The Federal Bagpipe Police?!? Daniel J. Mitchell | Aug 23, 2014

I’ve shared horror stories about government thuggery and I’ve shared horror stories about government stupidity.
Thanks to Mark Steyn, we have a story that exemplifies both the brain-dead nature of the public sector and the nasty nature of our bureaucratic overlords.
You may have read about the federal milk police. Well, here’s some of what Mark wrote about the Kafkaesque legal regime the federal government maintains for people who want to cross the border with….drugs? no…weapons? no…biological agents? no, nothing like that. We’re talking about bagpipes.
…17-year-old Campbell Webster and Eryk Bean, of Concord and Londonderry, New Hampshire – understood that if you go to a highland fling a couple of hours north in Quebec you’re now obligated to get your bagpipes approved by US Fish & Wildlife. …So Messrs Webster and Bean got their CITES certificate and presented it to the US CBP agent at the Vermont border crossing. Whereupon he promptly confiscated their bagpipes on the grounds that, yes, their US Fish & Wildlife CITES paperwork was valid, but it’s only valid at 28 ports of entry and this wasn’t one of them. Nor is any other US/Canadian land crossing.View Full Article
Calif. Lawmaker To Protest Mexican President's Visit Because Of
U.S. Marine Jailed In Mexico
GOP Donnelly.jpgPublished August 20, 2014   Fox News Latino  California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (AP)
A California state assemblyman plans to stage a protest outside the governor’s mansion next week to demand that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who is to be honored at luncheon there Aug. 26, ensure the release of a U.S. Marine held captive in Mexico.
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, who recently lost in a bid to become the Republican nominee in the gubernatorial election in November, declined an invitation to the luncheon and assailed Gov. Jerry Brown for hosting the luncheon in honor of the Mexican president.
"I am writing to decline your luncheon invitation,” read the letter Donnelly sent Brown, which the assemblyman made public, “and to express my deep disappointment that you would entertain the president of a nation that is holding an active-duty U.S. Marine captive."
Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi has said that he was headed to dinner in San Ysidro on March 31 when he mistakenly wound up at a border crossing in Tijuana.
"I was going to call them after I drove off the exit, but I never got off the exit, I blew right past it," he was quoted as telling the U-T San Diego newspaper in an interview from jail. “I wasn’t paying attention, thinking I had way farther to go. I ended up in Mexico with no way to turn around."
He said Mexican authorities found three guns inside the pick-up truck he had recently driven to California in a recent move from Florida to San Diego.
He was jailed and is being held in a federal penitentiary in Tecate without bail.
In his letter to Brown, Donnelly also took issue with the governor’s recent trip to Mexico and what he said was the governor’s failure to raise the issue of Tahmooressi's release.
"How you could visit Mexico and not publicly demand the release of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, is beyond me,” Donnelly said. “You had a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership by taking a stand for a California citizen that has put himself in harm’s way for our freedom."
The letter continued: “I know that my absence may distress you, but it may comfort you to know that I’ll be standing outside leading a protest, doing the job you should have done as the highest elected official in California: demanding the release of one of our own, our Marine, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi.”

Ten Commandments part of history, N.M. city leaders to say in appeal of court order  By Joseph J. Kolb  August 23, 2014  FoxNews.com

10commandments.jpg
Bloomfield, N.M., officials say this monument must stay for its historical importance.
The small, northwestern New Mexico city of Bloomfield is choosing orders handed down to Moses over one issued by a judge, but they say it is a matter of history, and not religion.
Leaders in the community of about 8,000, already under fire for refusing to remove a monument in front of City Hall, voted unanimously to appeal a federal court's order. The 4-0 vote, said city attorney Ryan Lane, stays the judge's order to remove the monument by the Sept. 10 deadline. Rather than fight the decision from the angle of freedom of speech and religion, Lane is going to present the monument as an historical document just like other monuments in the town depicting the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and Gettysburg Address.
" The city believes the Ten Commandments Historical Monument does not constitute government speech; rather, the city believes it has done nothing more than create a designated public forum in which private citizens have the opportunity to enact historical documents," Lane said.
The 5-foot tall monument was installed in front of the Bloomfield city hall on July 11, 2011. In 2012, the Albuquerque office of the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit in federal court on behalf of Jane Felix and Buford Clone who opposed the monument.
"It violates the fact that there should not be any specific religion put forth as a state religion," Felix told the Farmington Daily Times.
Felix is a self proclaimed high priestess among Wiccans, a witch-like cult.
In his decision last week, U.S. District Court Judge James Parker said the court considered the issue a closed case because of how the monument was more prominently placed than others. He said if it had been placed with the others, "the first amendment may not have been offended."
Lane said the monument was paid for and installed by the Four Corners Historical Project, not the city.

