A Colorado teen has been suspended and harassed by the local school board for going target shooting with his mother.
Nate Evans is a junior at Loveland High School in Loveland, CO.
He posted this short video of a target shooting outing with his mother recently.
A nervous nellie called the local police and reported Nate as a danger to the community.
Police banged on the door and Nate’s mom Justine was forced to explain that it was a perfectly legal target shooting outing and that Nate was not a “threat”.
This was not good enough for the Loveland school bureaucrats who demanded Justine appear at a “threat assessment hearing” to defend her son from this charge.
In addition, the school refused to let Nate take home work to keep up in class during his suspension.
Aside from their harassment regarding homework, the school is actually legally correct in demanding the hearing.
It’s mandatory when they receive a “Safe 2 Tell” denouncement. “Safe 2 Tell” is a program designed to allow students to report threats to schools.
However, as you can see from this case, it has made it safe only to harass law-abiding gun owners.
So-called “red flag” laws will have a similar effect if they become widespread. Essentially, anyone would be able to harass a gun owner by simply calling in an anonymous tip and let the bureaucratic forces grind away at them.
