French Reporters Scolded For Oval Office Selfies

Their boss was caught snapping himself with other World leaders at Nelson Mandela’s funeral but White House officials were not amused when French journalists took selfies in the Oval Office, according to one reporter.

Staff told the hacks “it was not the done thing” to take a cellphone picture of yourself in the West Wing as they covered the visit of French President Francoise Hollande, according to Laurence Haim, a reporter with French TV station, Canal Plus.

Those called out included Thomas Wieder, a reporter with the French newspaper Le Monde, who grinned broadly as he snapped himself with President Obama and Hollande in the background.

 

It wasn’t only reporters play with their gadgets - as politicians also got in on the act. French lawmaker Frederic Lefebvre also took a selfie of himself on the White House lawn.

 

Haim shunned the limelight, taking a candid shot of the world leaders instead.

Obama was famously caught taking his own selfie with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and her U.K. counterpart David Cameron at the memorial service for former South African president Nelson Mandela.
