Black professor regrets comments critical of white students

BOSTON — An incoming Boston University professor who called "white college males" a "problem population" and was publicly criticized by the university's president said on Tuesday she regrets making the remarks.
Black sociology professor Saida Grundy, who completed her doctorate at the University of Michigan last year, had declared on her now-private Twitter account that "white masculinity is THE problem for America's colleges."
In other recent tweets, she said, "Deal with your white (expletive), white people. slavery is a (asterisk)YALL(asterisk) thing," and "Every MLK week I commit myself to not spending a dime in white-owned businesses. And every year I find it nearly impossible."
Grundy on Tuesday said events in the United States over the past year have made "the inconvenient matter of race" an unavoidable topic, but she expressed remorse over what she had said.
"I regret that my personal passion about issues surrounding these events led me to speak about them indelicately," she said in a statement. "I deprived them of the nuance and complexity that such subjects always deserve."

Brown, the university president, said Grundy will report for work on July 1. If she were white and made these statements, she would have been terminated

Jade Helm: Americans fear federal control of states

'Some concerned U.S. Army preparing for modern-day martial law'

The U.S. military has told WND that to allay fears and minimize concerns over a massive military training operation scheduled across much of America’s Southwest this summer, officials have met with local governments and briefed them.

And they say that it’s a combination of “inaccurate” information and “personal agendas” that is whipping up fears.
But it appears the message isn’t getting across, since a new poll shows nearly half of voters are concerned Washington “will use U.S. military training operations to impose greater control over some states.”
And one voter in five is “very concerned.”
The results come from Rasmussen Reports, which surveyed 1,000 likely voters May 7-10.
The polling company asked whether the government’s military training plan is an infringement of the rights of citizens, whether the respondent favors or opposes those exercises in their state, and how concerned are they over whether Washington “will use U.S. military training operations to impose greater control over some states.”
The training exercises this summer have been named Jade Helm 15, and WND reported when the concerns moved well beyond the fringe frets over black helicopters and secret prison sites.

One thing we’ve noticed about supporters of gun control is that they tend project their own temper/impulse control/mental health shortcomings onto others. That is, they know that they don’t have the temperament to avoid using firearms when angry, and since they can’t control themselves, they assume everyone else has the same deficiencies.

It seems like one of those anti-gun Democrats in Detroit proved his own inability to control his temper early Sunday morning, as he blasted away with a shotgun to his girlfriend’s car over what should have been a simple domestic argument:

Sources told Local 4 state Sen. Virgil Smith, who represents the fourth district, fired several shots into the woman’s car.
Investigators walked out of Smith’s home with what appeared to be a shotgun wrapped in a garbage bag. Investigators with Detroit police placed it in the backseat of an unmarked car.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday police were called to Smith’s home for reports of shots fired
Sources told Local 4 that early Sunday morning Smith and his girlfriend, a prominent businesswoman from Ann Arbor, got into an argument. Police said the victim told them multiple shots were fired in front of the home at Wexford and Hilldale, on the east side.

Some conflict of interest issues have been raised against Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby. Some are arguing that her office overreached when she brought charges against the six police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray, especially the driver of the van; he’s been charged with second-degree murder.
Gray died in custody after being arrested on April 12. He suffered a fatal spinal injury at some point during his 45-minute ride in a police van. The city descended into chaos, a state of emergency was declared, and the National Guard rolled in to help local law enforcement restore order.
Well, ever since the charges have been brought forward by Mosby, crime has been surging in Baltimore due to police being more “hesitant” in light of intense media and public scrutiny (via Baltimore Sun):

A Latino-owned Colorado barbecue restaurant was evacuated Friday because of a bomb threat after its owners announced they wanted to hold a "White Appreciation Day" there, NBC News reported. Edgar Antillon, the son of Mexican immigrants and owner of Rubbin' Buttz BBQ and Country Cafe in Milliken, Colorado, said the idea for "White Appreciation Day" was originally a joke — but then decided to turn it into a reality. "We have a whole month for Black History Month. We have a whole month for Hispanic Heritage Month. So we figured the least we could do is offer one day to appreciate white Americans," Antillon told NBC affiliate KUSA.

