House Democrats aren't all that concerned with the IRS's abuse and targeting of tea party groups. Instead, they are upset at the IRS inspector general for looking into the matter:
"Congressional Democrats have revived their interest in Russell George, the Treasury inspector general that outlined the IRS's targeting of Tea Party groups, with a pair of lawmakers filing a formal ethics complaint.
Democrats have for months said that George, Treasury's inspector general for tax administration, crafted a flawed, misleading report that helped fan the flames of the IRS targeting controversy."

Taliban: U.S. Will Meet Same Fate as Soviets in Afghanistan
KABUL - The Taliban called on Afghans to expel the United States from Afghanistan on Saturday just as they said Afghan mujahideen fighters had done to Soviet forces 25 years ago to the day.
In a statement issued on the 25th anniversary of the final Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, a national holiday for Afghans, the Taliban sought to connect the steady departure of U.S. and NATO troops ahead of a year-end deadline to the end of the decade-long Soviet occupation.
"Today America is facing the same fate as the former Soviets and trying to escape from our country," the Taliban said in a statement emailed to reporters by Qari Yousef Ahmadi, a spokesman for the group.
"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is calling on its people to deal with today's invaders the same they did with the yesterday's invaders," he said, using the name the Taliban government used during its repressive 1996-2001 rule.
In line with the so-called Geneva accords, a last convoy of Soviet soldiers crossed a bridge connecting northern Afghanistan with the then-Soviet Union on February 15, 1989.
"We want to remind the Americans that we did not accept invaders with their sweet and nice slogans in the past. We eliminated them from the world map. God willing, your destiny will be the same," the statement said.
Last week, a former TSA agent published a blistering account of TSA ignorance, arrogance and buffoonery. The TSA, naturally, denied all the charges, saying the agency "does not tolerate any form of unethical or unlawful behavior by its employees." Then we readthis:"A cancer victim who suffers from incontinence was humiliated during an incident last week when a TSA agent loudly announced 'he's wearing a diaper' to waiting travelers, before laughing and subjecting the man to a strip search."REST OF STORY
Justice Antonin Scalia says World War II-style internment camps could happen again
Justice Antonin Scalia predicts that the Supreme Court will eventually authorize another a wartime abuse of civil rights such as the internment camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II.
"You are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again," Scalia told the University of Hawaii law school while discussing Korematsu v. United States, the ruling in which the court gave its imprimatur to the internment camps.
The local Associated Press report quotes Scalia as using a Latin phrase that means "in times of war, the laws fall silent," to explain why the court erred in that decision and will do so again.
"That's what was going on — the panic about the war and the invasion of the Pacific and whatnot," Scalia said. "That's what happens. It was wrong, but I would not be surprised to see it happen again, in time of war. It's no justification but it is the reality."
We conservatives are principled, there’s no doubt about that. Unfortunately, far too many of us have the strategic sense of a beginning checkers player at the World Chess Championship. To put it bluntly – we’re idiots. I use “we” because I’ve been guilty of this as well. But I’m not a part of the current Olympic-level “shooting ourselves in the foot” contest. This time, we need to put emotion aside and think. Conservatives got bent out of shape this week over the “clean debt limit increase” that passed the House of Representatives. Is it sad? Absolutely. Was there any real choice in the matter? Absolutely not. Democrats have nothing to offer the American public. They’re empty. We’re living the result of their dreams. Obamacare has been a disaster. Their economic policies have driven the hope of finding work out of more people in the last five years than have found jobs. Our standing in the world has never been lower. READ MORE
Obama, Biden to Dems: Hang in There
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have a message for House Democrats: Hang in there.
Addressing the House Democratic Caucus Friday during a retreat in Cambridge, Md., the president and his second-in-command both urged Democrats to focus on their successes despite a looming midterm election cycle unlikely to break their way.
Obama praised House Democrats for their “courage and unity and discipline” in helping to get a clean debt ceiling extension across the finish line earlier this week.
And he was greeted with applause for noting encouraging new Affordable Care Act enrollment numbers, predicting that the law would be viewed as “a monumental achievement” in five to ten years.
Speaking before the president, Biden blamed Washington gridlock on a conflicted Republican Party.
“There isn't a Republican Party,” Biden said. “I wish there were. I wish there was a Republican Party. I wish there was one person you could sit across the table from, make a deal, make a compromise, and know when you got up from that table it was done.”

