Column: It's impeaching Donald Trump

And you thought Democrats won the House out of fear Republicans 

would drop coverage of preexisting conditions. That they wanted to 

spend this Congress addressing the cost of prescription drugs, 

building roads and bridges, resolving the legal status of DACA 

recipients, expanding gun background checks. Don't be silly! 

Rashida Tlaib let spill the real Democratic agenda back in January,

 when she said they were going to "impeach the motherf—er."

Democrats have a problem. The base wants to impeach President 

Trump, ASAP, but the public does not. Indeed, Trump's approval 4

rating is the highest it’s been in the Gallup survey, right around 

Obama's at this point in his term. The brute facts of public opinion 

suggest that the impeachment of Trump would look more like Bill 

Clinton's trial than Richard Nixon's. Not only would Trump remain in

 office; the backlash might deprive the Democrats of their 17-seat 

House majority.

For months, Nancy Pelosi's solution has been to walk right up to the 

line of impeachment without actually crossing it. Unleash committee 

chairmen to fire their subpoena cannons in every direction. Make 

unrealistic demands of Attorney General Barr. Have Swalwell and 

Lieu and the rest of the cable gang keep alive the conspiracy theory

 that the Trump campaign was in criminal cahoots with Russia. Drag

 out the process into next year, when a weakened and bedraggled 

Trump faces the eventual Democratic nominee. That way Pelosi gets

 the political benefits of impeachment without the costs.

It's not working. Pelosi's rhetoric has moved in the direction of 

Rashida's (minus the profanity). She's gone from saying Trump isn't

 worth impeachment, to saying Trump is goading the Democrats into

 impeachment, to saying Trump is "self-impeaching," if that's even a 

thing. She jokes about the jail cell in the basement of Congress, her 

Judiciary Committee has found Barr in contempt, and she shares 

Jerry Nadler's hysterical opinion that the United States is in the midst

 of a constitutional crisis because he can't read the grand jury 

information of a report you can download for free. On the other side

 of the building, Chuck Schumer is accusing Mitch McConnell of 

aiding and abetting a crime that Robert Mueller could not bring 

himself to say actually happened.

What changed? President Trump's preference for confrontation over

 consensus is part of the reason, but only a part. Congress and the 

president fight all the time. The reality is that impeachment talk is the

 only thing holding the Democrats together. Pelosi's heralded agenda

 is a flop. Her party is divided on health care, on immigration, on 

abortion. Whatever legislation she does pass is destined to meet 

the Grim Reaper in the Senate. The two-dozen 2020 candidates are

 uninspiring. There's no war to defund. And the economic headlines 

are dynamite.

Legal warfare against Trump obscures these weaknesses. Doesn't 

matter if no voter brings up Mueller outside the Beltway. Without 

teasing impeachment, no one would care about Democrats inside 

the Beltway. Two of three cable news channels are desperate for 

Trump scandals, real or imagined. The Democrats might as well 

give it to them. Or at least pretend to.

In recent weeks the Democrats have turned into a bizarre version of 

the caricature of Trump they regularly denounce. They lambaste 

Trump for indulging in conspiracy theories, but the Russia 

investigation has become their Benghazi, a scandal too complicated 

and not quite substantive enough to inflame the public imagination. 

They went after Trump for the "lock her up" chants at his rallies, but 

flirt with jailing both the attorney general and secretary of the Treasury,

 passed a New York state law directed at a single individual (forbidden

 in the Constitution as a bill of attainder), and speculate endlessly 

about how the president might one day end up behind bars. Pelosi 

says she worries Trump might not accept a loss in 2020 as Hillary 

Clinton says the election was stolen from her and the entire 

Democratic party indulges in the ludicrous fantasy that Stacey Abrams 

is the legitimate governor of a state she lost by more than 50,000 

votes amidst record minority turnout.

Petition to Impeach Rep. Ilhan Omar Skyrockets Past Goal, Sent to Pelosi

A petition to impeach anti-Semitic Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) demolished its goal of 5,000 signatures in just a few days, sending a clear message to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

As of Tuesday night, the petition had earned more than 60,070 signatures — or 121% of the original goal. It's only going to continue to grow.

