Supreme Court's conservatives appear poised to expand Second Amendment gun rights      Richard Wolf

WASHINGTON – The late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia was asked in 2013 whether the Second Amendment's right to bear arms stood on equal ground with other constitutional protections, such as freedom of speech.

"We're going to find out, aren't we?" he quipped.
That Scalia — who wrote the high court's landmark 2008 decision upholding gun rights — could not define the reach of that right was telling. Now, three years after his death, the court appears ready to put some teeth into an amendment that some justices say gets no respect.
The case, on tap to be heard this fall, challenges obscure New York City rules that prevent gun owners from transporting their weapons outside the city, whether to second homes or shooting ranges. There's nothing else like it among state and local gun restrictions.
Yet from such outliers are major Supreme Court decisions of national import often born. And here, the court's conservative justices could clarify that all gun restrictions must clear a high bar, or state that the right to bear arms extends beyond the home.
“This could be a huge decision," says Adam Winkler, author of "Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America" and a UCLA School of Law professor. "This case is going to end badly for gun violence prevention advocates."
Gun control groups are so worried about the court's direction on the Second Amendment that they would prefer to see New York City change the challenged rules. That could render the case moot and prevent the court from hearing it.

As we outlined in an earlier article, the 116th Congress is going to look a lot different than its predecessors thanks to a younger, more female, less white new cohort of Democrats. And weeks before even being sworn into office, many new members have already made their presence known—from livestreaming portions of their orientation, to joining an environmental protest in likely-Speaker Pelosi’s office, to exchanging their speakership votes for promises of attention to climate change.

But the incoming freshman class is notable not just because of their demographics, but also because of the types of experience and expertise they’re bringing to Congress. The “Blue Wave” is bringing record levels of educational attainment to the 116th Congress, but it’s also sweeping in the least politically experienced cohort in modern history. These divergent types of expertise, which fit into recent trends in the House, seem likely to have a lasting effect on both the political culture of the chamber and on the types and quality of policy that emerge from it.

A New Scandal Is Leading To One Question That Could Wreck Robert Mueller For Good

Robert Mueller thought he scored a major victory in his crusade to remove Donald Trump from office.

But then something happened that Mueller did not anticipate.

Roseanne Barr made a bold declaration about newly sworn-in Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. during the former ABC sitcom star's four-day trip in Israel.

After an event in Tel Aviv on Monday, the comedian was asked by a Breitbart reporter what she thought about Tlaib and Omar, who support the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and sanctions (BDS) Movement.

"We have Hamas in Congress," the controversial star replied, adding that BDS has "infected" the Democratic Party.

The 66-year-old doubled down on her remarks saying "BDS is another incarnation of Jew-hating."

Barr even went on to claim that Jewish people on the left can be categorized as anti-semitic. Barr is claiming that her forced exit from the show was due to her support of Israel.

It highlights -- with actual quotations from people in the media, academia and the political and entertainment arenas -- the attack on white men as a class. Don Lemon, a CNN anchorman, said, "We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them."

Teen Vogue, a magazine targeting teenage girls, wrote, "Not only is white male terrorism as dangerous as Islamic extremism, but our collective safety rests in rooting out the source of their radicalization." 

Economist Paul Krugman, a New York Times columnist, wrote a column titled "The Angry White Male Caucus," in which he explained, "Trumpism is all about the fear of losing traditional privilege." (I guess by "traditional privilege", he means "white privilege")

Gun Rights Advocates Move To Impeach Pittsburgh Mayor

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has angered gun rights advocates. That’s not that big of a deal, in and of itself. I mean, he’s the mayor of a large urban center. It’s unlikely that he really needs to worry about gun rights activists all that much most of the time.

But he may want to start rethinking that idea.

After all, they’re trying to impeach him from office, and even some who disagree with the gun rights crowd may side with them on this effort.

Some gun rights advocates are now trying to push Pittsburgh’s mayor out of office and possibly have him criminally charged over his gun control plans.

Republican ward Chair Brooke Nadonley, of Mt. Washington, and Val Finnell, of Firearms Owners Against Crime, made the rounds Monday at the Allegheny County Courthouse, trying to file a petition to impeach Bill Peduto.

“One of the grounds of his malfeasance, which would be the attempt to manipulate and change Pennsylvania gun laws,” Nadonley said.

The truth is, Mayor Peduto, no one needs to engage you on the debate for one simple reason. You and your city council lack the blasted authority to regulate guns, as per state law you authoritarian jackwagon. There’s no debate to be had at the local level because it’s not legal for you to regulate guns at the local level.

A third man has been charged after two U.S. Marine Corps reservists were assaulted by an Antifa mob just blocks away from a “We the People” rally in Philadelphia more than two months ago.

Joseph Alcoff, a 37-year-old who is believed to be the Antifa leader in Washington, D.C., was charged earlier this month with aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and conspiracy – all felonies – and other charges for his involvement in the November 2018 attack, Philly Mag reported.

Last month, Godinez and Torres testified in court that they were in Philadelphia to attend a Marine event at a local hotel and were touring the city’s historic attractions when they were approached by Keenan.

The two men, who were not wearing their uniforms the day of the attack, said they were asked if they were “Proud Boys” – an allusion to one of the right-wing groups behind the Nov. 17 rally.

After that interaction, they were approached by approximately 10 other people – men and women, some masked and some unmasked – who began attacking the Marines: punching and kicking them, using mace and hurling slurs and other insults such as calling them “Nazis” and “white supremacists.”

When gay black actor Jussie Smollett said he was attacked by white men who yelled some stuff about “MAGA,” it didn’t take long for the liberal rage machine to mobilize.

“The star of the tv show ‘Empire,’ Jussie Smollett, was attacked by two assailants early Monday morning in Downtown Chicago according to Chicago Police Department Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi,” CNN reported.

“Smollett, 36, was walking on the 300 block of E. North Lower Water Street when two men approached him and ‘gained his attention by yelling out racial and homophobic slurs towards him,’ Guglielmi says in a statement.

“Two unknown offenders — it is unknown if they were male or female — then attacked Smollett, hitting him in the face and then poured an unknown chemical substance on him.

“At some point during the scuffle, one of the offenders wrapped a rope around the victim’s neck and then both offenders fled the scene, the statement reads.”

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital, where the incident was reported to police, according to CBS Chicago.

There was plenty of condemnation to go around, particularly after TMZ reported that the attackers had shouted “this is MAGA country.”

BUT....

There was one problem with this “modern-day lynching” narrative: None of that “MAGA country” stuff was originally mentioned to police and they’re having trouble corroborating the fact that the attack even happened.

Should Semi-Auto Rifles Be Banned?

The debate over gun control has once again sparked in America.

The question usually was "Why does anyone need a semi-automatic rifle like the AR-15 ? You can't use them for hunting"

The answer to that used to be "No you can't use them for hunting, BUT...."

The National Rifle Association, which supported the legislation, said that 48 states already allow hunting with semi-automatic weapons – Pennsylvania and Delaware being the only exceptions. Most states surrounding Pennsylvania do permit hunting with semi-automatic rifles, but some place significant restrictions on their use.

Progressive politicians -- mainly Democrats -- and many members of the media are calling for greater restrictions on Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

Some have even called for a ban on semi-automatic firearms like the popular AR-15 rifle.

However, many conservatives argue that law-abiding gun owners should not have their Second Amendment rights limited because of the actions of criminals.