Was this Democrat D.A. Drunk When She Indicted Gov. Rick Perry?

It’s sad to say that the story you’re about to read isn’t made up.
Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg was pulled over for driving erratically in April of 2013. When officers pulled her out of her car and administered a field sobriety test, it was discovered she was well over the state’s legal limit.
She was three times over the state’s legal limit. (Maybe it was because she was driving with an open bottle of vodka in the car.)
The woman was an absolute mess at the stop, as you can see in the video below.

After Lehmberg was arrested and brought into custody, this senior law-enforcement official berated and verbally abused arresting officers, even making a finger gun (those are banned, right…) and pointing it at them.
After the incident, an investigation was opened up into the D.A.’s drinking habits and it was discovered that the D.A. had a little bit of a drinking problem (she bought 72 bottles from one liquor store alone over the course of a year).
So what does this have to do with Governor Rick Perry?
Following Lehmberg’s arrest, Perry had asked her to make make the responsible decision and step down from the office of District Attorney.
That’s the right call to make.
A disgraced D.A. who has no ability to follow the law of her own accord should be asked to step down. It’s only fitting.
Perry was even gracious enough the allow Democrats the ability to select her replacement.
But she wouldn’t step down, so Perry had to resort to other measures to make her budge.
The real twist is this.
According to Sarah Palin:
Lehmberg’s D.A.’s office runs the state’s Public Integrity Unit which prosecutes public crimes like government corruption. Texans were baffled that this clearly unfit official was running a unit with huge statewide importance and they lost confidence in this government oversight unit.
Governor Perry used appropriate tools under the Texas Constitution to urge Lehmberg to do the right thing, using line item veto power to defund the Public Integrity Unit until it could actually serve the public with integrity, under a leader who had integrity.
According to reports, he reached out to alleviate the Democrats’ fears about her replacement by promising to select her right hand man for the post – essentially giving liberals their desired replacement. All he wanted was for this unfit public official to step aside.
However, Lehmberg would have none of it, and is now on a mission to see that Perry is sentenced to prison time for using his authority to remove her from the position she was obviously unfit to serve.
Typical liberal Democrat, huh?
This is the nation we live in.
Democrats using ugly tactics to make it difficult for justice to be served.
Cops Pull Over Family at Gunpoint
08/23/2014                                                            Police say they were responding to a call of a driver waving a gun out a car window on a highway

Transcript for Cops Pull Over Family at Gunpoint        We have an extraordinary and perhaps for many of you infuriating piece of video to show you. Here it is. A law-abiding mom cuffed with four kids in the car.
Guns drawn. All a mistake apparently so why no apologies? ABC's Michelle Franzen is on the story.
Michelle, good morning. Even though police called the harrowing incident a big mistake officers say their actions were justified given they were following up on reports a driver was waving a gun outside a window on a highway and that is where this troubling mistake involving the Texas mom began. Let me see your hands.
Everybody stick their hands out the window. Reporter: This shocking dash cam video shows a young mother being pulled over at gunpoint. She was driving four children under the age of 10 home when she was suddenly stopped by police.
What is wrong? Get in the car. My kids.

Caused by that black male you are standing with  and (sharpton, and obambam) and all those who want to claim they must commit crimes because they are suppressed by whites because of their slave lineage....
Speaking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, film director Spike Lee alleged that the Michael Brown shooting and similar incidents are part of a “war on the black male” in America. “So what do you say to those largely white Americans who see what is happening here?” Cooper asked. “You know what many people said to me just today, look, this isn’t just about Michael Brown, this is about generations of issues that have gone on in this community and continued to go on in this community. Is that how you see it?”

New Fear: What Happens in Ferguson If No Charges?  FERGUSON, Mo. — Aug 22, 2014, By SARA BURNETT and JIM SALTER Associated Press
PHOTO: A man watches as police walk through a cloud of smoke during a clash with protesters in Ferguson, Mo., Aug. 13, 2014.
Conditions calmed this week in Ferguson after nights of sometimes violent unrest stemming from the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old by a white police officer. But a delicate and crucial question lingers: What happens if the grand jury now considering the case doesn't return a charge against the officer?
The fear among some local residents and officials trying to maintain peace in Ferguson is that failure to charge the officer could stoke new anger among a community profoundly mistrustful of the legal system. Many say they just hope the grand jury's decision, whatever it is, has irrefutable facts to back it up.

