Donald Trump's triumphant march to the nomination in Cleveland, virtually assured by his five-state sweep Tuesday, confirms it, as does his foreign policy address of Wednesday.
Two minutes into his speech before the Center for the National Interest, Trump declared that     the "major and overriding theme" of his administration will be -- "America first." Right    down   the smokestack!  
Gutsy and brazen it was to use that phrase, considering the demonization of the great anti-war movement of 1940-41, which was backed by the young patriots John F. Kennedy and his brother Joe, Gerald Ford and Sargent Shriver, and President Hoover and Alice Roosevelt.
Whether the issue is trade, immigration or foreign policy, says Trump, "we are putting the American people first again." U.S. policy will be dictated by U.S. national interests.
By what he castigated, and what he promised, Trump is repudiating both the fruits of the Obama-Clinton foreign policy, and the legacy of Bush Republicanism and neoconservatism.
When Ronald Reagan went home, says Trump, "our foreign policy began to make less and less sense. Logic was replaced with foolishness and arrogance, which ended in one foreign policy disaster after another."
He lists the results of 15 years of Bush-Obama wars in the Middle East: civil war, religious fanaticism, thousands of Americans killed, trillions of dollars lost, a vacuum created that ISIS has filled.

Is he wrong here? How have all of these wars availed us? Where is the "New World Order" of which Bush I rhapsodized at the U.N.?
Can anyone argue that our interventions to overthrow regimes and erect democratic states in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen have succeeded and been worth the price we have paid in blood and treasure, and the devastation we have left in our wake?
George W. Bush declared that America's goal would become "to end tyranny in our world." An utterly utopian delusion, to which Trump retorts by recalling John Quincy Adams' views on America: "She goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy."
To the neocons' worldwide crusade for democracy, Trump's retort is that it was always a "dangerous idea" to think "we could make Western democracies out of countries that had no experience or interest in becoming Western democracies."
We are "overextended," he declared, "We must rebuild our military." Our NATO allies have been freeloading for half a century. NAFTA was a lousy deal. In running up $4 trillion in trade surpluses since Bush I, the Chinese have been eating our lunch.
This may be rankest heresy to America's elites, but Trump outlines a foreign policy past generations would have recognized as common sense: Look out for your own country and your own people first.

Instead of calling President Putin names, Trump says he would talk to the Russians to "end the cycle of hostility," if he can.
"Ronald Reagan must be rolling over in his grave," sputtered Sen. Lindsey Graham, who quit the race to avoid a thrashing by the Donald in his home state of South Carolina.
But this writer served in Reagan's White House, and the Gipper was always seeking a way to get the Russians to negotiate. He leapt at the chance for a summit with Mikhail Gorbachev in Geneva and Reykjavik.
"Our goal is peace and prosperity, not war," says Trump, "unlike other candidates, war and aggression will not be my first instinct."
Is that not an old and good Republican tradition?
Dwight Eisenhower ended the war in Korea and kept us out of any other. Richard Nixon ended the war in Vietnam, negotiated arms agreements with Moscow, and made an historic journey to open up Mao's China.
Reagan used force three times in eight years. He put Marines in Lebanon, liberated Grenada and sent FB-111s over Tripoli to pay Col. Gadhafi back for bombing a Berlin discotheque full of U.S. troops.

Reagan later believed putting those Marines in Lebanon, where 241 were massacred, to be the worst mistake of his presidency.
Military intervention for reasons of ideology or nation building is not an Eisenhower or Nixon or Reagan tradition. It is not a Republican tradition. It is a Bush II-neocon deformity, an aberration that proved disastrous for the United States and the Middle East.
The New York Times headline declared that Trump's speech was full of "Paradoxes," adding, "Calls to Fortify Military and to Use It Less."
But isn't that what Reagan did? Conduct the greatest military buildup since Ike, then, from a position of strength, negotiate with Moscow a radical reduction in nuclear arms?
"We're getting out of the nation-building business," says Trump.
"The nation-state remains the true foundation for happiness and harmony." No more surrenders of sovereignty on the altars of "globalism."
Is that not a definition of a patriotism that too many among our arrogant elites believe belongs to yesterday?

