  SC Officer Shoots Man Reaching for Cane

     A police officer in South Carolina shot a 70-year-old motorist who was reaching for a cane during a traffic stop because he thought the man was grabbing a rifle from the bed of his pickup truck, investigators said. The man was expected to survive.

The York County deputy, Terrence Knox, pulled over Bobby Canipe (kah-NYP') of Lincolnton, N.C., for an expired license tag about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday north of Clover, S.C., York County sheriff's spokesman Trent Faris said.

After stopping, Canipe got out of his pickup truck and reached into the bed, pulling out what Knox thought was a long-barreled rifle, Faris said. It was Canipe's walking cane. The officer fired several times, hitting Canipe once, Faris said.

Faris refused to say where on his body Canipe was hit, but said he was expected to survive. Canipe was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., where spokesman Kevin McCarthy said he was listed in fair condition.

"The situation is very unfortunate," Faris said, reading from a statement at a news conference. "It does appear, at this time, that Deputy Knox's actions were an appropriate response to what he reasonably believed to be an imminent threat to his life."

The State Law Enforcement Division will investigate the shooting and turn its findings over to prosecutors, who will decide whether to press charges, Faris said. He said Knox, 24, has been a deputy for almost three years.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warned Russia on Thursday that it must be transparent about military exercises on its border with Ukraine.

The popular uprising in Kiev has reignited Cold War rivalries between East and West, with Russia announcing emergency drills of combat troops and the United States pledging a $1 billion loan deal to the West-leaning interim government.      Where is obama getting the billion dollars to loan ? Borrow it from China ?

"I am closely watching Russia's military exercises along the Ukrainian border," Hagel told a NATO press conference on Thursday.

"I expect Russia to be transparent about these activities and I urge them not to take any steps that could be misinterpreted, or lead to miscalculation during a very delicate time, a time of great tension.''

Holder Hospitalized and Released After Shortness of Breath

Attorney General Eric Holder was hospitalized for about three hours Thursday after experiencing shortness of breath, Justice Department officials said.

The officials said that Holder’s symptoms also included faintness, and that he began to feel them during his regular morning meeting with senior staff. They said he was alert, comfortable and talking with his doctors while he was in the hospital.

A Justice Department official who was in the meeting said that Holder told the group he wasn’t feeling well and excused himself. The official described it as “nothing sudden or traumatic.” The diagnosis was not clear, but an official said Holder has been feeling under the weather all week.

Holder, 63, is an avid basketball player and has been in good health. He was scheduled to attend a White House event with President Barack Obama later in the day.

The attorney general was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center by ambulance, a Justice Department official said. Holder was joking with the paramedics on the way, an official said.

Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, told reporters that the president wished Holder a speedy recovery.

Botched registration leads to confiscation in Connecticut

Connecticut has an “assault weapon” problem.
Politicians rammed through a law demanding that citizens register scary-looking firearms and standard capacity magazines, and the citizenry overwhelmingly responded by being “militantly sedentary.”
Gun owners sat on their butts and refused to register either arms or magazines, all but daring the state to do anything about it.
Of the estimated 375,000-400,000 firearms deemed “assault weapons” by the state,  more than 325,000 remain undocumented. Only about 50,000 were registered for future confiscation.
The requirement to register standard capacity magazines was laughed at even louder by the citizenry; just 38,000 (less than 2 percent) of an estimated 2 million standard capacity magazines holding greater than ten rounds of ammunition were registered with the state.
Right before the December 31 deadline, a handful of souls attempted to register their firearms and magazines at the last minute. They now find themselves in limbo, documented but not legal, and the state is now demanding their firearms:      READ MORE 

Americans Rising Up Against Gov’t.. And Winning!

Glenn Harlan Reynolds provides three very important examples of how Americans have already started rising up against a tyrannical government, without violence or a shot fired, and have seen some big wins as we stand together and speak in one voice.

One was the DHS nationwide license plate database which has been canceled with the excuse that it was all a “mistake.”

The second example was the FCC plans to intimidate newsrooms and print news outlets by placing government “monitors,” to question independent editorial decisions. Again the plan was scrapped after public outrage was expressed.

