And taking handlesnoff of drinking fountains on bike and walking paths "MAKE IT HURT"

Last week I wrote a column accusing the president of having a vindictive streak -- of deliberately trying to make the lives of average Americans worse just so he could score ideological and political points.
We already knew from how he handled the budget sequester that Obama liked this approach. He ordered Cabinet secretaries not to do their jobs -- i.e., to manage as best they could under spending restraints -- but instead to find ways to make the cuts needlessly painful for innocents caught in the Beltway crossfire.
They dusted off the same playbook for the shutdown. As one park ranger told the Washington Times, "We've been told to make life as difficult for people as we can."View Full Article
Obama Spends $100,000 to Shut Down Free Memorials

Today, he held a news conference where he shamelessly blamed Republicans for all of the nation’s problems, including the recent government shutdown. But Obama can’t see the own irony in his criticisms.

As we head into the second week of the federal government’s shutdown, Obama has saved several programs and facilities from closing their doors because they offer him political support. But facilities that remain open 24 hours a day, unguarded and without gates, are being boarded up and paid for by taxpayers.

Last week, in response to the shutdown, WWII veterans from all over the country traveled to the WWII Memorial in downtown Washington, D.C. to protest the government’s exploits. Many veterans blamed Obama’s weak leadership as a factor in the shutdown.

Instead of Obama listening to the Greatest Generation’s criticisms, he simply shut down the memorial. Obama spent an estimated $100,000 on barricades for the WWII Memorial—an unguarded landmark that’s open to the public 24/7.

Park rangers told reporters, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Obama’s behavior is disgusting in itself.

NewsBusted: IRS, Democrat Politicians and NBC

     October  2013
Jodi Miller delivers the latest headlines with a fresh comedic twist.

    Wait a minute.....DID THEY SAY "CBS" ??

Video: CBS News Slams "Disastrous" Obamacare

A follow-up to this morning's post chronicling Obamacare's myriad failures; CBS News surveys the wreckage and renders an unavoidable verdict (via Hot Air):

"The president's signature achievement has become the butt of late night jokes...no one knows how many people have managed to enroll, and the administration refuses to release those numbers. The website's launch has been nothing short of disastrous. Media outlets have struggled to find anyone who's actually been successful."

If a one-year delay of the Obamacare mandate tax is good enough for Jon Stewart, Wolf Blitzer and the vast majority of the American people, why won't Democrats in Washington even consider it? To add insult to injury, how much did taxpayers fork over to build the non-functioning Obamacare website? According to government records, the figure appears to be north of $600 million, (somewhat appropriately) way over budget:

Reading through this makes me think.....if the affordable care act is so good, WHY DOES HE NEED A PERSONAL ARMY TO ENFORCE IT ??

An Update On Obama’s Personal Army…Because the American military swears an allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, and not to the President, could Obama’s strategy be to strip our Armed Services and shift their dollars into an all powerful civilian Army under his command?  Two tips coming into CiR this week surprisingly connect just these dots and link these machinations to Obamacare funding.

Lib Blog Think Progress: LA Police Dogs Are Racist!…

A new report on the Los Angeles Sheriff Department Canine Special Detail finds that the number of minority individuals bitten by police dogs has dramatically increased between 2004 to 2012. In a department already plagued by accusations of racial targeting, 100 percent of dog bite victims in the first six months of 2013 were blacks and Latinos.
In the past nine years, the minority-heavy, urban areas of Century, City of Industry, Compton, Lakewood, and South LA/Lennox, experienced more dog bites than 21 other agencies or stations combined.

Now gov’t trying to block people from looking at Mt. Rushmore (seriously)

Not satisfied shutting the monument even though the State offered to pay to keep it open, the feds placed cones to block viewing areas in the distance.