Rick Perry Doesn’t ‘Really Understand the Details’ of  Indictment
2016PerryNewHampsh SW 16x9 608 Rick Perry Doesnt Really Understand the Details of Indictment

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Texas Gov. Rick Perry returned to New Hampshire Friday for the first time since 2012, as he tries to rehab his political image after a failed presidential bid.
Speaking to a group of business leaders here, Perry tried to focus on substance, talking about issues like economic development and the border crisis, but his recent indictment on two felony charges was hard to ignore.

Asked about his indictment during a question-and-answer session with business leaders, Perry was a little unclear when explaining what felony charges were issued against him.
“I’ve been indicted by that same body now for I think two counts, one of bribery, which I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t really understand the details here,” Perry said of the grand jury that indicted him.
A grand jury indicted Perry last week on two felony counts – abuse of official capacity and coercion of a publc official – over a 2013 veto threat.

It seems like the world, or at least the media world, is obsessed with the happenings in Ferguson, Mo. No detail is too insignificant to speculate about, no matter how wild the speculation. I know more about it than I should, and I bet you do too.

We’ve been marinated in best guesses, wild speculation, hypotheticals and enough flat-out lies to make Tommy Flanagan blush. At this point, about the only thing we don’t know is what actually happened. But even after all this, I still can’t bring myself to care about any of it.

LIKE I'VE BEEN SAYING.......THE MEDIA

No Facts, NoPeace  Ann Coulter | Aug 21, 2014

It's important to remember that, in police shooting cases like the one in Ferguson, Missouri, the initial facts are often wrong. You don't want to end up looking like Rich Lowry, National Review editor, whose March 23, 2012, column on the Trayvon Martin shooting was titled, "Al Sharpton Is Right."
Early accounts are especially unreliable when reporters think they have a white racism story. Stirring up racial hatred is how journalists make up for sending their own kids to lily-white private schools.
As detailed in my book Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama, the old media's standard for any police shooting of a black person is: "Racist until proved innocent." We got three-alarm racism stories for the shootings of Jose (Kiko) Garcia, Eleanor Bumpurs, Michael Stewart and Edmund Perry.

‘I’m The Attorney General, But I’m Also a Black Man’: Eric Holder Stirs Racial Tension in Ferguson

Attorney General Eric Holder arrived in Ferguson, Missouri on Wednesday to oversee the federal investigation into the shooting of Michael Brown and spoke with residents about how the case isn’t just about a police shooting but about living as a black man in America.
“I am the Attorney General of the United States, but I am also a black man,” Holder said, speaking to Ferguson residents at a community meeting. “I can remember being stopped on the New Jersey turnpike on two occasions and accused of speeding. Pulled over… ‘Let me search your car’… Go through the trunk of my car, look under the seats and all this kind of stuff. I remember how humiliating that was and how angry I was and the impact it had on me.”
“At the time that [officer] stopped me, I was a federal prosecutor,” Holder added. “I wasn’t a kid. I was a federal prosecutor. I worked at the United States Department of Justice.”
“The eyes of the nation and the world are watching Ferguson right now,” Holder continued. “The world is watching because the issues raised by the shooting of Michael Brown predate this incident. This is something that has a history to it, the history simmers beneath the surface in more communities than just Ferguson.”
The Justice Department is investigating a possible civil rights violation related to the shooting. In an unusual move, Holder has ordered a federal autopsy, the third autopsy to be performed on Brown’s body.
“Our investigation is different,” Holder told reporters. “We’re looking for possible violations of federal civil rights statutes.”.............If they don't find any, he can always make up a few !!!

BLACK Salt Lake City police officer shot and killed  UNARMED 20-year-old Dillon Taylor outside a convenience store Aug. 11, 2014.

While national news media continue to focus on race in Ferguson, Missouri, where a white police officer shot and killed an unarmed black teenager, they apparently don’t think a similar case in Utah with the races reversed is that newsworthy.

Police in Salt Lake City are continuing their probe into an Aug. 11 shooting outside a 7-Eleven convenience store, when a black police officer, whom local media are referring to as “not white,” shot and killed 20-year-old Dillon Taylor, who is white and was unarmed at the time, according to his supporters.

Police Chief Chris Burbank said the entire incident was captured on the body camera of the officer who shot Taylor.

“You will see on camera … the actions of everyone involved, including up to the point where our officer utilizes deadly force and his response thereafter,” Burbank told reporters.