Ninth U.S. Circuit of Appeals Tosses Portion of Concealed Carry Law
In the past in order to carry a concealed weapon, you'd have to give law enforcement a reason why and proof. For example, if you said someone was stalking you, you'd need documentation to prove it. Now an opinion from the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals say that portion of the law is no more, it was called "good cause."
Fish Out of Water: Camera Setup Lets Goldfish Drive RC TankBy Devin Coldewey
At last, Goldie can have the freedom it deserves: This mobile fish tank can be driven around the room, guided by the fish inside. Why, you ask? Why not?
"Fish on Wheels" was developed by Dutch inventors at Studio Diip "in an attempt to liberate fish all over the world." A camera above the tank tracks the fish's location, and attempts to steer in the direction the fish seems like it wants to go.

CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH (DESPITE ALL THE EVIDENCE) As part of what Steve Sailer termed PC’s “war on noticing,” black groups at the University of Minnesota—groups who are so hell-bent on racial self-identification that they go by names such as “the African American and African Studies, Black Faculty and Staff Association, Black Graduate and Professional Student Association, Black Men’s Forum, Black Student Union and Huntley House for African American Males”—have petitioned the school to avoid using racial descriptions when posting crime alerts. Ian Taylor, president of the Black Men’s Forum, lamented that “The repeated black, black, black suspect…what that does [is] it really discomforts the mental and physical comfort for students on campus because they feel like suspicions begin to increase.” Crime victims are counseled not to notice their assailants’ skin color so as to avert any future instances of such discomfort. Although we’re only a month into the year, it’s going to be hard to top this essay by a thin white female yoga student as she breaks down in tears after a yoga class where she noticed a fat black yoga student seemed uncomfortable. We know we’re not supposed to notice things, but we’ve noticed that black people always seem to be uncomfortable around fragile, self-loathing, and effusively apologetic white writers. Still, it’s a good thing that segregation ended and that blacks are freely permitted to roam public schools and shopping centers. If they make you uncomfortable, you need to check your privilege and learn that your comfort doesn’t matter.
Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael L. Keyes is in an odd situation.
When on duty, he can carry a gun.
Yet while off duty, he is barred by law from possessing any firearms, because seven years ago he suffered from deep depression, repeatedly tried to kill himself by taking drugs and was involuntarily committed for mental health treatment.
Keyes' latest attempt to be allowed to have a gun all the time was rejected this week by the state Superior Court.
That court upheld an earlier ruling by Perry County Senior Judge Keith B. Quigley that Keyes' involuntary mental health commitment constitutes an
unsurmountable legal barrier to his ability to possess a gun while off duty.
With all the smirking on the left about their electoral victories, it's important to remember that Democrats haven't won the hearts and minds of the American people. They changed the people. If you pour vinegar into a bottle of wine, the wine didn't turn, you poured vinegar into it. Similarly, liberals changed no minds. They added millions of new liberal voters through immigration.
So why are Republicans like Trey Gowdy, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and John Boehner making fools of themselves in order to spot the Democrats three more touchdowns? The House Republicans' "Standards for Immigration Reform," for example, contains this fat, honking nonsense: "One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents." As the kids say: WTF? Yes, children suffer when their parents break the law. Also when their parents get divorced, become alcoholics, don't read to them at night, feed them junk food and take them to Justin Bieber concerts. None of that is the child's fault. But it's not the country's fault either.READ MORE

Does the Fourth Amendment mean anything anymore? That is essentially the question Sen. He cited the U.S. government’s ongoing collection of Americans’ phone records as the “modern equivalent” of British lawlessness and overreach during the Revolutionary War eraSTORY
Second Victim Dies from Exploding Package in Tennessee
Marion Setzer, 72, died Wednesday evening from injuries she sustained from Monday's explosion, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. Her Husband, Jon Setzer, 74, was killed Monday by the blast at the Setzers' home inLebanon, about 30 miles east of Nashville.
Marion Setzer had been in critical condition after the package that was delivered to their rural home blew up, authorities said. She died at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Authorities have not said what was in the package, and would not speculate on whether Jon Setzer was the intended victim. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are working with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to gather information about the explosion.
Staff told the hacks “it was not the done thing” to take a cellphone picture of yourself in the West Wing as they covered the visit of French President Francoise Hollande, according to Laurence Haim, a reporter with French TV station, Canal Plus.
Those called out included Thomas Wieder, a reporter with the French newspaper Le Monde, who grinned broadly as he snapped himself with President Obama and Hollande in the background.
It wasn’t only reporters play with their gadgets - as politicians also got in on the act. French lawmaker Frederic Lefebvre also took a selfie of himself on the White House lawn.
Haim shunned the limelight, taking a candid shot of the world leaders instead.

