Obama flubs during health care conference call

Obama flubs during health care conference call with community organizers, claims 'more than 100 MILLION Americans' have enrolled
By David Martosko, U.s. Political Editor

President Barack Obama told a conference-call audience of progressive volunteers on Monday evening that 'more than 100 million Americans' – in a nation of less than 314 million – have successfully signed up for health insurance via the Affordable Care Act.
And at a time when his signature legislative initiative's website has made the White House the butt of jokes, the website hosting the conference call was plagued with its own connection errors and other malfunctions.
A weary-sounding Obama made his gaffe during the call, hosted by Organizing For Action, the nonprofit successor to his campaign organization Obama For America. The group claimed 200,000 people managed to listen, aided by an RSVP process that included a fundraising solicitation.

Woman Hailed by President as Obamacare Success Story Now Can't Afford Obamacare

CNN reports that a woman the president hailed as an Obamacare success story just realized she won't be able to afford Obamacare because it's too expensive:

"Jessica Sanford was cited by the president as an Obamacare success story at a health care event he had here at the White House in the Rose Garden on October 21," says a reporter for CNN from the White House. "That of course being just last month. The 48-year-old single mom from Washington state purchased what she considered to be affordable health care, life-changing event, she said, on the Washington state health exchange. She decided she was so excited about this news, she wanted to write an e-mail to the president to say that this had really changed her life and that she was thankful for the Afforable Care Act. The president included her e-mail in his remarks to people on hand for the event. Here's a bit of what the president had to say."
The CNN report quotes President Obama as saying, "I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington state. And here's what she wrote, I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed. and I haven't had insurance for 15 years because it's too expensive. I was crying the other day when I signed up, so much stress lifted."

Obama and his Youth Brigade per SNOPES

Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.

This bill's title is called "Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education" (GIVE). It forms what some are calling "Obama's Youth Brigade." Obama's plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade .. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in "engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization." That means no church attendance or witnessing.

Classy, right? No matter what your opinion of Sarah, SHE has almost always been a lady

Cher’s Offensive Comment to Sarah Palin

cher
No matter what one person thinks of another, nobody deserves to be called the derogatory name that Cher called Sarah Palin on Twitter.

The singer/actress trained her social media fire on former Gov. Sarah Palin Friday, using her signature Twitter speak to slam a political figure for daring to disagree with her world view.
“Go to dictionary,& look up The “C”Word,….next 2 the definition…you’ll see a Pic of Sarah PALIN ! NO…WAIT …SHES UNDER DUMB C WORD”
Classy, right?
The fact is, if you want to share your opinions about other people, being gracious, classy, and fair goes a long way. Vilifying the other party and using derogatory speech is not lady-like, nor is it behaving like an adult.
I am disappointed that people in this day and age insist on being so very harsh with others. Isn’t ‘playing nice’ in spite of disagreements something we were supposed to learn in pre-school?

Darned Christians.

Schools around the country are running in a horror from Operation Christmas Child because humanists are now objecting to the insertion of Christ into Christmas. In Operation Christmas Child people who don't "believe" in Christ see a fiendish plot by Christians to fill shoe boxes “with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child.”
The horror!
Another school-- this time in Colorado-- has been sued by the same humanist group for their cooperation with Operation Christmas Child (OCC).
OCC runs a shoe-box drive for kids.
Shoe boxes are filled “with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child,” as I said.
Darned Christians.
Always showing off: loaves and fishes, rising from the dead, shoeing the shoe-boxless, operating websites on a shoestring.
Don’t they know anything about the proper role of charity? Charity only exists within the liberal context of the “government-as-church” model.

Were Police Too Rough With Alleged Teen Thief?

Mom of Alleged Teen Shoplifter Accuses Police of Brutality
By George Spencer and NBC10.com Staff Monday, Nov 18, 2013  |  Updated 12:20 PM EST

Editor's Note: A warning that this story contains graphic images.
The mother of a 14-year-old boy who was arrested for shoplifting is accusing police of roughing him up.

