Perhaps school shootings are unstoppable

Arapahoe High School Aapahoe High School                                     by ROBERT WELLER   Reuters provides this image where the latest fatal school shooting in the nation occurred.

Some writers on Allvoices argue often that it is impossible to stop school or other gun violence. They may be right. The public already knows that in nearly every school massacre the killer or killers had tipped their hand..That goes for the Aurora theater shooter also..................Perhaps school shootings are unstoppable
In his post, Rust says the high school's administration is responsible for a "lack of action."

A teaching assistant was killed Tuesday and a fellow student was in custody after a shooting on the campus of Purdue University in Indiana, police and campus authorities said.

Anti-Gun Senator Makes a Fool of Himself

California Democrat Decries 30-Caliber-Magazine-Clip-Guns in Stunning Display of Idiocy
Apparently it’s a rule that, as a lawmaker, you have to tackle societal concepts with which you are stunningly ignorant. State Senator Kevin De Leon, (Democrat from the Socialist Republic of California’s crime ridden city of Los Angeles) recently put his amazingly acute idiocy on full display while talking about guns he thinks should be heavily regulated. Not surprisingly, the Democrat from California’s gang-infested city is a staunch supporter of increased gun control.
Holding what appears to be a weaponized amalgamation of steel and kydex, the senator let slip an incoherent ramble of gun terms that were clearly stacked for theatrical effect, and not accuracy or informative purposes.
“This is a ghost gun” he began

Bill Introduced To Allow Concealed Carry Permits to Transfer Across State Lines Like Drivers Licenses

  IT'S ABOUT TIME !!!!
 Katie Pavlich | Jan 21, 2014
Texas Senator John Cornyn has introduced new legislation that if passed would allow concealed carry holders to travel from state to state without fear of breaking the law. The idea is similar to national reciprocity and concealed carry permits would be recognized as legal just like a drivers license.
San Antonio 1200 WOAI News Radio's Michael Board discussed the legislation with Cornyn yesterday. "It would allow people with a concealed handgun license in Texas to travel to other states and maintain their legal status," Cornyn told 1200 WOAI's Michael Board.
Late last year Illinois finally became the 50th state with concealed carry permissions and more people than ever are applying for permits all over the country. Last week at the SHOT Show is Las Vegas it was clear manufacturers are meeting the high demand of concealed carry firearms with new lines of compact, easily concealable pocket pistols.

Last year, a similar national reciprocity bill in the Senate received more votes than Senator Dianne Feinstein's gun control legislation. National reciprocity received 57 votes and Feinstein's legislation received just 40. Both pieces of legislation failed.

Irony: Wendy Davis Lectures Greg Abbott About Struggling

 Katie Pavlich | Jan 21, 2014
In case you missed it yesterday, the personal story of late-term abortion heroine and Democratic Candidate for Texas   Governor Wendy Davis has crumbled. Davis has repeatedly told the story of her struggle as a single mom who put herself through Harvard but it turns out, that story isn't true. An article published in The Dallas Morning News detailed the real situation of Davis' life. The details aren't  pretty.
Davis was 21, not 19, when she was divorced. She lived only a few months in the family mobile home while separated from her husband before moving into an apartment with her daughter.

A single mother working two jobs, she met Jeff Davis, a lawyer 13 years older than her, married him and had a second daughter. He paid for her last two years at Texas Christian University and her time at Harvard Law School, and kept their two daughters while she was in Boston. When they divorced in 2005, he was granted parental custody, and the girls stayed with him. Wendy Davis was directed to pay child support.
Jeff Davis said that was right around the time the final payment on their Harvard Law School loan was due. “It was ironic,” he said. “I made the last payment, and it was the next day she left.”

Not surprisingly in an effort to take attention away from herself and her lies, Davis is now blaming her Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, for "attacks" on her life and lectured last night on Twitter about the "struggles" Abbott just doesn't understand.

In times of war and national emergency, it's sometimes necessary to sacrifice civil liberties to secure vital gains in public safety. In those cases, we may have to accept a loss of privacy or freedom rather than invite mass slaughter of Americans.
The National Security Agency's domestic phone records collection is not one of those.
Never have so many Americans been brought under surveillance for such a meager payoff, actual or potential. Creating risks to privacy to save lives is one thing. Creating them to accomplish little or nothing is another.
"there has been no instance in which NSA could say with confidence that the outcome would have been different without the section 215 telephony meta-data program."

    Say Hello to Your New

America is on sale and China keeps stepping up to the plate.

This week we learned China holds a record $1.31 trillion of our nation's debt after adding $12.2 billion in December (they're closely followed by Japan at $1.18 trillion).

The news was greeted with the usual outrage and questions over what kind of leverage does this give China over America. For years, it appeared that China has been able to manipulate its currency and the rules, because it supports profligate government spending.

Many wonder: what happens if China cuts off the spigot?                   View Full Article

Record Number of People Attend SHOT Show, Pump $73 Million Into Vegas Economy

     Katie Pavlich | Jan 18, 2014        Recommend
The 2014 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas has come to an end and this year was the most popular year yet. According numbers released Friday from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a record 67,000 people attended this year's show, beating last year's numbers by 5,000. The event pumped $73 million into the Las Vegas economy. More than 1600 companies participated in the week long event, filling up 13-acres of space.
"The State of our industry is renewed. More persons are entering the recreational shooting sports than ever before. More hunters, more target shooters, more women, more diverse groups, more licensed gun owners and, as you all know, more firearms sales," NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti said during the State of the Industry Dinner earlier this week. “Perhaps the best news of all is that, despite tremendous increases in these numbers, violent crime with firearms has decreased dramatically during the last five years, to early 1960s levels.”
In addition, NSSF raised $100,000 through a charity golf event with the PGA Tour for Birdies for the Brave for military homefront groups.

    Doorbell Dash Prankster Shot
    NBCPhiladelphia.com
    updated 1/18/2014

A Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he shot a doorbell-ringing 14-year-old prankster in the foot.
State police in Gettysburg say it appears 28-year-old Erie Steinour was trying to frighten off the teen, who was with other juveniles who were ringing doorbells about 2 a.m. Friday in Biglerville.

Police have charged Steinour with aggravated assault and other crimes for allegedly shooting at the youths as they ran away. The boy's mother drove him to Gettysburg Hospital, and he was later taken to York Trauma Center for treatment of what police say was not a life-threatening wound.

Police say Steinour was arrested after he acknowledged firing the gun.

The Associated Press could not located a listed phone for Steinour and his attorney couldn't be reached Saturday. Online records show he was still in the Adams County Jail.