As bad as the Battle of the Barrycades is in Washington, D.C., forcing WWII Vets to have to push their way past barricades at the WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, and Iwo Jima Memorial, what the feds did at Mount Rushmore has to be the most petty and insane of them all.
The feds didn’t just shut the access roads — even though the state offered to pay to keep them open — it erected cones along a viewing road in the distance to prevent people from pulling over to view the presidential monument

Living, breathing man will remain dead in the eyes of Ohio law

    CNN | Posted on

    From CNN:
An Ohio man who has been legally dead since 1994 will remain so in the eyes of the law after losing his complaint to overturn his death filing, according to authorities.
Donald Miller, 61, testified Monday that he disappeared in 1986 after losing his job, leaving behind a wife, two children and thousands of dollars of unpaid child support, according to James Hammer, the attorney for Miller’s ex-wife, Robin Miller. He was declared legally dead eight years later.
Donald Miller said he returned to Ohio “around 2005″ with no knowledge of his legal death, and that he had hoped to reestablish his Social Security number.
A legal statute in Ohio prevents changes to death rulings once three years have passed, Hammer told CNN, and Judge Allan Davis ruled accordingly in Hancock County Probate

SHAME HE CAN'T BE SIDELINED PERMANENTLY ALONG WITH HIS BOSS

Harry Reid has Sidelined Joe Biden

    Heather Ginsberg | Oct 10, 2013

Wow, that Democratic Party sure is looking strong. Even Harry Reid sees what a detriment it is to have Vice President Joe Biden on their side of the aisle during the government shutdown.
When President Obama and Harry Reid met earlier this week about a new debt-limit plan, the Senate Majority Leader only had one stipulation: No Joe Biden. Even though Biden did attend last week’s meeting with congressional leaders, Leader Reid has basically prevented Biden from any more potential deal talks.
Isn’t it funny though that just this past New Year’s the Democrats were begging and pleading to have Joe do their negotiating? Well the most amusing part is that they actually feel he gave up too much!! And now, they are keeping him away from the negotiation table because of those actions.      STORY

Boehner offers debt extension; interim resolution?

    news-national-20131010-US--Budget.Battle

WASHINGTON (AP) — Facing a fresh deadline, House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that Republicans would vote to extend the government's ability to borrow money for six weeks — but only if President Barack Obama first agrees to fresh negotiations on spending cuts. Under the Republican plan, the partial government shutdown would continue in the meantime.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, following a 90 minute meeting with Obama, appeared to throw cold water on the plan. Asked whether Democrats would negotiate with Republicans with the government shuttered, he declared, "Not going to happen."

Earlier, the White House had said Obama "would likely sign" a short term extension of the debt cap and did not rule out his doing so even if the government remained partly closed. But the White House made no promises that Obama would hold negotiations under those circumstances.

"He will not pay ransom in exchange for the Republicans in the House doing their job," said spokesman Jay Carney.

Boehner and other House GOP leaders were headed to the White House late Thursday for their own meeting with Obama.

    SURE......HE'LL KEEP WORKING WITH CONGRESS

"To the dedicated and hard-working employees of the United States Government: The Federal Government is America's largest employer, with more than 2 million civilian workers and 1.4 million active duty military who serve in all 50 States and around the world. But Congress has failed to meet its responsibility to pass a budget before the fiscal year that begins today. And that means much of our Government must shut down effective today.   I want you to know that I will keep working to get Congress to reopen the Government.                                                                                                                Despite telling federal employees he will work with Congress, President Obama has repeatedly told Speaker of the House John Boehner he will not negotiate.    READ REST OF STORY

Shutdown Fallout: Obama Approval Rating Slides to 37 Percent

President Obama's approval rating is not doing so hot these days.
    Townhall's Guy Benson writes:

The American people, needless to say, are disgusted by the spectacle playing out on Capitol Hill. Despite his efforts to play the role of an above-the-fray, frustrated bystander, Obama is also taking a hit from this mess. As well he should. Between his atrocious leadership on shutdown talks, which he's single-handedly blocked, and the ongoing Obamacare meltdown, Obama's overall job approval has sunk to 37 percent. For perspective, as he prepared to leave office in January of 2009, President Bush's approval rating was 34 percent. This ain't pretty:

ARIEL CASTROS SUICIDE IN PRISON, MAY NOT HAVE BEEN A SUICIDE

Auto-erotic asphyxiation possible in Castro death

    ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS,
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation, not suicide, and two prison guards falsified logs documenting their observation of him in the hours before he died, the state said Thursday.

