White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sought Tuesday to distance the White House from allegations of misusing money from President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, though she did not explicitly deny that any illegal activity might have taken place.

Trump’s inaugural committee, which is just one more extension of the Trump universe under scrutiny from federal prosecutors, was hit with a subpoena on Monday for documents reportedly related to the nonprofit committee’s donors and whether they received any benefits for their contribution. Prosecutors also sought information about attendees at Trump’s 2017 swearing-in and whether any donations were made on behalf of foreign nationals.

Asked in an interview on CNN’s “New Day” if she was “confident” no illegal activity took place on the committee, Sanders responded that “I'm reading the same reports you are this morning, gathering the information.”

She deferred specific questions to the president’s inaugural committee, which is a separate entity from the White House. But she said that “what I do know at this point is this has nothing to do with the White House.”

Sanders has similarly deflected blame when members of the president’s inner circle, most recently his longtime political adviser Roger Stone, have been wrapped up in probes to examine Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Bill Clinton did receive $500,000 to deliver a speech at a Russian bank that was promoting Uranium One stock, according to The New York Times, and the company’s chairman donated $2.35 million to the foundation in four installments as Uranium One was being acquired by Rosatum between 2009 and 2013.

All told, $145 million went to the Clinton Foundation from those linked to Uranium One and UrAsia, but it went to the charity organization and not the Clinton family. Furthermore, most of those donations occurred before and during Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign, according to The Post.

NEWSWEEK Assessment: Yes, the foundation received money and Bill Clinton was paid to give a speech, but there’s no evidence the Clintons were paid by Russians to push through the uranium deal.

Oh, So This Was The Person Who Revealed The Racist Photo On Ralph Northam’s Yearbook Page

Well, it seems support for late-term abortion is what created the fiasco that has embroiled Virginia’s Democratic governor. Pretty much everyone has besieged Gov. Ralph Northam, especially within his own party. They’re urging him to resign after a yearbook photo from his days at Eastern Virginia Medical School was unearthed last week. The picture shows two men donning racist costumes on his 1984 page. One is wearing blackface while the other figure donned Ku Klux Klan garb. Northam apologized for the photo, admitting he was in it last Friday night. He did not specify which person he was in the photo. Was he the KKK man or the blackface dude?

On Saturday, the dumpster fire grew when Northam retracted his apology, saying that wasn’t him in the photo. Then, he admitted to doing blackface, saying he dressed as Michael Jackson in the past. So, Northam’s defense is ‘the photo on my yearbook page that shows someone in blackface isn’t me, but I’ve done blackface before whose pictures haven’t been seen.’

This all started when Northam pretty much endorsed infanticide during a radio interview, where he was asked about a bill proposed by House Delegate Kathy Tran, also a Democrat, who wanted to permit abortion virtually up until the moment of birth. It was an atrocious bill, similar to the legislation recently passed in New York.

Barr’s nomination is not believed to be in any real jeopardy, but the flare-up points to the burgeoning conflict between senior law enforcement officials and political leaders over the Mueller investigation that has gripped Washington for nearly two years.

Lawyers for Catholic Student Nick Sandmann Prepare to Sue Media, Celebrities for Libel  3 Feb 2019  By Warner Todd Huston

Lawyers representing Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann have announced the preparation of letters to be sent to various celebrities, media outlets, and individual journalists who immediately and falsely slandered Sandmann and his classmates for “taunting” a Native American during a trip to Washington D.C.

The student’s lawyers are preparing letters for possible libel and defamation lawsuits, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The list of recipients of the warning letters includes actress Alyssa Milano and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Targeted journalists include Maggie Haberman, David Brooks, and media outlets will include TMZ, CNN, and the New York Times. The attorneys have also identified the dioceses of Covington, Lexington, Louisville, and Baltimore as potential recipients of the letter.

Sandmann family attorney, Todd McMurtry, said of the media outlets and personalities, “They know they crossed the line. Do they want 12 people in Kentucky to decide their fate? I don’t think so.”

McMurtry added that the letters are meant to put an end to the instant attacks from the media before the facts are in.

“We want to change the conversation. We don’t want this to happen again,” McMurtry said. “We want to teach people a lesson.”

“There was a rush by the media to believe what it wanted to believe versus what actually happened,” McMurtry added.

