JD Vance may have had a rocky start as a vice-presidential nominee, but he still holds some sway in the book publishing industry. That influence recently took the form of a book that will not be immediately published — a conservative manifesto by Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation and the face of Project 2025, which was supposed to come out next month but has now beenpushed until after the election. The hardline agenda of Project 2025, of course, became a drag on Donald Trump’s reelection bid and the book was likely to make things even worse since Vance had written an admiring foreword.

One key policy pushed repeatedly by Vance and outlined in Project 2025 is Trump’s controversial “Schedule F” proposal, which would strip civil service protections from potentially tens of thousands of federal employees so that they can be replaced by Republican political appointees.

Most provocatively, Vance has suggested in a series of interviews this year that Trump should defy the Supreme Court if the justices invalidated the effort.

The episode is worth scrutinizing not just because the proposal is a key piece of Trump’s likely governing agenda if he wins in November. It also suggests Vance, whom Trump touts as a Yale-educated lawyer, is oblivious to the underlying legal and practical mechanics of this sweeping overhaul as well as the realities of today’s Supreme Court.

The fact is this proposal is almost certainly unlawful and unworkable — but that doesn’t mean the court would block it. The conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court has proved more than willing to contort itself to achieve Republican goals, so there’s no reason to assume any legal challenge to such a policy would result in a clash between Trump and the court.

If Vance isn’t ignorant of the law, then he is instead merely eager to play the role of demagogue and further inflame an already bitter political debate. Ultimately, neither scenario is ideal for a potential vice president.

On the merits, Schedule F is a controversial idea — one that would undermine the civil service system as it has existed for more than a century and severely impair the integrity and effectiveness of the federal government, with grave consequences.

Report: Obama Doubts Kamala Harris Can  Beat Trump 

(RepublicanReport.org) – President Joe Biden recently announced his decision to step out of the race for re-election and swiftly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to run in his stead. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the VP will likely be the nominee in a few weeks and has already started campaigning as such. However, one person close to Biden is rumored to have doubts about her success.

An unnamed source allegedly close to the Biden family said former President Barack Obama doesn’t think Harris can win in November. The person said Obama said the VP was “incompetent” and “cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her.” Indeed, the former two-time president has not officially endorsed Harris for the nomination, as have other high-ranking members of the Democratic Party. However, a recent exclusive by NBC News noted that Obama plans to do so soon.

Still, behind the scenes, the anonymous source stating that the former US leader does not support Harris for the nomination said Obama is aware that the VP “can’t debate” but will have to do so soon. The person said she will have to “answer real questions” and will “say something really stupid.”

After Biden announced he was dropping out of the race, rumors swirled that Obama played a key role in that decision. The former US leader released a statement shortly afterward, relaying his affection for Biden and the job he’s done in public service, calling Biden’s choice a “testament to [his] love of country.” While Obama indicated he trusted Democratic leaders to “create a process” for a new presidential nominee, he didn’t mention Harris’ name at all.

A source reportedly told the New York Post that Obama was “shocked” when the president endorsed Harris for the nomination and was reportedly so “furious” that he refused to endorse her. Another anonymous source said they weren’t surprised by Obama’s allegedly feelings about the change, stating the former president can’t see “politics beyond his singular, immediate interests.”

Preface – I am not claiming to be a Subject Matter Expert or US Secret Service level of a Protective Services Detail (PSD) god.  This is my reflection on the recent incident based on my related experiences in PSD operations. 

My Related Experience:

In 1997/98, I was a US Army Military Police Team Leader as part of a PSD squad in Bosnia. We were responsible for protecting the Provost Marshal of Multi-National Division, North, which was part of the NATO Stabilization Force (SFOR). During that time, we participated in numerous missions in hostile territory, protecting the PM, his strap-hangers, the people he visited, and others, among other ad hoc missions. This included a Presidential visit by then-POTUS Clinton and Senator Bob Dole.

In 2003 (Iraq), I participated in the protection of several principals as an ad hoc duty, including Paul Bremer – in a counter-sniper capacity.

