"The force of the electricity shot through her body, lifted her, and threw her against a wall. After the officers had stunned (the girl) into high voltage submission, they pulled the fish-hook like Taser darts from her chest, gave her emergency medical attention, bandaged the holes left by the razor-sharp hooks, and called the ambulance."
The reason the police were at the home was to keep the girl from hurting herself; the babysitter had called them because the child had a knife in her hand. All parties agree on this point -- the girl's mother, Dawn Stenstrom, as well as the defendants: the city of Pierre, South Dakota, its former police chief, Robert Grandpre, and the four officers at the scene on Oct. 4, 2013.
But their opinions about the responding officers' actions diverge from there.

Willingboro drops JFK, renames building after Obama

     WILLINGBORO – John F. Kennedy's name is coming off a town-owned building in New Jersey, and President Barack Obama's name is going on it.

Willingboro's township council approved the resolution on Tuesday.
The building opened as a high school in 1966 and was named for the assassinated 35th president. It's now owned by township, used as a recreation center and undergoing renovations.
Councilman Chris Walker tells the Burlington County Times the change isn't meant as a slight against Kennedy. Walker thinks it's an opportune time to honor the 44th president. He notes the building is on John F. Kennedy Way.
One resident, Jacqueline Mack, says people who live in the town should have a say.
Willingboro is a largely Democratic town that strongly supported Obama in the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Dr. Ben Pitcher, a senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Westminster, says that a local British radio show on gardening is racist. Apparently, discussions on soil purity and non-native species promote “nationalist and fascist beliefs.” I guess I never realized how terribly insensitive horticulture can be.

This kid was suspended because he brought a toy Nerf gun to school. Thank god… Just imagine the carnage he could have done with a dozen foam darts. We should probably look at registration requirements and dart-capacity limits on these toys as well.

New Study Says Whites Are Racist Because They View Black Criminals As Criminals

The left side of the Internet exploded today with what they claim is definitive proof that white people are racists. Just look at the headlines:

The Huffington Post was in on it too, but they were too lazy to write their own article and just linked to the Slate one.
So just what exactly is this proof that has the liberals so convinced of white racism? Well, a new study from Stanford University called Racial Disparities in Incarceration Increase Acceptance of Punitive Policies which alleges that white people inherently view blacks as criminals.
The methodology used to draw this conclusion is a bit confusing, but from what I could gather, researchers showed a bunch of white people mugs shots of criminals; some white some black. One group of white people was shown more black mug shots than the other. The group of white people that saw more black mug shots were more likely to support stiffer punishment for criminals than the ones that saw less black mug shots.
Do you get it? They are saying that when shown pictures of black mug shots, white people’s racism kicks in and makes them think all blacks are criminals and thus makes them want more law and order.

The actual conclusion of the study:

We found that exposing people to extreme racial disparities in the prison population heightened their fear of crime and increased acceptance of the very policies that
lead to those disparities. Thus, institutionalized disparities can be self-perpetuating.

Renisha McBride's Killer Found Guilty of Murder

        The Detroit man charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and weapons felony firearm for killing a 19-year-old woman on his porch was found guilty on all counts Thursday.        

Theodore Wafer, 55, shot Renisha McBride on Nov. 2 when she knocked on his doors after a car crash, where it was determined that she had been drinking.

McBride's mother, Monica McBride, shook back and forth after the verdict was read, while some of her other family members wept. "She was a beautiful young lady. She had things going for her," McBride's father, Walter Simmons, said. The prosecutors “had the facts, they had the evidence, they did their job, and they did it well. And we appreciate it."

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated for less than ten hours over two days after closing arguments were heard Wednesday. The prosecution argued that Wafer fired his shotgun because he was angry and looking for a confrontation. The defense contended that the homeowner feared for his life when he heard pounding on his doors in the middle of the night. McBride's family has maintained that the teen was looking for help after the crash. "It was senseless, all he had to do was call 911," Monica McBride said Thursday.

The trial drew comparisons to the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case because Wafer is white and McBride was black, but the subject of race was rarely broached in the courtroom. Wafer's defense lawyer said Wednesday that her client was far from a racist and that he didn't know the race of the person he shot. When asked whether he thought race played a part, Simmons said, "I'm not going to say that. That could have been anybody's kid.”