A newly discovered video of Democrat Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar shows the lawmaker mocking Americans for being scared of the al-Qaeda terrorist group.

The video surfaced just says after she referred to the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something.”

In the video, Omar is seen recalling listening to a college professor talk about the terrorist group, mocking him for externalizing his anxiety about al-Qaeda.

“The thing that was interesting it the was was that every time the professor said ‘al-Qaeda’ he sort of, his shoulders went up,” Omar said.

She then mockingly acted out the professor’s mannerisms when he would talk about al-Qaeda and Hezbollah. Omar and the host both found the topic hilarious.

The Democrat went on to equate those terrorist groups with U.S. and British forces.

“But it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity. You don’t say ‘England’ with an intensity. You don’t say ‘the Army’ with an intensity,” Omar said. “But you say these names because you want that word to carry weight.”

Neither Marxism or Islam are consistent with the founding principles of our nation, and the longer we allow politicians like this to have a platform and be taken seriously as representatives of we the people, the closer we inch to the brink of collapse.

The website Conservative Firing Line recently came across a video that professes to be that of a member of ISIS openly praising the Muslim Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib along with their socialist sister-in-arms, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The video is unverified, and its authenticity is highly questionable. 
However, whether it is parody or real, the message is still quite true: these Congresswomen enable ISIS.

Rush Limbaugh provided some "off-the-cuff reaction" to the explosive congressional hearing with Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday and particularly drew attention to an exchange about which Rush exclaimed, "I’ve never seen anything like it before."

Limbaugh started the segment by introducing a clip of Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono's "questioning" of Barr that began not with any questions, but rather, as he put it, an explosion of "vicious, unrestrained, pure, raw hatred" and "slander."

"Mr. Barr, now the American people know that you are no different from Rudy Giuliani or Kellyanne Conway, or any of the other people that sacrificed their once decent reputation for the grifter and liar who sits in the Oval Office," the Hawaii senator began in what turned out to be a lengthy series of partisan accusations against Barr.

In a pair of house editorials that echoed a number of my central themes and points from yesterday, the right-leaning editors of the Wall Street Journal and National Review defended Attorney General William Barr from the Left's scurrilous and desperate attacks against him, lambasting Democrats for their hysterical overreach. Nancy Pelosi Says Attorney General William Barr Lied to Congress

(WASHINGTON) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is asserting that Attorney General Robert Barr has committed a crime by lying to Congress.

At a news conference Thursday, Pelosi ramped up pressure on Barr, who boycotted a House hearing but testified for several hours Wednesday to a Senate panel about special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

Pelosi said Barr’s testimony to Congress raised “deadly serious” questions. She said, “The attorney general of the United States of America was not telling the truth to the Congress of the United states. That’s a crime.”

Pelosi didn’t say what testimony she was referring to, but Democrats have seized on Barr’s testimony from last month in which he appeared unaware of concerns from Mueller’s team over the way he had characterized their work.

Barr said Wednesday his answer was not misleading because he had been in touch with Mueller, rather than members of his team, and that the concerns were mostly about process and not substance.

Pelosi also said that administration refusals to respect subpoenas by House committee is “very, very serious” and noted that ignoring congressional subpoenas was one of the articles of impeachment against former President Richard Nixon.

Mississippi flag pulled from ‘Avenue of the States’ to heed DNC protester demands   July 26, 2016  By Victor Skinner 

Protesters at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia were marching down Broad Street – through the city’s revamped “Avenue of the States” – when they came across an injustice too blatant to ignore: the Mississippi state flag.

The flag includes the Confederate stars and bars emblem, which greatly offended liberals in town for the convention. About 50 or so who were participating in a march to support Sen. Bernie Sanders took a detour to gather around a lamppost with the flag, where folks stood in the roadway and shouted for its removal, The Clarion-Ledger reports.

One man attempted to climb the pole to remove the flag, and another tried to use a rope to pull in down, but police intervened.

“Protesters gathered under a Mississippi state flag (Confederate flag in it) yelling ‘take it down,’” MISSISSIPPI FLAG TAKEN DOWN posted to Twitter along with a video of the melee.

The video shows several protesters waiving their own flags, some promoting communism, while yelling “racist flag” and “Black Lives Matter.”

