Yesterday, we reported on a Washington man who was shot in the head while attempting to rob an armored truck at a Bank of America in Lakewood.
Now, his wife, who has since been arrested on suspicion of acting as his getaway driver, is claiming that her husband is just a victim of “racial profiling.”
On Fundly, 26-year-old Brittney Winston has set up a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for her husband, 27-year-old Michael David Winston II’s, legal funds. She is asking for $100,000. She has raised $110 as of Friday afternoon.
“2 Days before my daughters second birthday my husband was gunned down at a bank in Lakewood Washington for ‘looking suspicious,’” Brittney wrote on the page. “He was not there to harm anyone. He was there to open an account, he is an Army Vet and he carries a firearm he likely forgot it was on him and when an armored car guard saw it he opened fire on my husband.”
“He shot him once in the head and then continued firing as my husband ran from him,” she continued. “My husband never returned fire even though he was armed. He was shot 4 times in his back this was not self defense. This was racial profiling and attempted murder.”
“My husband has since been called a gang member, a bad guy, and a bank robber his character being completely smeared by local media and lying cops,” she claims. “He is NONE of these. He is a husband, father, son, brother, good person, INNOCENT VICTIM. Please help me raise money to stop the lying racist police officers of Lakewood WA, who have done nothing but lie about everything since the day this happened and are trying to destroy our family.”