In 2007 (Iraq), I led a team that provided protection of Governor Jeb Bush, when he visited the Theater Interment Facility at Abu Ghraib, and acted as close protection during his visit.

In 2008 (Iraq), I was the First Sergeant of a dedicated PSD unit responsible for the protection and safety of the General Staff of the Multinational Security Transition Command – Iraq (MNSTC-I), and as such planned, facilitated, led, and participated in numerous missions in hostile territory to protect 18 General Officers and SES types as well as their Sergeants Major, strap-hangers, the people they visited, and others, among other ad hoc missions. This included the protection of Congressional Delegations, Executive Branch missions, Heads of State/Ministers of State (Kurdistan & The Netherlands), and General Petraeus.  During some of these missions, I was the SNCO, enabling the Commander’s intent, and in some, I also actively participated in close protection, over watch, or in a counter sniper role.

A prominent Russian propagandist has become the latest pro-Putin figurehead to express a desire for Alaska to be under Russian control again, raising fears that the country could make a land grab for the US state. 

Presenter of Russia-1 program 60 Minutes and Putin mouthpiece Olga Skabeyeva referred to the US state as "our Alaska" during a broadcast over the weekend.

Fellow presenter and propagandist Adalbi Shkhagoshev commented on a recent Russian and Chinese joint patrol within 200 miles of the Alaskan coast, prompting the response from Skabeyeva.

Russian and Chinese bombers operated together over the north Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea last week, marking the first time the two countries had been intercepted while operating together.

Shkhagoshev, also a deputy of Russia's Parliament, the State Duma, said, "Our aircraft approached the borders of Alaska" before Skabeyeva interjected, calling it "our Alaska."

She added: "Right now the head of the Pentagon is hiccupping nervously somewhere. You said 'our Alaska,' and he just said that if Russian and Chinese planes penetrate the territory that the U.S. considers its own, the U.S. is ready to enter the war."

Skabeyeva is not the only propagandist who believes Alaska belongs to Russia and will one day be under its control again. This is a commonly held belief among pro-Putin TV personalities.

Some have even suggested that Russia should strike or seize the US state, part of a NATO member, during the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The US State Department was forced to issue a response in January to a Russian decree that gave Putin more control over his country's "property."

The decree directed and funded the administration and foreign ministry in "searching for real estate in the Russian Federation, the former Russian Empire, the former USSR," referring to the "proper registration of rights...and legal protection of this property."

The State Department was quick to shut down any notion of Alaska being recaptured by Russia. The state was sold to the US by RussiA in 1867 via the Alaska Treaty.

State Department principal deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said: "I speak for all of us in the US government to say that, certainly, he is not getting it back."

The Democrat would-be President is of Indian and Afro-Jamaican descent with her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan, born in Madras, now Chennai, while her father, Donald Harris, is from Jamaica.

The Vice-President's father, a Stanford University academic who is 85, was born in Brown's Town on the Caribbean island – named after Hamilton Brown, who is believed to be Kamala's slave-owning great-great-great-great grandfather.

In an article published by the Jamaica Globe in 2019, Kamala's father Professor Harris wrote: 'My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown) descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown's Town, a town in Jamaica.'

Northern Irish historian Stephen McCracken said today that Brown was a 'notorious' slaver and 'not nice fellow' who was born in Antrim but later settled in Jamaica.

'I actually thought this was going to be a nice story, like (former US presidents) McKinley, Nixon, Jackson, Roosevelt, all of whom have links to Antrim, but it wasn’t', he said.

The fundamental dividing line in American society today is power — between those who have it and those who do not. Between those who control the financial system, justice system and information system and those who are at their mercy. Between those who can lie to us for four years and tell us Biden is mentally sound and then, within a week, declare him unfit, defenestrate him, nullify the primary, and coronate a new nominee and proclaim it all as democracy and those who can be censored and blacklisted merely for questioning power.

Between those who can author an invasion and beat back all attempts to stop illegal alien voting and those who can face arrest for even raising questions about the security of our elections.