Pa. Governor Calls For Tougher Gun Laws

When Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto announced his intention to ignore state law, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf was right there beside him. Calling Gov. Wolf an enabler wouldn’t exactly be out of line. If Peduto lands in jail over this–which needs to happen–Wolf probably needs to be right there with him. After all, he’s clearly part of Peduto’s thinking on this.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Democrat is now calling for statewide gun control in the wake of the Pittsburgh fiasco.

With family members of gun violence victims by his side, Gov. Tom Wolf renewed his call Tuesday for lawmakers to toughen Pennsylvania’s gun laws, now three months after a truck driver walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue and fatally shot 11 people.

The anti-gun violence rally with Wolf comes at the start of the Republican-controlled Legislature’s new two-year session, and as a top Republican lawmaker suggested that agreement might be found on mental health interventions, rather than gun control.

The shooting in the Tree of Life synagogue is deemed to be the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history, and anti-violence advocates cannot recall a deadlier modern-day mass shooting in Pennsylvania.

Wolf, a Democrat, has long supported a wide range of gun-control and anti-violence measures, and told the rally crowd in the Capitol’s Rotunda that gun violence is unacceptable as an everyday part of American life. Pennsylvania’s lawmakers and Congress must act, he said.

“It is not just synagogues in Pittsburgh that are at risk,” Wolf said. “It’s churches in Lancaster, it’s mosques in Allentown, it’s schools in Erie, it’s movie theaters in Johnstown, it’s concert halls in Philadelphia, colleges in Scranton and even streets in Harrisburg.”

Among the bills already under consideration in Pennsylvania are the usual suspects, namely universal background checks, red flag laws, and an “assault weapon” ban.

However, Wolf had better hope his sentiment’s shared beyond his party if he wants these ideas, plus any others, to have more than a snowball’s chance in hell of reaching his desk. Republicans control both chambers of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. While members of the GOP have stepped in it by supporting red flag laws in many places, still others have shot the measures down. That’s the only one I see having a great chance of passage.

That won’t stop Wolf from asking for it, nor will he try to stop Peduto from breaking state law in order to pass what Wolf can’t get through at the state level. Nor will it stop the Attorney General Josh Shapiro–a man who received campaign donations from Michael Bloomberg–from ignoring the blatant violation of state law.

Then again, who knows. How many Republicans may be feeling the heat right about now? How many are being torched by constituents? I’m assuming mostly party-line votes here, so I could be wrong on any or all of these measures. If you’re in Pennsylvania, it behooves you to step up and call your state legislators and let them know how you feel.

 deemed anti-Semitic. The most interesting aspect: Omar compares her being 

blind to her anti-Semitism to white people who don't understand they have 

"white privilege."

There are so many things wrong with this interaction.

1) If Omar was truly interested in learning how to change her ways and her 

thinking, she would come out and say, "I'm an anti-Semite but I don't want to 

be. Can you please help me?" She would be upfront and honest about it. She 

wouldn't be so wishy washy about where she stands. And she wouldn't make 

an excuse for why she thinks the way she does.

U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office says hackers in Russia stole and altered evidence in an attempt to discredit its probe into Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

In a filing in Washington released on January 30, prosecutors said a Twitter account named @HackingRedstone came online on October 22 to brag it had hacked some of the evidence in the case of a firm charged with funding a Russian propaganda campaign to meddle in the election.

Russia denies interfering in the U.S. election, and Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on January 31 called the latest allegations “a little absurd.”

Mueller’s office said the Twitter account purported to have a stolen copy of evidence provided to the company, Concord Management and Consulting LLC.

“We’ve got access to the Special Counsel Mueller’s probe database as we hacked Russian server with info from the Russian troll case,” the court document quoted the Twitter post as saying.

The data the account published online was “altered and disseminated as part of a disinformation campaign aimed [apparently] at discrediting ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the U.S. political system,” prosecutors said in the filing.

Concord was one of three entities and 13 individuals charged in February 2018 by Mueller as part of a conspiracy to spread disinformation on social media during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Companies listed on the indictment included the Internet Research Agency, known for its “trolling” on social media; Concord Management and Consulting LLC, which is alleged to have provided financial backing for the operation; and Concord Catering.

