A 21-year-old man built a tiny gun range in his backyard and plans to fire his 9-mm. handgun a few feet from where children play, WFLA reports.
The man, Joseph Carannante, said he has all the right paperwork for his gun and wants to use it in his yard every other weekend. After neighbors complained, he said he’d warn them in advance when he wants to fire some shots

The nature hike through Black's Beach last week led to parents complaining to the local scouting council after the boys, between the ages of 9 and 10, got an unexpected eyeful. The council said once the troop leaders realized the mistake the hike was ‘quickly’ rerouted ‘to protect the youth.’

 

A pack of San Diego Cub Scouts got a surprise introductory lesson on the birds and the bees after wandering onto a nudist beach — as did their leaders on emergency response.
The nature hike along Torrey Pines State Beach last week led to outraged parents filing a complaint with the local scouting council after their boys, between the age of 9 and 10, got an unexpected eyeful of naked beachgoers.
In a statement released by the San Diego-Imperial Council, they worked to assure that the children's Jan. 24th path through Black's Beach was "quickly" rerouted "to protect the youth" once the leaders realized the mistake .

Burned Alive: ISIS Video Purports to Show Murder of Jordanian Pilot

LONDON — ISIS militants released a video Tuesday purporting to show a captive Jordanian pilot being burned alive in a cage, just days after the militants beheaded a Japanese journalist.

Lt. Muath al Kasasbeh was on a bombing run over Syria in December when he was forced to eject and was immediately captured by ISIS fighters. His continued captivity — and ISIS threats to murder him — have been a national trauma for Jordan.

      A 22-minute video released by the al-Furqan Media Foundation — one of the official media arms of ISIS — shows Kasasbeh with a black eye at a table and, later, standing in a cage as he is burned alive.

House votes 239-186 to repeal Obamacare – Guess how many Democrats joined Republicans     Feb. 3, 2015 5:12pm Pete Kasperowicz          

The GOP-House voted Tuesday evening to fully repeal Obamacare, sending the bill to a Republican Senate that seems likely to at least try to pass it in the coming weeks.
There was little doubt the bill could pass in a House with a stronger Republican majority, and it passed easily 239-186.

Republicans have held full Obamacare repeal votes in every session of Congress, and have won the support of just a few Democrats. This time around, no Democrats voted with Republicans, and three Republicans voted against the bill: Reps. Bob Dold (Ill.), John Katko (N.Y.), and Bruce Poliquin (Maine).
The debate and vote gave both parties a chance to run through their usual arguments for and against the law. Republicans said said the law is leading to higher healthcare costs and less choice for Americans who have seen many of their insurance plans canceled because they don’t meet new standards under the law.
Republicans also said a repeal is needed so Congress can start over and build a new reform plan that gives people more choice.
“We need a new system,” said House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). “We need a system that puts the patients first, one that controls costs through competition, and expands coverage by choice, not coercion.”
But Democrats said Republicans have so far fallen short of their claim to bring up new health care ideas. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) said Republicans asked committees a few years ago to come up with alternatives, but came up with no comprehensive plan.
“The Republicans say that they have some kind of… what did my colleagues say, the GOP has no shortage of good ideas? What ideas?,” Pallone asked.
The main difference in the vote this year is that House passage sends the bill to a GOP Senate that will make some effort to call it up. For the last several years, the Democratic Senate has ignored these House bills.
Earlier this week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and dozens of other Republicans proposed their own Obamacare repeal bill in the hopes of finally getting somewhere in the upper chamber.

But Democrats are already showing why the GOP majority in the Senate doesn’t mean Republicans can do whatever they want. Sixty votes are needed to advance bills in the Senate, and Democrats on Tuesday successfully blocked a bill to defund President Barack Obama’s immigration plans.

Texas School Suspends 9-Year-Old For Terrorism Because He Brought Imaginary Hobbit Ring To Class     Author: Stephen D Foster Jr February 1, 2015 1:55 pm

A nine-year-old boy has been suspended by officials at a Texas school because they believe bringing an imaginary Hobbit ring to class is an act of terrorism.