Castro's pants and underwear were pulled down to his ankles when he was found, leading the state to forward those facts to the state highway patrol to consider the possibility of auto-erotic asphyxiation, according to the report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

The report suggests — but does not conclude — that Castro may have died as the result of auto-erotic asphyxiation, whereby individuals achieve sexual satisfaction by briefly choking themselves into unconsciousness.

Detective arrested in NYC motorcycle-SUV melee

    news-national-20131009-US-Bikers-SUV-Assault

NEW YORK (AP) — An undercover police detective was arrested as fallout from a burst of motorcyclist mayhem reached a new level, with investigators saying the officer was shown on video hitting and kicking an SUV before bikers attacked its driver.

Wojciech Braszczok, who was off-duty when he joined a motorcycle rally that spiraled into violence, was expected to be arraigned Wednesday. He surrendered Tuesday to face riot and criminal mischief charges, New York Police Department spokesman John McCarthy said.

There was no immediate response to phone messages left with Braszczok's attorney, Phil Karasyk. He had previously said the 10-year NYPD veteran only witnessed other bikers attacking the vehicle.

But investigators discovered video evidence showing Braszczok punching an already damaged back window, then twice kicking the side of the SUV before leaving the scene, according to two people familiar with the case. The people weren't authorized to discuss the inquiry and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.    read story

Obama supporters discover ObamaCare raises their premiums

     posted by Jason Pye
Opponents of ObamaCare tried to warn Americans, particular those who are covered through an individual health insurance policy, that their premiums would go up because of the law. But many either didn’t listen or dismissed the concerns.
But the San Jose Mercury News recently took note of complaints about the dramatic increase in premiums that two supporters of President Obama will see because of ObamaCare (emphasis added):
Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.
Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.
Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four.
    […]
“I was laughing at Boehner — until the mail came today,” Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.
“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”

Police arrest 8 House members at immigration rally

    news-politics-20131008-US-Immigration-Rally

WASHINGTON (AP) — At least eight Democratic members of the House were among about 200 people arrested Tuesday after they blocked a main street near the Capitol during a massive rally seeking to push Republicans to hold a vote on a stalled immigration reform bill.
Police would not identify those arrested. Representatives of the social policy organization Center for Community Change and The Associated Press witnessed the arrests of Reps. John Lewis, D-Ga.; Luis Gutiérrez, D-Ill.; Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz.; Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; Joseph Crowley and Charles Rangel, both D-N.Y.; Al Green, D-Texas; and Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill.,
Representatives of other groups whose members attended the rally, such as United Farm Workers and Farmworker Justice, confirmed that several of their members were arrested as well.
Those arrested will be charged with "crowding, obstructing and incommoding" under the local laws of the District of Columbia, the Capitol Police said. The arrests began about 4 p.m. EDT and had ended two hours later, police said in a statement           .

RI 7th-grader appeals suspension for gun keychain

COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) — The family of a Rhode Island seventh-grader who was suspended for three days for having a small toy gun keychain at school is appealing the suspension.

WJAR-TV (http://bit.ly/198ZOTV ) reports the family of 12-year-old Joseph Lyssikatos (lis-ih-KAH'-tos) is appealing Monday to the superintendent in the town of Coventry.

Joseph was suspended last month after bringing a 2-inch keychain he won at an arcade to Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School. Another student found it and showed it off to classmates, and Joseph was suspended.

He has already served the suspension, but his parents hope to get it expunged from his record so Joseph can try for perfect attendance this year.

Health law glitches: fatal or fleeting?

    news-national-20131007-US-Health-Overhaul

WASHINGTON (AP) — The glitch-ridden rollout of President Barack Obama's health care law has opponents crowing: "Told you so!" and insisting it should be paused, if not scrapped.

But others, including insurance companies, say there's still enough time to fix the online enrollment system before uninsured Americans start getting coverage on Jan. 1.
After emergency repairs over the weekend, consumers in different parts of the country Monday continued to report delays on healthcare.gov, as well as problems setting up security questions for their accounts. The administration says the site's crowded electronic "waiting room" is thinning out. Still, officials announced it will be down again for a few hours starting at 1 a.m. Tuesday for more upgrades and fixes.                  FULL STORY
