O'Reilly: NY Times' Benghazi Report Is 'Pure Bull,' Meant to Help Clinton

In his Talking Points Memo Thursday night, Bill O'Reilly went after the "seriously flawed" New York Times report that concluded al Qaeda was not involved in the Benghazi attack.

He called it "pure bull" for the paper to claim that the attack was not "meticulously planned" and was actually a response to an anti-Islam video.

O'Reilly specifically called out the Times reporters for not mentioning a Pentagon report from prior to the attack that highlighted links between Ansar al-Shariah - the group blamed for the attack - and al Qaeda.
The Times report was motivated by a desire to help Hillary Clinton's possible run for the White House, he argued, adding that the paper's "primary goal" is to help progressive causes and politicians.

"I could be wrong [about the Times' agenda], but I'm not wrong about the reporting. It is seriously flawed."
He then went on to discuss the report with Howard Kurtz, host of Media Buzz, and Bernie Goldberg.

Lots of things that should have happened in 2013 did not.
We were supposed to have long ago reached "peak oil" and an age of always-higher gas prices. Wind and solar power -- and a reduced lifestyle -- were our dismal future.
But someone or something did not cooperate with gloomy government predictions. After all the failed subsidized green companies, the postponement of the Keystone Pipeline, the radical restrictions of new gas and oil leasing on federal lands, and the promises for radical climate-change legislation curtailing carbon energy use, the United States nevertheless seems awash in old energy.
Gas prices have been going down. Oil and natural gas production is going up. America may soon be the largest coal exporter in the world. There is little worry over any more Middle East embargoes and cutoffs of oil.
Energy-intensive industries talk of relocating from Asia and Europe to a new America of cheaper electricity. The more the Obama administration wanted a landscape of alternative energy, the more it seemed traditional oil and natural gas gushed out of American soil.

Detroit police chief: Want crime to drop? Start carrying

A reorganization of the police force in the bankrupt metropolis has resulted in a higher clearance rate in murder cases, and the murder rate dropped almost 14% in 2013 from its two-decade high in 2012. However, Craig has some advice for his fellow citizens in Motor City if they really want a drop in crime — arm yourselves:

If more citizens were armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them, Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Thursday.

Urban police chiefs are typically in favor of gun control or reluctant to discuss the issue, but Craig on Thursday was candid about how he’s changed his mind.

“When we look at the good community members who have concealed weapons permits, the likelihood they’ll shoot is based on a lack of confidence in this Police Department,” Craig said at a press conference at police headquarters, adding that he thinks more Detroit citizens feel safer, thanks in part to a 7 percent drop in violent crime in 2013.FULL STORY

In what should come as no surprise to anyone, picking furniture up off the street and putting it in your home without thorough inspection is a bad idea.

After owning the couch for exactly one weekend, Holly Wright and her boyfriend were shocked to see the snake slithering out of the couch (which is exactly how you should feel when a large reptile unexpectedly emerges from a fixture in your house.)

     lesson to be learned..... What that is, we're not exactly sure. Perhaps make sure and check street furniture for snakes ? Or it could be keep snake food on hand for dying reptiles you didn't know you owned? Maybe just stop picking up mystery furniture off the street?
     While it's nice that this story didn't end with any poisonous snake bites or a nest of eggs hatching and wreaking havoc [a la snakes on a plane] there's still an important lesson to be learned.
     It's probably safe to say the couch was disposed of after the incident, so street-scouring residents of Grand Rapids be careful, and to everyone else, still be careful, snakes are everywhere.

Kim Jone Un's uncle Jang Song Thaek is dragged into court by uniformed personnel prior to last month's execution.

BEIJING -- North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's powerful uncle was stripped naked, thrown into a cage, and eaten alive by a pack of ravenous dogs, according to a newspaper with close ties to China's ruling Communist Party.

The man who was believed to be in charge of training his young nephew to take over was executed as a traitor, indicating a shake-up in Kim Jong Un's regime. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.

Jang Song Thaek, who had been considered Kim's second-in-command, was executed last month after being found guilty of "attempting to overthrow the state," North Korea’s state-run news agency reported.

"Despicable human scum...worse than a dog" is how North Korean state media described the once-powerful uncle of leader Kim Jong-un. Jang Song Thaek was executed after admitting trying to "overthrow the state".

Duck Dynasty Family Partners With Mossberg to Launch Gun Collection

The family starring in the hit A&E television show Duck Dynasty has partnered with gun company Mossberg to launch their own collection of shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and a semi-automatic pistol. According to CNN Money and Mossberg, the Robertson family will work on and sell the collection through their Duck Commander brand, which is family owned and separate from "Duck Dynasty" and the A&E network.