“Philadelphia police were heckled when they kept protesters from climbing the pole to remove the flags,” the Philly Voice reports.

After a couple of hours, city officials relented and removed the Mississippi flag and another one nearby, Philadelphia first deputy managing director Brian Abernathy told the news site.

Abernathy claims that city officials received complaints about the flag before protesters with the Democratic convention demanded its removal.

“Here is the Mississippi flag getting removed,” DNC PHILLY wrote in a video post to Twitter showing a worker in a bucket truck pulling the flag down to cheers from the crowd.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that Mississippi is the last state in the nation to still feature the Confederate emblem in its flag after attempts to change it in 2016 died in a legislative committee.

News 96.5 highlighted the removal and several Twitter posts about the incident.

Malcolm Quinn posted images of the activists waiving communist flags with the message: “#DNCinPHL Protesters have no problem waiving a Marxist flag, but they see a confederate flag and they are triggered!”

Others sounded off in the comments.

“If they don’t like the Mississippi state flag, they should take that up with Mississippi instead of causing a bunch of hassle for Philly cops who are just trying to do their job on a street that happens to have states’ flags on display,” Mike M wrote.

“Not only should the Mississippi flag still be up on the flagpole, the pole itself should be ‘liberally’ greased to prevent law-abiding Democrats from climbing up and illegally removing it,” PAINKING added.

“Maybe they should try doing something that will actually make a difference in the movement,” Corset Love wrote. “I’m sure there is something more important they could be doing.”

PREDICTABLE: Minimum Wage Increase In New York City Leads To Job Losses, Price Increases  By Ashe Schow April 8, 2019

Democrats continue to insist American cities should increase the minimum wage to at least $15 an hour, even as the progressive cities that have done so have been a model for the job losses that will come as a result of the policy.

The latest example comes from New York City, where an online survey from the New York City Hospitality Alliance – which represents NYC restaurants – found the wage increase has hurt restaurant workers who were supposed to be helped by the higher minimum wage.

The New York Post reported last week that the survey found job losses due to the policy. Andrew Rigie, NYCHA’s executive director, told the Post that in 2018, “full-service restaurants recorded a 1.6 percent job loss, which is the first recorded annual loss in two decades.”

The survey also found that nearly one-third of respondents planned to “eliminate jobs” and a majority would raise prices due to the increased minimum wage, which took effect on December 31, 2018.

While the policy wasn’t in effect when the actual job losses occurred, it was well-known that it was coming, and so it is likely that restaurant owners reacted accordingly in preparation. Further, respondents to the online survey said they plan to continue cutting jobs and hours because of the policy.

“A total of 76.5 percent of full-service restaurant respondents reduced employee hours, and 36 percent eliminated jobs in 2018,” the Post reported of the survey. “Also, 75 percent of limited-service restaurant respondents reported that they will reduce employee hours, and 53 percent will eliminate jobs in 2019 as a result of the wage increases, according to the survey.”

A spokeswoman for Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), defended the policies by falling back on the feel-good claim that they helped workers.

“All New Yorkers deserve to make a living wage and under the governor’s leadership, more minimum-wage workers than ever before have received an increase in their wages. The fact is that increasing the minimum wage puts more money in the pockets of hardworking New Yorkers, which creates more demand for local businesses and increases economic activity,” the spokeswoman told the Post.

Last October, Amazon, New York University, and the University of Washington released a year-long study of Seattle’s minimum wage. What they found lined up with the results of the NYCHA survey.

A small percentage of low-wage earners who had more experience received a slight pay increase and had their hours cut. So, basically, they made the same amount of money but had to work less for it. Everyone else had their hours cut to such an extent that making more per hour didn’t help. Low-skilled workers with less experience found it difficult to even find a job in the first place.

“The economists also looked at rates of entry, or how many people, who did not work before and have no skills, entered the labor market following the wage increase,” Quartz reported of the survey. “The estimate that right after the minimum wage went up, entry rates flattened and eventually fell as the minimum wage went up further, suggesting less experienced workers were offered fewer opportunities for work. Meanwhile, in neighboring counties, entry rates continued to increase before leveling off in 2017.”