When Aiden Steward watched “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” earlier this week with his family, he naturally wanted to pretend to be a character from the film. Specifically, he pretended to be Bilbo Baggins, the hesitantly brave hero who acquires a magic ring from the creature Gollum in the first movie in the trilogy, which is based on a book written by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Forged at the fictional location of Mount Doom, it is “the one ring to rule them all,” giving the wearer the power of invisibility. The power of the ring aided Bilbo during his journey. So, Aiden brought a ring of his own to Kermit Elementary School and told his friends that they, too, could become invisible by using his ring. Again, the ring had no powers whatsoever, because this is reality.
This being Texas, of course, school officials for some reason believed Aiden was making threats of terrorism against his friends with a magical object and suspended him, much to the disbelief of his parents.
John Steward, Aiden’s father, told the New York Daily News, “It sounded unbelievable.”

“Kids act out movies that they see. When I watched Superman as a kid, I went outside and tried to fly. I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend’s existence. If he did, I’m sure he’d bring him right back.”

Principal Roxanne Greer has cowardly declined to comment on the matter, citing student privacy, but it’s most likely that she is just too embarrassed about the situation to make a statement.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Kermit Elementary has punished Aiden for things that seem to only bother Texas.
Aiden once brought his favorite book to school to impress his teacher, but school officials freaked out because “The Big Book of Knowledge” had a section about pregnancy and included an illustration of a pregnant woman. In another innocuous incident, Aiden referred to a black student as black, which drew yet another suspension from the school.
To recap, school officials at Kermit Elementary School in Texas have suspended a boy three times for three ridiculous reasons. They couldn’t handle an imaginary magical ring from a beloved work of fantasy fiction which is carried by many school libraries. They couldn’t handle a children’s book full of facts that help kids learn. And they couldn’t handle a nine-year-old boy knowing what color a classmate’s skin is.
Once again, Texas proves that it is an embarrassment to the nation.

     In the nearly two years since his death, we’ve seen the Obama administration do their best to create a narrative that promotes fear of guns and Second Amendment supporters, never missing an opportunity to turn a tragedy into political gain.
     Time and again liberals have attempted to implement bans or tighter regulations over high capacity magazines, assault weapons, and handguns at both the state and federal level.
     Folks who are uninformed neglect to see the danger in implementing even the slightest of these gun control policies, being blinded to the fact it’s not just about the guns, but about taking away our freedom.
     Without the Second Amendment, without the right to own a firearm, it’s impossible to stand up against tyrannical government and keep them from taking away our other rights.
     History has shown that when a free society crumbles to tyranny, the first liberties to go are guns and speech.
     This is why gun rights activists fight so hard against the anti-gun crowd, because those dolts have been brainwashed by a false narrative of fear.
     They’re so caught up in their frenzied emotions they can’t see the truth.
Guns save lives. They also protect freedom.
     Let’s honor Chris Kyle’s legacy and his strong belief in the Second Amendment by electing more pro-gun candidates in Congress, as well as pushing hard for pro-gun legislation both in our local areas and at the federal level.

Black Gangs Attacking Whites in Downtown St. Paul Minnesota John Hawkins' Right Wing News Media Ignoring the Story | For months the media in St. Paul, Minnesota has pretty much ignored the roving gangs of blacks randomly attacking white people in the downtown area of the city, but this month they are finally reporting the story. In one case a gang of black teens attacked and beat two white men in an overhead walkway, in another they attacked people in a restaurant and stole cell phones, in another they attacked people on the street, but these attacks have been going on for months.

The attacks have been occurring since September and the media in St. Paul is finally getting around to reporting it…

  Notice that the first person that ABC 5 interviews is a black guy saying that he is worried about being downtown and getting attacked. But it isn’t young black men getting attacked it is young black men doing the attacking.

Even in reporting the story months late the media lies about it.