Wafer will be sentenced Aug. 25. He faces life in prison with the possibility of parole.        

Video Appears to Show Bear Walking on Hind Legs in NJ

People in one New Jersey town were surprised when they saw a black bear taking a stroll down the street on its hind legs earlier this week.

    A resident in Jefferson Township posted a video to YouTube showing the bear lumbering upright to the end of a cul-de-sac, peering inside a trash can and then venturing off into the woods.

   "It probably is a black bear," said Larry Ragonese, press director for New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. He said there's no way to fully authenticate the video.

Ragonese said bears can walk on two legs, although they usually don't for extended periods. 

    A biologist who examined the video said the bear could have damaged a front paw, requiring it to walk on two legs, Ragonese said.

Neighbors left comments on the video saying that they too had seen the bear pull the stunt recently.

Mexican Government Complains About Texas National Guard… Rick Perry Ignores Them  August 7, 2014   Texas Gov. Rick Perry decided that President Obama’s inaction regarding the border crisis, which in reality is a strategy being employed to pass amnesty, was no longer acceptable, so he decided to do something about it.Perry announced that he would be deploying 1,000 members of the National Guard to the border to help provide additional security and prevent more illegals from crossing over into the United States.Many in Congress and in state governments across the country have been calling for President Obama to take such steps, but still he refuses to budge.

Deportation Hearings For Illegal Alien Children And Surprise! Nobody Shows Up     By Robert Gehl  August 5, 2014

    When those tens of thousands of unaccompanied alien children streamed across the border, the ones we could intercept were given a sheet of paper telling them when and where to appear in immigration court and sent on their way.    They were supposed to show up to “deportation proceedings,” even though everybody knew it was a joke: Nobody – once they got here – was going to voluntarily show up to a deportation hearing.And so it’s true. Many of these proceedings are scheduled now and if what happened in one Los Angeles courtroom recently is any indication, nobody will show up.     At an immigration court, Judge Ashley Tabaddor had a caseload of nearly 40 illegal immigrant minors and not a single one showed up. The judge didn’t want to deport them in absentia, so she ordered a change of venue to wherever the children went.     As a response to the large number of change-of-venue orders, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency implemented a new process in June whereby officials wait to file cases on unaccompanied alien children and send all unaccompanied-juvenile case files to a central location, according to an ICE spokesperson.     It’s time to stop the joke and tell the truth: Congress doesn’t know or care what to do with our border crisis. So who does?

 Old Crocodile Attacks Shark in Australian River, Wins

    A shark and an elderly crocodile went head-to-head on an Australian river as a boatload of tourists watched in amazement. Passengers on a crocodile-spotting tour in the Northern Territory got more than they bargained for Tuesday when they spotted the reptile clasping its jaws around a bull shark. "I supposed you're a bit awe-struck really," Andrew Paice, an avid photographer, told NBC News.        The incident occurred during a ride along the Adelaide River near the Kakadu National Park. The group had been watching crocodiles jump for a piece of buffalo meat on a stick. A reptile nicknamed "Brutus" was the most impressive. He is estimated to be 80-years-old and 18 feet long. As the boat returned to the jetty, he was spotted clasping the shark.        

      As the reptile dragged his prey back into the water the shark thrashed, but could not escape. Paice has taken 6,500 photos in the first four months of trip around Australia with his partner and daughter. But this is his favorite. "It’s going to be a bit hard to top this one," he said.

I was waiting in line for my train to New York at Washington, DC's Union Station. While enjoying my usual hobby of people watching and glancing at my phone, for once I decided to be an alert traveler and watch the safety videos that were playing on the screens propped on the station walls.

Leftist lawmakers are going after Republican Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks for suggesting that the Democrats are “waging a war on whites.”
On Sunday, National Journal columnist Ron Fournier appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace to claim that “the fastest growing voting bloc in this country thinks the Republican Party hates them. This party, your party, cannot be the party of the future beyond November if you’re seen as the party of white people.”
Appearing on Laura Ingraham’s radio show, Brooks shot back, “This is part of the war on whites that’s being launched by the Democratic Party. And the way they’re launching this war is by claiming that whites hate everybody else. It’s part of the strategy that Barack Obama implemented in 2008 and continued in 2012, where he divides us all on race, on sex, greed, envy, class warfare, all those kinds of things. Well, that’s not true.”
