Fellow regular Morning Joe contributor Mark Halperin begins:
“The rollout is unacceptable; the secrecy is unacceptable. It begins with not saying how many people have enrolled. I don’t understand any reason why they can’t release that data.”
Host Joe Scarborough then turns to Mike Barnacle:
“These people want to run our healthcare system … and yet, they’re not telling us what’s going wrong with our system?”Barnacle: “They’re lying about it now. They’re not depriving us of information. They’re outright lying about what’s going on.”Scarborough: “Give me specifics – what are they lying about?”Barnacle: “They’re lying about the numbers who have enrolled; the numbers who have actually signed up. They keep using the world ‘unacceptable.’ This is outrageous, it’s not ‘unacceptable. They’ve had two years to pull this together.”
Halperin and Barnacle – hardly conservatives – are correct. For an explanation of why the enrollment data released by the administration is misleading – to say the least – read:
As we reported earlier today, Barack Obama is expected to make a statement on the ObamaCare controversy later today, with an AP reporter saying he will take responsibility for the ongoing mess. Should be an interesting day.