New Mexico toddler shoots father, pregnant mother,

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –  A 3-year-old boy found a handgun in his mother's purse and fired just one shot that wounded both his parents at an Albuquerque motel on Saturday, police said.

According to investigators, the toddler apparently reached for an iPod but found the loaded weapon. Police believe the shooting to be accidental.

The bullet first struck his father in the buttock and then hit the right shoulder of his mother, who is eight months pregnant, police said. His 2-year-old sister was present but unhurt.

Both injuries are non-life threatening, authorities said.
Justin Reynolds told KOB-TV that he and his girlfriend, Monique Villescas, were getting ready to order pizza when the toddler fired the shot.
"It was like if I was to get up shake your hand and sat back down. That's how fast it happened," Reynolds said." All of a sudden we heard a gun go off and the next minute I realized my girlfriend was bleeding. Then, I sat down and realized I was shot, too."
Reynolds said he called 911 and grabbed some towels to try to stop her bleeding.
"I was more worried about my girlfriend than myself and anything else that was going on. And my son because I didn't know if he had shot himself or not," said Reynolds. "He was shocked and crying. It was traumatizing."
Police said in a statement that the father was treated and released, while the mother was hospitalized in stable condition.
"This case will be forwarded to the DA's office and pending charges of felony criminal negligence will be reviewed on both parents," Albuquerque police Simon Drobik spokesman said.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that the family was living in a room at the America's Best Value Inn where the shooting occurred.
Police said child care officials are taking care of the children.
Jonathan Hutson, a spokesman for the Washington-based Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence, said the shooting should serve as a reminder to all parents to keep guns locked away securely.

Long after his days as Magnum P.I., Tom Selleck is still our hero. He’s one of the most underrated celebrities and his heart of gold happens to have a pretty conservative bent.

Not only is his show Blue Bloods growing more and more popular, but its strong family values and solid message about the value of our Policemen and women is nothing short of patriotic.

In a time when hatred for our men and women in uniform is at an all time high, Selleck appeared on The Talk where he talked about the show that is showing the real-life struggles of cops. When the ladies showed a clip from Blue Bloods, the message was so powerful and needed in our nation that even Selleck teared up as he watched!

 Cops are held to a higher standard, but never forget that they are people too. I’m not asking anyone to cut us slack, not at all. But a little recognition for the conditions under which our men and women operate, that would go a long way.”

Police officers make mistakes too, but most people will never understand what it’s like to be forced, every day, to make decisions that are literally life and death. Most cops are good people who have to work under the kind of stress that the average person can’t even fathom — the least we can do is stand behind them as they risk their lives to protect ours.

A newly-discovered dinosaur species in China has a neck that spans half of its body.

Here's a dinosaur that really knows how to stick its neck out above the rest.

Called the "dragon of Qijiang," for the Chinese city in which the fossil was found, the newly-discovered dinosaur species has a lightweight neck that spans half the length of its 50-foot body.

The dinosaur, a variety of sauropod, is believed to have lived 160 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period, according to paleontologists at the University of Alberta who excavated the fossils. Construction workers first uncovered the fossil in 2006, the researchers noted.

 

The physical attributes of the dinosaur, especially its long neck, are similar to the traits of mythical dragons, which inspired its name.

"I wonder if the ancient Chinese stumbled upon a skeleton of a long-necked dinosaur like Qijianglong and pictured that mythical creature," Tetsuto Miyashita, a paleontologist who worked on the project, said in a statement.

The findings were published on Wednesday in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.

Carrying around such a long neck was surprisingly easy for the dinosaur, since paleontologists said they believe its vertebrae were filled with air, making it lightweight despite its incredible size.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama called for a surge in government spending Thursday, setting up a certain clash with Republicans who insist that federal spending must be held in check. The proposal from the president reflects the White House's newfound confidence in the economy. It comes two months after the president's fellow Democrats were routed in November elections that gave Republicans control of both houses of Congress.
Presidential budgets are proposals that seldom resemble what Congress eventually passes, and Republicans are expected to make major changes to Obama's plan.