"The picture speaks a thousand words," says Marissa Sargeant, who shared several graphic photos with NBC10 that shows her son bruised, cut and swollen.
The teen was arrested by Tullytown Police for retail theft at Walmart on Tuesday night, along an adult relative. "What he did was wrong. He was coerced by a 19-year-old. He does know better," said Sargeant.
The teen and his 19-year-old cousin Jordan Gibson were both positively identified by Wal-Mart Asset Protection.
Authorities say after the teen's arrest, and before he was loaded into a police car, he took off running along Route 13 while handcuffed.
TheBucks County District Attorney tells NBC10 that police officers yelled warnings at the teen and fearing for his safety, they fired a stun gun to subdue him. The D.A. says the Taser struck the boy in the face and with his hands cuffed, the boy had no way to brace himself against falling face-first.
"That doesn't sound right. There's no way, if he was running from behind, that he would get hit with a taser in the front of his face," said Sargeant.
Sargeant says the officers must have hit or kicked her son, and then told him not to tell anyone. The boy was taken directly to the hospital for treatment.
Police aren't offering up anymore information because of the family's threat of a lawsuit.
"I just want some justice. I even pray for the police officers because they need help," said Sargeant.
The District Attorney tells NBC10 his office has reviewed the case and will only do its own investigation if they are asked.

Nancy hits a new, incoherent, low.

Watch a stammering, babbling, Pelosi try to weasel her way out of her own 'like it, keep it' lie
It's been clear for a while that Republicans made a mistake when they dubbed the ACA "Obamacare." First, it ties the unpopular, imploding millstone to a man who will be leaving office at the end of 2016.  It's simply too limiting.
Moreover, it's really a misnomer.  This disaster was created and implemented exclusively by Democrats, so it's only fair that they should all have the opportunity to bask in the beneficial glow of its epic rollout. "Democare" would be a more apt nickname.
Exhibit A in the "Hall of Dems responsible for the ACA train wreck" would be Obama, but B and C would be Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Pelosi was particularly instrumental, and her "you have to pass it to find out what's in it" line has become a bumper sticker that every statist drone should be proud to slap on their Prius.  It could sit side by side with their "if you like your plan you can keep it" sticker.  In fact, they should have two of those because Obama wasn't the only one who lied about the government forcing insurers to cancel your policy.
Pelosi liked to make the bogus claim too.
This morning, she appeared on Meet the Press and David Gregory brought it up.  Her rambling reply is a beautifully marbled slab of USDA Prime baloney.  We're not even sure that she's trying to make salient points anymore. She just babbles and hopes her answer is so confusing that no one will notice how completely, utterly, ridiculous it is.
Since I would have no idea how to transcribe the stilted insanity of what she says here, I'm just going to drop the video below. It's reminiscent of Obama's atrocious press conference and, like that appearance, it's pure comedy gold.

Flag Ceremony at Military Base Too Loud?

Navy Base Reveille Too Loud?

Monday, Nov 18, 2013  |  Updated 7:13 AM EST                      AP

Some neighbors are complaining about noise from the flag ceremony on a navy base in New Jersey.

Those living near Weapons Station Earle's waterfront in Middletown at 8 a.m. hear the “Call to Colors” followed by “The Star-Spangled Banner” when the base raises its flag. A similar ceremony takes place at sunset when the flag is lowered.
Base spokesman Michael Brady tells the Asbury Park Press a new public address system was installed during the summer. Brady says officials are using sound meters to adjust the volume.
“We are concerned about being a good neighbor,” Brady told the paper. “It’s a balancing act of having it loud enough that people on the base can hear it without projecting beyond our fence.”
Resident Bob Wille questions why someone not in the military should have to wake up to reveille.
But Korean War veteran Andrew Lucina believes the base should pay the music as loud as it wants.

