border. If the Supreme Court does not reverse the 5th Circuit very soon, there is a real possibility that Abbott’s partisan stunt will spiral into open battle between the state and federal governments.

The current dispute is yet another consequence of Operation Lone Star, Abbott’s cynical effort to usurp authority over immigration from the Biden administration. It’s also symptomatic of the failure of our judiciary and the Supreme Court’s inability, or lack of desire, to check radical Trump-placed judges below it that issue far-right rulings with devastating consequences for democracy and human rights. The multibillion-dollar “operation” in question here directs Texas Guardsmen and state troopers to police the southern border and arrest migrants who cross over without authorization. It has utterly failed to reduce unlawful border crossings, though it has produced egregious acts of cruelty toward migrants; guardsmen have tried to drown these individuals, deprived them of water, and left them to suffer heat exhaustion in the tangle of razor wire set up by the state.

If former President Donald Trump captures the Republican presidential nomination this year, his candidacy will be unavoidably enmeshed in the myriad legal issues he faces.

For Republicans seeking to turn the page from Trump, the former president's 91 criminal charges are a distraction from the 2024 campaign, which could be decided by the narrowest of margins in a handful of key swing states.

But for Republican lawmakers who are firmly behind Trump, the criminal charges have elicited scorn, with some senators arguing that voters are incensed about the ex-president's legal predicament because they believe he didn't commit any crimes.

In fact, among the GOP electorate, Trump's standing seems to be strengthening as he faces several upcoming trials; the former president won the Iowa caucus convincingly and will likely coast to victory in the New Hampshire Republican primary on January 23.

Sen. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming recently told The Huffington Post that to many members of the public, Trump's legal isssues  seem "fake."

WASHINGTON ― President Joe Biden said Friday he doesn't believe the U.S.-Mexico border is secure, giving an unusually blunt assessment on the state of surging migration as he pushes a deal in Congress for "massive changes" to address border security.

"No, it's not," Biden said when asked by a reporter whether the border is secure after he gave remarks before a bipartisan group of mayors at the White House. "I haven't believed that for the last 10 years, and I've said it for the last 10 years. Give me the money."

Biden, who has long avoided calling migration at the border a crisis, is seeking a deal for a supplemental spending package in Congress that would include border measures to bring Republicans on board to back more funding to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

Biden said he expects a border deal in place with Senate negotiators next week. But an agreement in the House is very much in doubt after House Speaker Mike Johnson, facing pressure from hardline Republicans, said this week that he doesn't believe "now is the time for comprehensive immigration reform."

"I believe we need significant policy changes, including anges in our asylum system to ensure we have the authorities we need to control the border," Biden said in his speech to the mayors. "I'm ready to act."

"Now the question is for the speaker and House Republicans," Biden continued, referring to Johnson. "Are they ready to act as well? They have to choose if they want to solve a problem or keep weaponizing me to score political points against the president. I'm ready to solve the problem. I really am. Massive changes. And I mean it sincerely."

Following his speech, Biden was also asked whether he believes his policies have contributed to surging migration at the border.

"No. I've asked for thousands more of everything from judges to − anyway" Biden said, before taking a different question.