Shell clears major hurdle for Arctic drilling

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Just days ahead of a planned protest of Royal Dutch Shell's Arctic drilling program in Seattle, the company on Monday cleared a major bureaucratic hurdle to drill off Alaska's northwestern coast.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management approved the multi-year exploration plan in the Chukchi Sea for Shell after reviewing thousands of comments from the public, Alaska Native organizations and state and federal agencies.
"We have taken a thoughtful approach to carefully considering potential exploration in the Chukchi Sea, recognizing the significant environmental, social and ecological resources in the region and establishing high standards for the protection of this critical ecosystem, our Arctic communities, and the subsistence needs and cultural traditions of Alaska Natives," the agency's director, Abigail Ross Hopper, said in a statement. "As we move forward, any offshore exploratory activities will continue to be subject to rigorous safety standards."

George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin in 2012, suffered facial injuries today after a shooting at a busy intersection in Lake Mary.

Police identified the other person in the shooting as a man Zimmerman had an altercation with in September, police said.

Zimmerman was released from a hospital in Sanford today with some kind of facial wound, possibly from flying glass or some other type of debris.

"I don't believe he had a direct hit with a bullet," said Don West, Zimmerman's attorney.

News footage showed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger-side window of Zimmerman's Honda Ridgeline SUV.

Blacks Murder 4-6 People A Week In Baltimore; Cops Murder Zero…So Which Group Needs Reforming?

On average blacks commit 60% of America’s murders, so for the 26 murdered in Baltimore in the last 30 days, that would be around at least 15.6, or 3.9 per week. It could be a little less, or a lot more, up the full 6.5 a week.
Excerpted from The Daily Caller: The city of Baltimore, Md. has been home to roughly two dozen murders since police arrested Freddie Gray on April 12 for possession of an illegal switchblade.
At some point while police were transporting Gray in a police van, he fell into a coma. Police then took the 25-year-old man to a trauma center, where he died 10 days later.
Meanwhile, searchable data from The Baltimore Sun shows that 26 homicides have occurred in the city limits of Baltimore during the last 30 days — or since April 9.
The cause of death in one murder case was blunt force, police say. The victim in that case was two-year-old Tyleah Fenwick, according to local NBC station WBAL-TV.
Billy Vines, 59, and Jorvon Beatty, 23, died from stab wounds. Vines was killed in the wee hours of April 12 by his son at the home they shared not far from Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Beatty met his fate in a fight outside a homeless center on May 4.
The body of Nicole Torain, 34, was discovered in a trash incinerator on April 22. The cause of her death is unknown, but police have ruled it a homicide.
All the rest of Baltimore’s 26 murders in the last 30 days have resulted from shootings.

Nature got too close for comfort for sightseers at Yellowstone National Park who were chased by a mother bear.

The tourists were crowding her three cubs, causing her to chase the unsuspecting park visitors, as seen in a video released by Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks.

"These tourists were absolutely in danger," the park's communication and education program manager Bob Gibson told NBC News. "Black bears are usually shy of people. But you put them with their cubs and they get really protective. You never want to be between a bear and its cub."

Gibson also said that the encounter could have been deadly.

"Had they been the young of the year and 10 days old, the mom would have been all over the tourists,” Gibson said.

For several years Bush has been notably quiet about his successor.

Meeting with high level Jewish donors, Bush took the President to task and said his foreign policy is a colossal failure.
The former President said he has no immediate plans to enter the political fray. But he did want to go on record to say Obama has been naive when it comes to Iran and ISIS.
At he Republican Jewish Coalition session, held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, one of the sessions attendees wrote down what Bush said.
He said Bush noted Obama has placed America on a global retreat. He too relayed Bush has accused Obama of being deceived by Iran in regards to the ownership of Nuclear weapons. Bush said for Obama to begin relaxing sanctions is a mistake and is being down without consideration of Iran’s historic opposition to U.S. and Israel.
Part of this transcript was in reference Bush speaking on Iran’s new president, Hassan Rouhani. “He’s smooth,” Bush said. “And you’ve got to ask yourself, is there a new policy or did they just change the spokesman?”