Guns placed in this position, especially toward people, violates cardinal gun safety rules.

1) ALL guns are always
 loaded
2) NEVER let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy
3) Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on the target
4) ALWAYS be sure of your target (and what is beyond it)

I called NYPD yesterday to ask a few questions about the press conference. The first time around a Lieutenant answered the phone and our conversation was brief. I told him I was a reporter and simply asked him why the confiscated guns were pointed out at the audience (instead of placed sideways).

Navy Ship Struck By Malfunctioning Drone During Training

Uss Chancellorsville

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Navy says an aerial target drone malfunctioned and struck a guided missile cruiser during training off Southern California, causing two minor injuries.
Lt. Lenaya (luh-NEY-yah) Rotklein of the U.S. Third Fleet said the accident on the USS Chancellorsville happened Saturday afternoon while the ship was testing its combat weapons system off Point Mugu.
She said two sailors were treated for minor burns after the ship was struck. She said the ship was heading back to Naval Base San Diego so that officials can assess the damage.
The Navy was investigating the cause of the drone malfunction.
Rotklein said the drone was being used to test the ship's radar. She had no immediate information on whether the drone has malfunctioned before.
About 300 crew members were aboard the ship.

A High School Coach Was Fired For This Facebook Photo (FB)

There are definitely things that, if posted on Facebook, can (and maybe should) get you fired. Evidence of criminality or a drug problem, for instance.
But this image of Laraine Cook, a former girls basketball coach for Pocatello High School in the town of Pocatello, Idaho, falls into a different category.
She was fired in October after it was posted to Facebook in July. The photo was on Facebook for less than 24-hours, she told Local News 8 in a video interview. It's a picture of her and her fiance taken on a family vacation, in swimsuits, near a lake. He's touching her breast.
Her fiance is also a high school coach in the same school district.
He was reprimanded but not fired.
Double standard? The district told Cook the reason she was fired, and he was not, was because the photo was posted to her Facebook account, not his. The district deemed it an "immoral" photo.
She has filed a formal protest and hopes to get her job back.
The Largest Snake in the World Has Invaded the United States

On a muggy day about 10 years ago in the Florida Everglades, Jack Shealy was riding his bike along a dirt road leading into the Trail Lakes Campground, where he has worked for decades. Like any good gladesman, Shealy has a substantial portion of his brain wired to recognize snakes in places where the rest of us would see only leaves and shadows. He skidded to a stop at the sight of a serpentine form stretched out in the sun.
This particular snake was not especially large—only about a meter in length. Yet the color was something different. Greenish brown with dark, oval spots. This was not a snake that belonged in the Everglades. Shealy did something that comes naturally to the family. (His nephew Jack M. Shealy recently became notorious for jumping into the water to wrestle an invasive Burmese python.) He jumped off of the bike and captured the angry snake by hand.                               READ STORY

As usual, carrying political correctness to the extreme,

Protest against Dutch blackface holiday tradition

news-world-europe-20131116-EU--Netherlands-Black.Pete

AMSTERDAM (AP) — The Dutch equivalent of Santa Claus arrived in the Netherlands on Saturday to the delight of thousands of children. But some adults protested vigorously against one element of the beloved tradition they find racist: his servant in blackface makeup, Black Pete.

In the annual Dutch Sinterklaas festival, St. Nicholas arrives by steamboat in mid-November and spends a month in the country with dozens of the Petes, clown-like figures who leave cookies, chocolate and other treats for children. The affair ends in a night of gift-giving on Dec. 5.

Protesters say the Petes — servants who wear blackface makeup, red lipstick and frizzy "Afro" wigs — are blatant racist caricatures and should be banned. But in a country where 90 percent of the people have European ancestry, a large majority feels there is no racial insult intended by Black Pete. They say he's a positive figure of fun and that the dissent is a sign of political correctness gone overboard....STORY