The third example is the passive resistance shown in Connecticut where the majority of gun owners that were told they must “register”, did not and won’t.

These may seem like small wins to some, but they are actually extremely important because the people have shown they can bypass the MSM, spread the word, get the message across and put a stop to the antics of administrations, local, state or federal, that would strip our rights guaranteed under the US constitution.

Every person that shared a story about one of these events, every comment they made on any forum which helped the word bypass the MSM, every conversation, every article written…. all helped.    

Be careful and be prepared though because when tyranny is thwarted, those in charge become dangerous.

The incident occurred inside the District of Columbia where magazines with a capacity of more than 10-rounds, and even fake magazines, are illegal. Not only did he violate D.C. gun laws, but according to D.C. police, he knowingly violated the law after being denied the use of the illegal magazine on the show. A review of the law:

No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. For the purposes of this subsection, the term large capacity ammunition feeding device means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

Officials in Gilberton, Pa. which is in Schuylkill County, reached a settlement agreement with Mark Kessler on Thursday that pays him $30,000 and considers him as "separated from his employment and voluntarily retired,'' according to the document, released to The Associated Press through an open-records request Friday.

"The matter's been amicably resolved," said borough attorney John Dean. "Gilberton's moving on, as is Chief Kessler."
 
Borough officials suspended Kessler last year, then began the process of firing him, after he posted videos of himself shooting borough-owned automatic weapons and cursing liberals and others. The videos garnered hundreds of thousands of views online. Kessler has acknowledged they're inflammatory, but said he posted them to draw attention to the erosion of Second Amendment and other constitutional rights.

Kessler's settlement prohibits him from attending Gilberton municipal meetings or having any contact with the mayor or borough council members. Kessler had previously used his Internet radio show to make vulgar sexual references to borough council members, calling one a drunk and threatening violence against another.

Kessler, 42, a former coal miner who has spoken at gun-rights rallies around the country, said Friday he has signed with a production company to star in his own, as-yet-untitled, reality show. He said it will focus on his life and his efforts to start a militia-style group.

"It's gonna be good. It's gonna be a different side of me," he said. "I'll knock `Honey Boo Boo' out of the water."

Firing the opening salvo in a bloody budget battle, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel recommended drastic cuts of billions of dollars that would take American military forces to its lowest level since before World War II.

The cuts in military spending, forces and weapons programs address the stark reality of growing budget pressures at home while pointing to the improbability that the United States will engage in a large ground war.

“As we end our combat mission in Afghanistan, this will be the first budget to fully reflect the transition [the Defense Department] is making after 13 years of war,” Hagel said in the Pentagon briefing room.

Unbelievable: MSNBC Host Complains About White People CallingOut Black Racism, Saying It’s ‘Like A Weapon That They’ve Attempted To Take Away From Black People’

Liberals have, for some time now, claimed the race card as a major part of their intellectually bankrupt debate arsenal. Instead of actually making their case with facts and a coherent discussion of ideas, liberals who get backed into a corner with facts will often use the charge of racism in an attempt to defuse their losing position. The problem for these liberals is facts and reality are starting to cause big hurdles for their cause. Worse for them, they are actually becoming more and more racist against anyone (black, white or any other color) who disagrees with them.

And people are now pointing out the blatant racism. Like, for example, our recent story about a Trader Joe’s store being denied the ability to open a store because black leaders were afraid it would attract white shoppers. In that case there is zero question as to whether the move to block Trader Joe’s was racist.
But according to MSNBC host Joy Reid, saying they were racist is simply a shallow ploy to take away their ability to use the race card against anyone who isn’t black.
I kid you not.

Related to that underbelly is another pet peeve of the soon-to-be-host: “There’s this new thing where people on the right revel in calling anyone black racist who mentions race. It’s like a weapon that they’ve attempted to take away from black people, and they call black people racist all the time for things that definitionally don’t even make sense.”

First of all, “people on the right” don’t call those who mention race racists. People who are racist are called racist. Big difference. Second, it’s amazing to see an MSNBC host admit the charge of racism, within the black community, is a weapon used by black people. Which is, at its face, relatively racist.
Oh the irony