Phil Robertson and his sons are featured prominently in four video ads for the new guns on Mossberg's web site. Phil narrates one of the spots saying, "Do you know what makes me happy ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake's head smooth off."

Police: Man Stole Brains, Sold Them on eBay

Man arrested for stealing brain tissue from Indianapolis museum

Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing brain samples from an Indianapolis museum.

Investigators say 21-year-old David Charles broke into the Indiana Medical History Museum several times over the past year and stole jars of preserved human tissue. Police found Charles after learning about the tissues from a California man who told them he bought six jars of tissue on eBay for $600.
Police tracked Charles through Austin Rector, who had sold the jars to the man in California. After learning Charles had broken into the museum again early in the morning of December 15, police had Rector arrange to buy more jars of tissue from Charles.
Charles was arrested in the parking lot of a south Indianapolis restaurant after the purchase took place.
He is facing charges of burglary, theft and other charges related to apparent marijuana found in the suspect vehicle. Joshua Milan, 19, who drove Charles to the arranged sale, was preliminarily charged with theft and resisting law enforcement.

Since its launch, on Oct. 1, the site has been plagued by crashes as Americans to try log on and enroll for health insurance. The Obama administration has conceded that the launch has been rockier than it had hoped.
The U.S. arm of a Canadian company, CGI, had the biggest role of the many contractors that worked on the rollout. It won the contract in October 2011. At the time, it had an estimated cost of up to $94 million. By May of this year, that cost ceiling had swelled to $292 million.

Unable to comment on the "Duck Dynasty" controversy last week due to my hectic Kwanzaa schedule, I am able to sweep in at the end and comment on the commentary.

Anyone who utters the mind-numbingly obvious point that A&E's suspension of "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson doesn't involve the First Amendment because a TV network is not the government, should be prohibited from ever talking in public again. You can bore your few remaining friends with laborious statements of the obvious, but stop wasting everyone else's time.

We know A&E is not the government. It may shock your tiny little pea brains, but free speech existed even before we had a Constitution. Free speech is generally considered a desirable goal even apart from its inclusion in the nation's founding document.

Brewery to Starbucks: Here's $6

Starbucks asked a brewery to stop using the name "Frappicino," spelled similarly to its blended beverages.

ST. LOUIS — A small Missouri brewery has responded to a cease and desist letter from Starbucks the coffee chain giant a check to cover what it calls the profit from use of the word "Frappicino" by sending — a check for $6.

In his sarcastic response letter, Exit 6 owner Jeff Britton also wrote that the brewery "never thought that our beer drinking customers would have thought that the alcoholic beverage coming out of the tap would have actually been coffee from one of the many, many, many stores located a few blocks away."
Exit 6 posted the letter on its Facebook site and responded with a letter to Kramer and "Mr. Bucks."................. The letter said Exit 6 would no longer use the term "Frappicino" and would instead refer to its beer as the "F Word."

Building explodes in downtown Minneapolis

     What kind of man would set up a system in which people would be forced by law to risk their life savings, because they had to divulge their financial identification numbers to strangers who could turn out to be convicted felons?
     With all the time that elapsed between the passage of ObamaCare and its going into effect, why were the so-called "navigators" who were to be handling other people's financial records never investigated for criminal convictions? Awful: Two Suicide Bombings in 24 Hours Devastate Russian City

The city formerly known as Stalingrad suffered two presumed terrorist attacks in a twenty-four hour period. Dozens have been killed and many more have been wounded. The suicide bombings come only weeks before Russia is slated to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, and startlingly, it was the third terrorist attack in less than 96 hours:

Another deadly blast has rocked the Russian city of Volgograd, killing at least 14 people aboard a trolleybus during today's morning commute. The explosion comes a day after a suicide bombing in the city killed at least 17 people and injured more than 40.
The explosions raised concerns about terrorism six weeks before Russia hosts the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
At least 14 people died in the trolleybus explosion and at least 28 people injured, according to the Russian Health Ministry. A 5- to 7-month-old baby suffered multiple head injuries and was unlikely to survive, Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova said. The baby's gender has not been disclosed.
A total of 27 people are in hospitals, including three children, Skvortsova said. The condition of most patients is "from relatively satisfactory to moderately severe," she added.

After A&E announced “Duck Dynasty” will resume with Phil Robertson in 2014, GLAAD responded with a statement of outrage.
"Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists. If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people – especially its employees and viewers."
