Donald Trump posted a new video on Instagram Wednesday hitting the Obama administration over the Iranian nuclear deal, which the presidential candidate describes as “terrible.”
The video begins with audio from President Obama announcing the deal as: “A powerful display of American leadership and diplomacy shows what we can accomplish when we lead from a position of strength. Iran could move closer to a nuclear bomb.” (See video below)

Trump told Sean Hannity after the deal was announced in July that if he had been negotiating it, release of the prisoners would have been a prerequisite to even starting the talks.
The author of the 1980s runaway New York Times bestseller “The Art of the Deal”  said with the United States having the leverage of tens of billions in frozen funds Iran wanted, negotiating a good deal would have been “such simple thing to do.” He added, “The whole thing is a disgrace that a deal like this could be signed…This is amateur night, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Byron York said “On the Record” of Trump’s 20-second Instagram video that will “play well with Republicans, who nearly unanimously disapprove of the deal.”
“Just as we’ve seen in some of his videos attacking fellow candidates, he can be really, really effective in a short period of time,” York said.
Trump’s video ends with the word: “It’s time for a real negotiator…Trump: Make America Great Again!”

A new assault rifle being manufactured in central Florida has drawn fire after the gunmaker branded it the “Crusader” and said it was designed “to never be used by Muslim terrorists.”
Spike’s Tactical in Apopka etched its new $1,395 AR-15 with a Bible verse that says “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle,” MyFoxOrlando reported.
Company spokesman Ben Thomas, a former Navy SEAL, said the scripture is something of an insurance policy to keep it out of the hands of terrorists. The idea came to him during the weapon's development. At the time, the U.S. government was preparing to arm rebel groups in Syria.
“When you make a rifle, you have to understand that it could be used for ill deeds if it got in the wrong hands,” Thomas told the station.

UPDATE 11:29 a.m. EDT: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a statement on the shooting Monday confirming that 43-year-old staffer Carey Gabay was shot and in critical conditional, via WCBS. 
"Carey is a friend to all who have the pleasure of meeting him," the statement read. "I ask that New Yorkers join us by keeping him, his wife Trenelle and his family in their prayers at this time."

One of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's staff members was shot and seriously wounded early Monday before the West Indian Day Parade in the Brooklyn borough of New York, WABC-TV reported. Carey Gabay, 43, was reportedly shot in the head at about 3:45 a.m. in the Flatbush neighborhood.
Officials told the television station Gabay was walking with his brother past people having an argument when shots were fired. He was reportedly hit with at least one bullet and rushed to the hospital, where he is in critical condition.
Cuomo himself did not immediately release the name of the staffer who was shot, but said the man was a 43-year-old graduate of Harvard University with a wife and baby on the way, according to WCBS. A biography of Gabay at the time of his hiring as first deputy counsel of Empire State Development, the New York economic-development agency staffed by Cuomo, appears to match the description given by the governor. 
Several incidents of violence broke out before the parade scheduled for Monday. One man was killed in a stabbing and others were wounded by gunfire, including the Cuomo staffer, the Associated Press reported.
The parade celebrates Caribbean culture and features food, music and scores of dancers in bright costumes. Cuomo and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio are both scheduled to attend the event, the first such occasion for the two since July, after a months-long feud, as AP noted.

   RALEIGH, N.C. — Military prosecutors have reached into a section of military law seldom used since World War II in the politically fraught case against Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the soldier held prisoner for years by the Taliban after leaving his post in Afghanistan.

   Observers wondered for months if Bergdahl would be charged with desertion after the deal brokered by the U.S. to bring him home. He was — but he was also charged with misbehavior before the enemy, a much rarer offense that carries a stiffer potential penalty in this case.

"I've never seen it charged," Walter Huffman, a retired major general who served as the Army's top lawyer, said of the misbehavior charge. "It's not something you find in common everyday practice in the military."

   Bergdahl could face a life sentence if convicted of the charge, which accuses him of endangering fellow soldiers when he "left without authority; and wrongfully caused search and recovery operations."READ ON...

Crews said the protesters and police were both having a great time. “So on the way back, the officer leading the parade kept talking into his microphone and saying things to the crowd, like, ‘Stay off the medium, do that,’ he was laughing and joking with the marchers, so then the marchers kind of started chanting that towards him. It was more playful than anything.”
“You’re saying, that was in a playful context, that chant?” asked Hayes.
“At that particular demonstration, yes. That was,” Crews said.

Oregon judge refuses to perform same-sex marriages

A circuit court judge in Oregon's Marion County is refusing to perform same-sex marriages, claiming doing so would violate his First Amendment rights.  
Judge Vance D. Day, who has served in Oregon's Third Judicial District since 2011, has never married an LGBT couple, and has stopped performing marriages all together. Day says performing gay marriages would go against his religious beliefs, and has reportedly instructed his clerks to refer gay couples to other judges. 
While no complaint against Day has been made public, Day spokesman Patrick Korten told KATU that the judge is currently under investigation by the Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability. According to KPTV, that investigation was prompted by a 13-point complaint against Day, and will be assessed in a hearing this fall. Day is in the process of setting up a legal defense fund to fight any potential charges.
The judge previously served as the chairman of the Oregon Republican Party.
Day's refusal comes as a clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, made national headlines for declining to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide. The clerk, Kim Davis, was jailed this week after defying a federal order to issue the licenses.
On Friday, Davis' deputies agreed to comply with the courts and issued a marriage license to James Yates and William Smith, who were previously denied during previous attempts to obtain one in Rowan County.

WASHINGTON -- In what could be a bid for a post in a future Donald Trump administration, Sarah Palin emerged out of the weeds on Sunday and urged the country to "speak American."

Republican presidential candidate Trump, who continues to dominate the polls in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire, escalated his feud with rival Jeb Bush this week when he chided the former Florida governor for speaking Spanish on the campaign trail. Bush, who is bilingual and whose wife was born in Mexico, vowed to keep speaking Spanish whenever he feels like it.

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, said that even though being fluent in Spanish was "a benefit" to Bush, immigrants should still learn a language that is "understood by all."

Nearly Half Of Republican Voters In Iowa Favor Trump's Plan To Deport 11 Million Illegal Immigrants

A recent poll found that the majority of Donald Trump’s supporters in Iowa — 73 percent — believe that the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States should be deported. The amount of support among Republican voters in Iowa was not as high, but still neared the majority at 47 percent.
One Republican voter, 58-year-old Walter Allsup, spoke to the Des Moines Register with a tone that mimicked the rhetoric Donald Trump has been spewing along the campaign trail in order to justify his reasoning for wanting to deport so many illegal immigrants. “That’s what they do when they find Americans that are illegal in their country — they either send them back or throw them in jail. We’re crazy to let people come in and do anything they want like that,” Allsup said. “Race has nothing to do with it. I’m totally blind. I can’t tell what color they are anyway. … I don’t care if they’re from LIechtenstein.”
Allsup’s comments and the polling numbers suggest that Trump’s emphasis on illegal immigration is having an impact on voters throughout the nation. Trump’s immigration policy called for the drastic action of deporting all undocumented immigrants here — which does reach the estimated 11 million mark. Rather than providing a path to citizenship like other candidates have proposed, Trump’s plan would result in the mass deportation of millions of people that have been living here for years. According to the results of this poll, that’s something that almost half of all Republicans and the majority of Trump followers support.
It’s unclear if such drastic measures will ever actually be able to be accomplished by Trump if elected, but it’s clear that his nationalistic, xenophobic anger towards immigrants has struck a chord with many throughout the nation.