Friday Fun: Farmer Sprays Manure at Hollywood Star for Fracking Protest on His Land  Leah Barkoukis  Apr 29, 2016

This video is almost certain to start your day off right. One U.K. farmer got so mad at Oscar winning actress Emma Thompson and her sister for breaking a court injunction protecting a fracking site on his land that he sprayed raw manure at them.

The stars were filming a Great British Bake Off parody for Greenpeace when the owner of the field they trespassed on drove his muck spreader in circles around the demonstrators. 
   A group of protesters were hit by the manure but the actresses remained dry in their tent, complete with Bake Off-inspired bunting.
   Police were also called and also spoke to the actresses, who climbed over a gate and set up camp on land earmarked for gas exploration in Fylde, Lancashire.
   Emma and Sophie, who won Celebrity Masterchef, filmed a pastiche episode of the Great British Bake Off called Frack Free Bake Off to voice their opposition to the fracking plans.
   But this afternoon the landowner, who leases the contested patch of land to fracking company Cuadrilla, drove his muck spreader in circles around the demonstrating group.
   After a couple of circles around the group, who were shouting for him to stop it, the farmer drove off. 
   Protesters are banned from the site, near Preston, after company Cuadrilla applied for an injunction in 2014.
   It is not clear if the fracking company will now take civil action - but it appears unlikely.

It’s too bad he wasn’t able to get close enough but it was a valiant effort nonetheless.

The U.S. Secret Service is planning to heighten the fence surrounding the White House after numerous attempts by fence jumpers to breach the property.  Republican frontrunner Donald Trump reminded Obama that building walls helps keep people who do not belong out.
“President Obama understands that you build strong, tall, beautiful walls to keep people out   who don't belong,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “People who get permission can enter the     White House LEGALLY!”  


The U.S. Secret Service plans to raise the height of the White House security fence by 5 feet and add a new concrete foundation. 
“The current fence simply is not adequate for a modern era. We’ve said that before. It is becoming more and more acutely clear that that is in fact the case,” Secret Service official Tom Dougherty said in the briefing to federal officials.
The agency, along with the National Park Service, said it intends to begin building a “taller, stronger” fence in the coming year.

‘Racist’ Noose Drawing Leads to Two Black Students

When Salisbury University police discovered that someone drew a stick figure hung by a noose on the school library’s whiteboard, they launched a hate crime investigation.

But after realizing it was two black students who drew the picture – which showed the hangman crying, included the N-word with an arrow pointed at the stick figure, as well as the message #whitepower –  they decided not to press criminal charges, The Delmarva Daily Times reports.

English Associate Professor James King told The SU Flyer that the school’s investigation identified the students responsible for the racist drawing, which was originally discovered April 10.

“I confirm two students have been identified,” he said, “and are both African American.”

Anti-Trump Protests Turn Violent at Southern California Rally

Raucous protesters and supporters of Donald Trump took to the streets in California leading to some 20 arrests as the Republican presidential contender brought his campaign to conservative Orange County after sweeping the Northeast GOP primaries.
Dozens of protesters were mostly peaceful Thursday as Trump gave his speech inside the Pacific Amphitheatre. After the event, however, the demonstration grew rowdy late in the evening and spilled into the streets.
Approximately 20 people were arrested by Costa Mesa police, according to a tweet from the Orange County Sheriff's Department. One Trump supporter had his face bloodied in a scuffle as he tried to drive out of the arena. One man jumped on a police car, leaving its front and rear windows smashed and the top dented in and other protests sprayed graffiti on a police car and the venue's marquee.
Dozens of cars — including those of Trump supporters trying to leave — were stuck in the street as several hundred demonstrators blocked the road, waved Mexican flags and posed for selfies.

Italian authorities arrested four people suspected of extremism on Thursday and issued arrest warrants for two more operating in Syria, according to the Milan prosecutor.
Authorities said one of the suspects is a Moroccan-born national living in Italy who had received orders from the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) to conduct an attack in Rome during the Holy Year, a period announced by Pope Francis that lasts from December 2015 to November 2016.
The man, who authorities named as Abderrahim Moutahrrick, is reported to have received a WhatsApp message from ISIS-held territory that read: “Dear brother Abderrahim, I send you... the bomb poem... listen to the sheik and strike,” in reference to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Milan prosecutor Maurizio Romanelli said that Moutahrrick planned to attack the Vatican and the Israeli embassy in Rome and told one of the other suspects, 23-year-old Moroccan-born Abderrahmane Khachia, in a monitored conversation: “I want to hit Israel in Rome.”