Between those who can decide which crime story is international news and which murdered American’s name will never be heard.

Between those who can spend a large fortune on wars overseas and those who cannot even afford to pay for rent or groceries.

Between those who can offshore their factories and grow their wealth and those who are left jobless and penniless.

The security, financial and political state is not fundamentally ideological. Its objective, down through time, remains the preservation of its own power. But these interests must form political alliances. And, in America, permanent power has aligned itself, conjoined itself, in a complete symbiosis with progressive ideology and the Democrat Party.

Why? Because first, both are united in their desire for top-down control over our lives, especially by the appointed and unelected. And second, because the Democrat Party is willing to accept the terms of the grand bargain: to do exactly as they are told.

With the nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris, the American Left will openly and inarguably be at the controls. Then candidate Barack Obama pretended on 2008 to be a centrist, but he governed from the left and shifted the entire party to the left. President Biden’s disastrous term cemented the left and its ideology into the driver’s seat of the Democrats. What Kamala Harris says over the next three months as she rhetorically tries to tack to the middle does not much matter. She and her party are from and for the American Left’s vision for the United States.

We have rarely seen that agenda on full display. It’s been 40 years in fact since the mask was last off the Democrats in a presidential election. It was a different set of radicals atop the party then. The justices purport to believe in textualism, an approach to the law that says that when interpreting a statute, a judge should first defer to the plain language as written by Congress. But the mental gymnastics employed by the Court to reach the result in Fischer highlight how this Court often only pretends to deploy textualism in pursuit of its preferred outcome.

The statute at issue in Fischer, 18 U.S.C. 1512(c), reads:

Whoever corruptly —

(1) alters, destroys, mutilates, or conceals a record, document, or other object, or attempts to do so, with the intent to impair the object’s integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding; or

(2) otherwise obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so,

shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

This language is very clear. Subsection 1 prohibits obstructing a proceeding by tampering with physical evidence, and Subsection 2 is a catchall that prohibits “otherwise” obstructing a proceeding through means not encompassed by Subsection 1. The words or and otherwise signify alternative ways to violate the law.

The Supreme Court held Friday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) interpreted an obstruction statute too broadly when using it to charge hundreds of defendants for their behavior in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The court sided 6-3 in Fischer v. United States with a defendant who challenged the statute, Section 1512(c)(2), which holds up to 20 years in prison for anyone who “obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding.”

“To prove a violation of Section 1512(c)(2), the Government must establish that the defendant impaired the availability or integrity for use in an official proceeding of records, documents, objects, or as we earlier explained, other things used in the proceeding, or attempted to do so,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority ruling. “The judgment of the D. C. Circuit is therefore vacated, and the case is remanded for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.”

Of the 1,424 defendants charged following Jan. 6, over 350 were charged with “corruptly obstructing, influencing, or impeding an official proceeding,” according to May numbers from the DOJ. Multiple defendants charged under the statute were granted early release in light of the justice’s decision to hear the case.

Joseph Fischer, who was charged under Section 1512(c)(2), argued the DOJ’s use of the statute to prosecute Jan. 6 defendants for obstructing Congress’ certification of the 2020 election was an “unprecedented expansion.”

According to this article the United States followed by China and Japan  lead the World in public debt.  The U.S. is $35 Trillion, followed by China at $15 Trillion and Japan at $10 Trillion.  I assume all that data is converted to U.S. Dollars to be comparable.  Friends that is a total of $50 Trillion with the U.S. share being 34% of the World total public debt in 2023!  There are no plans to pay any of it off!  

 

Yet the United States has pledged up to $21 Billion to the International Monetary Fund to help--get this now--relieve global debt!  

 

To do that will not the United States have borrow another $21 Billion on top of the $35 Trillion we already owe????  Who is minding this Bailey Brothers Building and Loan?  Janet Yellen?  Antony Winken Blinken?  Please do not say Kamala Harris!  I am certain Biden is not, he and Jill are trying to find the outhouse on Omaha Beach!