This short video explaining the Second Amendment is not only kicking it on YouTube, it’s as relevant today as it was when it was made in 2008. Its effectiveness lies in its simple, concise explanation. Like clockwork, whenever a terrible event like Sandy Hook or the Aurora theater shooting occurs, the left sees it as an opportunity to call for stricter gun laws; laws generally aimed at restricting the types of firearms and ammunition that law-abiding citizens should be allowed to own — or not. While the left interprets the Second Amendment as protecting the right of a state militia to keep and bear arms, conservatives see the amendment as protecting the right of the people to do the same. Watch this video from Penn & Teller, and tell us what you think. **Warning** To the surprise of no one who’s familiar with Penn Jillette, he drops an f-bomb at the end of the video.
Tiny Cowboy Named ‘Woody’ Disarmed by Security at London Airport
well-knowncharacter was recently deemed a securitythreat and disarmed at Heathrow Airport in London.
A Woody doll — from the popular “Toy Story” movies — reportedly had his tiny six-shooter confiscated by security staff at the airport. The doll reportedly belongs to a father, who says he has traveled the world with Woody taking pictures for his son. The dad posted a photo of Woody’s tiny gun allegedly being examined at Heathrow Airport on Reddit, and it quickly went viral.
“I have travelled the world with Toy Story’s Woody, taking pics for my son,” he wrote on Reddit. “At Heathrow, security just confiscated his ‘weapon’, keep the world safe boys.” The Woody doll is usually not sold with a toy gun, according to the Daily Mail. It’s unclear where the tiny gun actually came from. Heathrow Airport refused to comment on the incident The airport argued security rules are created by the Department For Transport. When the publication contacted the agency, a spokesperson said the department doesn’t “comment on specific incidents or details of our security regime.” However, the spokesperson said airports can “use their discretion to remove any item being carried in hand luggage when they believe it may be perceived as a threat.” THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GET REAL JOBS

The Washington Redskins issued a scathing response to two lawmakers Monday after they called for the team to change its controversial name. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a letter that the league is on the “wrong side of history” in allowing the Redskins to keep their name, which some see as a slur.
“It is, in fact, an insult to Native Americans,” Cantwell and Cole wrote.
But the team fired back in a statement, saying that Cantwell – who chairs the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs – has better things to do with her time. “Senator Cantwell should be aware that there are many challenges facing Native Americans, including an extremely cold winter with high energy bills, high unemployment, life threatening health problems, inadequate education and many other issues more pressing than the name of a football team which has received strong support from Native Americans,”STORY

Time to Let Convicted Felons Vote, Holder Says
By Pete Williams
Attorney General Eric Holder is calling for an end to state laws that bar convicted felons from voting, even after they have served their sentences.
"By perpetuating the stigma and isolation imposed on formerly incarcerated individuals, these laws increase the likelihood they will commit future crimes," Holder said Tuesday at a Washington, D.C., symposium on sentencing laws.
Of course.......potential democrat voters, almost guaranteed.
Holder said the restrictions bar 5.8 million Americans from casting a ballot, including 2.2 million African Americans.
"Nearly one in 13 African-American adults are banned from voting because of these laws. [What does this tellyou ?] In three states -- Florida, Kentucky, and Virginia -- that ratio climbs to one in five," he said.
Holder called the laws a vestige of post-Civil War racial discrimination, with a disproportionately high impact on minority communities.
The laws were not intended to improve public safety but rather "to stigmatize, shame, and shut out a person who had been found guilty of a crime."
Justice Department figures say Florida's law has disenfranchised roughly 10 percent of the population. Similar laws in Mississippi bar 8 percent of the population from voting, the figures say.
Three states -- Florida, Iowa, and Kentucky -- permanently disenfranchise convicted felons, unless the government approves an individual request to have rights restored. Eight others -- Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Mississippi, Nevada, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wyoming -- bar at least some, though not all, convicted felons from voting.
In most states, voting rights are restored after a sentence is served, though some also require completing terms of probation or parole. Nearly all states bar felons from voting while they remain in prison.
Apocalyptic fear has always been pervasive in films, books and even the popular media. But after all that panic over the ‘millennium bug’ in 2000 and the end of the world in 2012, we’ve coasted into 2014 without any major catastrophe befalling us and so far the headlines on impending doom are thin on the ground. But does that mean we’re safe? Does it mean that we, humanity, will live to see 2020? 2050?
Sir Martin Reese, a former president of the British Royal Society and the Queen’s current Astronomer Royal, is of the opinion that there is a 50% chance that humanity will cease to exist by the end of the century. While the hysteria of 21st December 2012 was based on superstition and myth, it’s true that several scientists and environmental experts believe that humanity is facing some grave threats that may push us over the brink into endangerment or extinction like so many of our fellow mammals – or at least into a time of gigantic change and upheaval.
According to some experts, earth can only provide food for 10 billion people at most, And and only if the entire world decided to turn vegetarian! There simply isn’t enough fresh water in the world to produce crop to sustain more than 10 billion people, let alone enough meat. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. We’ve compiled information on 5 of the biggest known threats humanity is facing. Scary stuff, but we’ll try to find some silver linings. Keep calm and carry on…......FULL STORY
21 Iraqi Militants Accidentally Blow Themselves up
An instructor teaching his militant recruits how to make car bombs accidentally set off explosives in his demonstration Monday, killing 21 of them in a huge blast that alerted authorities to the existence of the rural training camp in an orchard north of Baghdad.
Nearly two dozen people were arrested, including wounded insurgents trying to hobble away from the scene.
The fatal goof by the al-Qaeda breakaway group that dominates the Sunni insurgency in Iraq happened on the same day that the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, a prominent Sunni whom the militants consider a traitor, escaped unhurt from a roadside bomb attack on his motorcade in the northern city of Mosul.
Nevertheless, the events underscored the determination of the insurgents to rebuild and regain the strength they enjoyed in Iraq at the height of the war until U.S.-backed Sunni tribesmen turned against them. The militants are currently battling for control of mainly Sunni areas of western Iraq in a key test of the Shiite-led government's ability to maintain security more than two years after the withdrawal of U.S. troops.
While the Iraqi army has been attacking insurgent training camps in the vast desert of western Anbar province near the Syrian border, it is unusual to find such a camp in the center of the country, just 60 miles north of the capital.
The militants belonged to a network now known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an extremist group that recently broke with al-Qaeda. The ISIL, emboldened by fellow fighters' gains in the Syrian civil war, has tried to position itself as the champion of Iraqi Sunnis angry at the government over what they see as efforts to marginalize them.