Embattled Virginia Governor Ralph Northam Abruptly Changes Political Affiliation   February 2, 2019 by streiff   

This is an added twist to the tale of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam who started out defending infanticide and wound up trying to explain away him wearing either blackface or a KKK outfit, he actually won’t say which, in a medical school yearbook photo. Last night he gave a televised statement to tell Virginians, like his political backer Bill Kristol, that he wasn’t going anywhere. This is how it appeared on CNN:

Yep. Somehow, Northam suddenly became a Republican.

Ordinarily you’d think this was an accident but then you have to ask yourself: how is this accident even possible? Why is it that all these mistakes CNN makes run in exactly one direction? When was the last time a damaging but false story was spread about any Democrat by CNN? When was the last time they made a blunder on their chyrons when it hurt a Democrat? Don’t they employ freakin editors at CNN?

The fact that this happens as the left is blowing an artery trying to push the story–presented with no documentary evidence–that Northam was on the verge of switching parties at one point makes it a little hard to credit this as oops.

There are two plausible possibilities. One, someone was goofing around and had constructed this chyron and it accidentally rolled. If true that shows the deep anti-Republican bias in the CNN organization and a blinding lack of discipline in their production operation. Two, they know a lot of their viewers (perhaps most) are in places like gyms, airports, etc. where CNN runs with the sound off. In that case, Northam is effectively labeled as a Republican for most of CNN’s audience. Neither option speaks all that well of CNN’s ability to act as a news gathering organization rather than its default position as part of the Democrat party.

Earlier this week I unpacked Planned Parenthood’s fallacious reporting mechanisms which attempt to hide the fact that they are the nation’s leader in aborting babies.. Planned Parenthood admittedly aborted at least 327,653 unborn babies last year and took in $528.4 million in our tax dollars, 41% of its total revenue, last year.

With that in mind, here is some of what you helped pay for this year with your tax dollars:

• “[A]ctively lobbying in state legislatures” to “protect access to … abortion”;
• Indoctrinating “1.5 million young people” and “18,000 teachers, school staff, and other youth-serving professionals” with “what Planned Parenthood does better than anyone else – provide sex education”;
• Texting “125,000 young people in moments of crisis” about “sex” and “emergency contraception,” i.e. abortion pills; and
• Running “the largest Affordable Care Act [ObamaCare] canvass” in the U.S., ensuring that “1.7 million” people have insurance that covers abortion.

Planned Parenthood also could have used your tax dollars to pay its legal bills, using the courts to implement its radical abortion agenda.  Planned Parenthood spends an entire page of its report touting that it “won court victories protecting abortion” in numerous states, from Arizona to Iowa.

What I find interesting though, is that when he signed the bill on abortion, some people objected very loudly, but I don't recall them demanding he resign. RICHMOND —Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) faced the national uproar over a racist photo from his 1984 medical school yearbook on Saturday and refused to resign, defying nearly the entire Democratic establishment and insisting that it was not his picture.

“I am not the person in that photo that caused this stir,” Northam told media packed into the Executive Mansion, referring to the image of a person dressed in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe on his yearbook page.

“Last night I finally had a chance to sit down and look at the photo in detail,” said Northam, adding that he does not own the yearbook and that it was the first time he had ever seen the photo. “It is not me.”

It was a complete and puzzling turnaround from the day before, when Northam apologized for appearing in a “clearly racist” photo in the yearbook. But even as he denied being in the photo, he acknowledged he once applied black shoe polish to his face to appear as Michael Jackson in a dance competition.

Northam’s comments seemed to have the opposite effect than intended. Calls for his resignation intensified from leaders across the country. The loudest came from state and national Democrats, with some even wondering about impeachment.

“We amplify our call for the Governor to resign,” the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, a key Democratic constituency and onetime ally of Northam’s, said in a statement. “Our confidence in his ability to govern for the over 8 million Virginians has been eviscerated.”

After the news conference, the state’s two Democratic senators, Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine, and Rep. Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D), the dean of the Virginia congressional delegation, called Northam and told him he needed to step down.

L. Douglas Wilder, the former Virginia governor and first African American to lead a state since Reconstruction, said, “It is difficult for anyone who watched the press conference today to conclude that (Northam) has any other choice . . . but to resign.”           READ MORE