    Listening to Cruz always makes me feel like I have Asperger's. He speaks so slowly, my mind wanders between words. As Trump said, there's a 10-second intermission between sentences. I want to order Cruz's speeches as Amazon Audibles, just so I can speed them up and see what he's saying
The guy did go to Harvard Law School, so I keep waiting for the flashes of brilliance, but they never come. Cruz is completely incapable of extemporaneous wit.

Now that Cruz has been mathematically eliminated, he's adding Carly Fiorina to the ticket. She's not his "running mate," but his "limping mate." It's an all-around lemon-eating contest.

Judge: “100% Certain FBI will Indict and Convict Hillary”

The biggest question surrounding the 2016 election is will Obama’s regime allow the FBI to indict Hillary Clinton.
Many believe there is no way Obama will permit the FBI to bring charges against Hillary and wreck the election for the Democrat Party.
But one Fox News legal analyst blows that theory out of the water.
In an interview on the O’Reilly Factor, Judge Napolitano made the strongest case yet as to why Hillary will be charged and convicted for mishandling classified intelligence on her private email server.
Mediaite reports:

“On Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor” Napolitano went a step even further saying “the evidence of her guilt is overwhelming.” He also claims that he is ‘100-percent certain’ that the FBI has enough to indict and convict her.
“The evidence is overwhelming to conclude, overwhelming to anyone that observed what she did,” he said.
“The FBI is at the very end of its investigation, it is in the second to last phase, it has invited Mrs. Clinton’s five closest advisers, former and present .. in for interviews. They have hired the same lawyer and they have agreed to go in,” Napolitano said. He said he doesn’t know if the aides have actually gone in but the invitation was issued about 2 1/2 weeks ago.”

Trump Rebukes Charles Koch: 'I Got My Own Money'

GOP front-runner Donald Trump on Wednesday said he does not need the support of billionaire businessman Charles Koch.
In an interview with Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM, Trump said, "What he says bears no relationship on what I do or say. I don't need his money. I got my own money," while also suggesting politicians who take Koch's donations are "puppets."

Charles and his brother David Koch are well-known GOP donors, who have donated large amounts of cash to conservative causes.
The real estate mogul said benefiting from the Kochs' support requires a candidate to follow their orders and he isn't interested.
Trump said his comments about the Kochs were nothing personal, telling Breitbart, "I've always liked the Kochs, they're members of my club in Palm Beach."

Charles Koch, the CEO of Koch Industries, told ABC News in an interview published Monday, Trump's call for a ban on Muslims was "reminiscent of Nazi Germany" and based on the slate of Republican candidates, "it's possible" that he would support Hillary Clinton.
Trump told Breitbart Koch's statement suggesting he might support Clinton instead of the GOP nominee "were not very good for the Republican Party and that's too bad."
"I'm going to do what's right for the American people," said Trump. "And he can have his puppets, and they're all over the place."
"You have a lot of people that need him, and I don't need him at all," Trump told Breitbart. "One of the reasons he wouldn't like me is because I don't need him, and I won't do what he tells me to do, because I couldn't care less."

According to an editorial on NJ.com, Koch suggesting he might support Clinton points out that he is "starting to sense that the war is lost."

A Baltimore police detective shot a boy in East Baltimore on Wednesday afternoon who he wrongly believed was carrying a semiautomatic pistol, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said.

The boy suffered what police called non-life-threatening injuries to a "lower extremity," Davis said. The weapon turned out to be spring-air-powered BB gun — not a real firearm.

The boy's mother identified him as 14-year-old Dedric Colvin, an eighth-grader at City Springs Middle School. Volanda Young said her son was shot once in the shoulder and once in the leg.

The incident came on the day city officials marked the one-year anniversary of the Freddie Gray riots.