U.S.-Italy Mafia Network Busted in 'Unprecedented' Sweep
By
Claudio Lavanga and Alexander Smith
ROME - Police in Italy and the United States have broken up a major organized crime network made up of powerful mafia clans plotting to smuggle huge amounts of illegal drugs and weapons, officials said on Tuesday.
Officers on both sides of the Atlantic worked together in what they called an "unprecedented" two-year operation involving wiretaps and undercover officers penetrating deep into the heart of the alleged network, American and Italian officials said at a press conference in Rome.
Seventeen people in Italy and seven in New York were arrested in coordinated sweeps just after 7 p.m. ET on Monday. Hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars in cash were also recovered in the raids.
"We realized the 'Ndrangheta wanted to create a bridge with the U.S. to move narcotics across the ocean," U.S. magistrate Marshall Miller said, referring to the powerful criminal organization in Calabria, Italy.
"What the 'Ndrangheta did not know was that a much stronger bridge existed already between the U.S. and Italy, that of the cooperation between our forces," he added.
Law enforcement officials said the bust reveals an attempt by New York's Gambino Mafia family to establish a link with the 'Ndrangheta in Italy, and that the two clans were in the "advanced stages" of plans to smuggle drugs and weapons from South America to the port of Gioia Tauro in Calabria, in southern Italy.
The seven people arrested in New York were charged with money laundering. Officials said they were planning to ship cocaine from Guyana to Italy, bypassing the U.S. The profit from that would have been reinvested to move heroin from Italy to the U.S., Miller said.

Gun Control: More Bad Economic Policy from Liberal Democrats
States that have adopted gun control are now, in addition to killing the freedom to which Americans have grown accustomed, killing jobs. More than simply being bad public-safety-policy, gun control is shaping up to be bad economic policy. In an open letter, the CEO of the world famous firearm manufacturer articulated his reason for leaving Maryland in no uncertain terms: View Full Article <<<click to read letter Beretta decided, after Maryland’s recent adoption of restrictive gun control measures, that the state no longer deserves his companies hard earned tax dollars. The decision came as the company was preparing to expand its Maryland facility. As Ugo Gussalli Beretta pointed out in his letter, there is no reason to remain in a state that treats his industry as “a necessary evil”.
As the 2014 midterm elections inch closer, vulnerable Democrats are keeping President Barack Obama as far away from their campaigns as possible. In addition, Democrats are slamming Obama's policies. More from POLITICO:
“I don’t care to have him campaign for me,” said Alaska Sen. Mark Begich. “I’d rather him come up to see where his policies aren’t working. He’s wrong on ANWR, we’ve had struggles to try to get our permits done down in the southeast for our timber industry, I want to show him how important the military is in Fairbanks.”
“I don’t get people to come and campaign for me very often,” Pryor said. “To me, in Arkansas, people don’t vote for you because somebody else says vote for you.”
Asked about the prospects of Obama or Biden coming to help, “I’m not going to tell anybody not to,” Pryor said. “We’re going to make the race about Arkansas.” READ MORE
