Here’s a case in point tale out of a liberal city in a liberal state: Portland, Oregon.
One of the many knocks on liberal politics is that productivity is punished while freeloading is rewarded. And an 11-year-old girl got a real-life lesson in that recently.
According to ABC News, Madison Root wanted to help her dad pay for her braces. So, she cut some mistletoe from her uncle’s farm, wrapped it up and attempted to sell it. Instead, she became entangled in red tape.
As noted in the report, a private security guard hired by Portland Saturday Market asked her to cease selling the mistletoe. He cited city rules banning conducting business or soliciting at a park without approval and documentation.
The guard went on to inform Root that she could sell her mistletoe on the sidewalk outside the park or ask for donations.