If the "media" wouldn't write about them [sharpton and jackson] like they are celebrities, would soon lose thier followers

The Media's Sharpton Agenda in Ferguson        By Brent Bozell

The late media critic Edwin Diamond once notably quipped that to the American news media, "10,000 deaths in Nepal equals 100 deaths in Wales equals 10 deaths in West Virginia equals one death next door." When it comes to race relations, a similar rule applies. 400,000 civilians have been
murdered in Darfur, but one death of a black man in Missouri, allegedly due to white police brutality, is infinitely more newsworthy. The national media are currently obsessed with Michael Brown's killing by a policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, just as they obsessed over Trayvon Martin's killing in Sanford, Florida.

Does it really matter WHERE she said "bless you" ? THE GIRL IS 18 YEARS OLD and we do have [supposedly] FREEDOM of religion and of speech, so WHAT'S THE PROBLEM TEACHERS ?

Student punished for saying "bless you"By   August 20, 2014   FoxNews.com

Kendra Turner was brought up right. She’s the kind of kid who says “yes sir” and “no ma’am.”  She was "raised up right," with good manners as they are prone to say around Dyersburg, Tennessee.
So it was not out of character for Kendra to say “bless you” after a fellow classmate sneezed. But that common courtesy landed the 18-year-old in hot water.
Kendra said she was rebuked by her teacher at Dyer County High School and thrown out of class for violating the teacher’s ban on the words “bless you.”
The school would have us believe that a child telling a classmate “bless you” after a sneeze somehow caused a classroom commotion so severe it warranted a punishment? It’s a good thing Kendra didn’t offer her classmate a tissue.

The president, in brief remarks from Martha's Vineyard, said the video of James Foley's death "shocks the conscience," while vowing to continue the fight against the organization which has taken root across swaths of Iraq and Syria. He called for a "common effort" across the Middle East to "extract this cancer so it does not spread."
Military analysts and U.S. lawmakers also say the execution should be a wake-up call to the need to dismantle the militant organization.

Supporters of Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi (l.), say the Obama administration has forgotten him while going to great lengths to free Army St. Bowe Bergdahl, (r.).
The Obama administration’s extraordinary effort to free Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has some wondering why the president can’t make a simple phone call on behalf of a former Marine being held in a Mexican prison after mistakenly driving across the border with registered guns.
Obama announced Saturday in a dramatic Rose Garden news conference that five Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo Bay would be exchanged for Bergdahl, a 28-year-old infantryman held captive for five years by the terrorist group. The swap angered many in the military and on Capitol Hill, because it went against long-standing policy of not bargaining with terrorists.

"OVERZEALOUS" To say the least, I think the Feds are behind these charges because of his actions on the border WHY ELSE ?

NYT Editoral Board: The Indictment Against Rick Perry "Appears" to be "Overzealous" Daniel Doherty | Aug 19, 2014

Add the New York Times editorial board to the growing list of constitutional scholars, journalists, and political operatives who find the curious indictment against Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) to be a farce. The board doesn’t go as far as defending his tenure or his policies (in fact, they do the opposite) but they do nevertheless feel as if he is the victim of an “overzealous prosecution”:
Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is one of the least thoughtful and most damaging state leaders in America, having done great harm to immigrants, abortion clinics and people without health insurance during his 14 years in office. But bad political judgment is not necessarily a felony, and the indictment handed up against him on Friday — given the facts so far — appears to be the product of an overzealous prosecution.
For more than a year, Mr. Perry has been seeking the resignation of the Travis County district attorney, Rosemary Lehmberg. He had good reason to do so: Ms. Lehmberg was arrested in April 2013 for driving with a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit, and she verbally abused the officers who found her with an open bottle of vodka. She ranted and raved at the local jail, threatening sheriff’s deputies, and she had to be restrained in a chair with a hood over her head. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45 days in jail. In addition to endangering people’s lives, she instantly lost her credibility as a prosecutor of drunken-driving cases.

Cell phone video shows a skateboarder violently attack a park ranger in LOVE Park Friday afternoon.
Philadelphia Police are investigating a cell phone video showing a skateboarder kicking a city park ranger in his head and then spitting on the man in Philadelphia's LOVE Park Friday. The 35-year-old park ranger approached three teen skateboarders and advised them they could not skate in the park.
"I ain't (explective) leaving," said one skateboarder before punching the park ranger in the face and wrestling him to the ground.
The violent altercation occurred around 5 p.m. in the iconic Center City park, located at 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, according to Mariano Verrico, of Essex Fells, N.J., who caught the fight on camera.
"He got kicked in the head repeatedly and spit on," Verrico said. "When he was down towards the end..., the one kid who did everything leaned down and spit on him. It was really disgraceful."