It has recently come to my attention — that is to say, his yelling woke me up during a few of my early-evening naps — that Bill O’Reilly has become noticeably more angry over the past week or so. Those of you who do not keep your televisions tuned to the Fox News prime-time lineup may say, “But wait: Isn’t anger O’Reilly’s thing? His shtick? His go-to mood?” Not at all, comrades. O’Reilly prides himself on his firm but folksy delivery; indeed, his favorite phrase is “the folks” — his blanket term for his audience and all Americans who are not the media or members of (his other fave phrase) “the far left.”

And so it’s striking to hear how steamed up he’s getting these days when imparting his wisdom via the “Talking Points Memo” that begins each edition of The O’Reilly Factor. Last Monday, O’Reilly addressed what he termed “The Big Lie of the 2016 Campaign.” The “lie”? Oh, you know without me telling you: that politicians are “deceiving Americans into believing that their success and well-being will be almost assured by a federal nanny state” — i.e., increasing aid to those less fortunate than people in Bill O’Reilly’s income bracket.

For all the flack Donald Trump gets for his bigoted comments, his bombastic rhetoric and his embrace of some of the worst parts of our society – Ted Cruz has done the same thing. The main difference between Cruz and Trump (besides the fact that Cruz is a religious fanatic) is that Cruz is smart enough to keep his inflammatory rhetoric out of presidential debates and big rallies. Instead, his bigotry and ignorance is shown in more subtle ways.

Last spring when floods ravaged Texas, Cruz begged the federal government for money to help. This wouldn’t be much of a story until you realize that the hypocrite voted against funding following Hurricane Sandy.

Donald Trump has risen to frontrunner status in the Republican race for president by saying what others are afraid to.
And as he inches closer to securing the Republican nomination, he has taken aim at Hillary Clinton as his next target.
What he recently said he would do as president about the criminal investigation surrounding Hillary left mouths agape in the media and in Washington.
In an interview with Bill O’Reilly, Trump predicted the Obama regime would not bring criminal charges against Hillary.
But while Obama may cover up her criminal activity now, Trump pointed out the next president could have a say in pursuing the matter further.
And his comments won’t make Hillary or her supporters happy.

Here’s another instance of New York values for you: school kids can’t sing the national anthem at the 9/11 Memorial, unless they pay $35 for a permit. On April 22, the school choir of North Carolina’s Waynesville Middle School thought they were engaging in a harmless and patriotic exercise of singing the national anthem. Apparently, two security guards thought otherwise, and stopped them about midway through their rendition. The teacher, Martha Brown, and the students thought it would be a nice gesture to show their respect for the victims of our nation’s most terrible terrorist attack. She did tell the guard that they did not have written permission to sing, but got verbal approval from another security guard earlier that day.

Chernobyl 30 Years Later: A Tour Inside the Ghost Town The clean-up operation around the worst nuclear disaster is still continuing

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine, the worst nuclear accident in history.

In the early hours of April 26, 1986, Soviet engineers inadvertently set off a catastrophic explosion in reactor 4 of the plant while running a routine test. The blast and subsequent fire that raged for days spread radioactive contamination across huge areas, reaching as far as the United States.

Over 3 million people were affected and eventually 300,000 were evacuated. Soviet authorities, after initially trying to conceal the disaster from the outside world and their own people, created a 30-kilometer exclusion zone around the destroyed reactor, resettling the tens of thousands who had lived there.

Video uploaded by YouTube user Chuck Netzhammer showed Walmart employees refusing to make him a cake with the Confederate flag depicted, but subsequently agreeing to make him a much more controversial design showing the ISIS flag.
In the video (below), Netzhammer — from Slidell, Louisiana, explained that he went to Walmart and requested a Confederate flag cake, which the store rejected.
“I went back and asked to get an ISIS battle flag printed,” he said, before the video cut to a shot of the ISIS cake being opened.
“That’s an ISIS flag cake that anyone can go buy at Walmart,” he explained. “But you can’t buy a Confederate flag toy like, say, Dukes of Hazzard’s car.”

The judge refused to dismiss the lawsuit – brought by ten families affected by the December 2012 massacre – against the maker of the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle used in the shooting.
