Ukraine officials have informed the House Democrats that they will not participate or give testimony in the Trump impeachment inquiry.

According to The Hill:

Ukrainian officials will not testify in the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump, the nation’s foreign minister said Tuesday.

“We don’t have anything to do with this at all,” Vadym Prystaiko told reporters, according to Reuters. “We won’t go there, we won’t comment.”

Prystaiko also said the relationship between Kiev and Washington has not changed since the start of the impeachment probe, according to Reuters.

A call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is at the center of the inquiry.

The Democrats will likely use this as an opportunity to attack President Trump for a foreign country’s cooperation with Trump.

40 conservative groups sign ethics complaint against Pelosi John Bowden "The Hill"

A coalition of conservative groups have filed an ethics complaint against Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), arguing among other charges that she has usurped authority from the executive branch by "weaponiz[ing]" the impeachment process.

In a complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics, 40 conservative groups led by Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots Action wrote to board chairman David Skaggs arguing that a vote scheduled for this week on the House's impeachment inquiry was "insufficient" to dispel notions of partisanship from the process, which they argued had been undertaken unilaterally by the Speaker.

"Speaker Pelosi's latest impeachment gambit - at last, a vote of the full House! -- is merely a continuation of her ongoing roughshod-running," said Martin.

"The genie cannot be put back in the bottle. All that 'evidence' that has been gathered before the casting of a single vote is tainted by the corrupt, secret process in which it was gathered. It is poisoned, and must be discarded for the sake of fairness," Martin added.

Pelosi's office did not immediately return a request for comment.

Allies of President Trump have argued that the impeachment process is being conducted in an insufficiently bipartisan manner as Democrats have brought in a steady stream of witnesses to argue that quid pro quo existed between Trump and Ukraine's president over U.S. military aide and plans for Ukraine's government to launch investigations into former Vice President Joe Biden (D) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Trump Calls out Chicago Leadership Amid Increasing Violence  October 29, 2019

President Trump called out Chicago’s police chief and leadership while speaking at an event there on Monday over the increasing violence in the city.

According to The Hill:

President Trump on Monday used his first trip to Chicago as president to tear into the city and its leadership, comparing its violence to Afghanistan and blasting officials as inept and disloyal to the U.S.

The president addressed the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, where he criticized the city’s crime rate and its policies protecting undocumented immigrants. He wasted little time blaming those issues on the city’s superintendent of police, Eddie Johnson, who boycotted the event.

“Here’s a man that could not bother to show up for a meeting of police chiefs … in his hometown and with the president of the United States. And you know why? It’s because he’s not doing his job,” Trump told the gathering of law enforcement officials.

Trump also hit Chicago over its “sanctuary city” policies, accusing Johnson of harboring undocumented immigrants at the expense of the safety of U.S. citizens and betraying his oath of duty.

The Chicago police chief did not attend the conference due to Trump’s values not aligning with his or the city’s.

There is no way to spin this as anything but a Democratic attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election with an even shoddier cause that Russian collusion, which turned out to be a myth.

Maybe deep down House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted this, but she also knew the political ramifications. It would be an earthquake and one in which Democrats could have reaped total destruction. It would galvanize the Trump base and give the president all the ammunition he needed to rip apart the Democratic Party for what is arguably one of the most explicitly partisan witch hunts in recent memory. The impeachment proceedings of President Trump are not yet official, but as Cortney wrote yesterday, a Thursday vote is going to be held. 

Former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer was on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier where he suggested that Pelosi is doing a retroactive makeup with this vote. Why? Well, the optics can’t be polished, especially on something as serious as impeachment (via RCP):

Democrats have just met their deadline to provide the text of their impeachment resolution against President Trump. It outlines the new authorities Democrats will have during the impeachment inquiry. For instance, it will grant House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff the power to call public hearings.

As Politico's Andrew Desiderio put it, this will put Schiff "in the driver's seat."

Nancy Pelosi is drunk again, but this time she can’t simply go home. First, she caused such a disturbance on a commercial flight from Denver to Southern California that the pilots had to divert and land in Iowa. Then, she managed to get herself lost.

Secret Service was completely flummoxed. The Speaker of the House had just…vanished…at 30K feet. As soon as the plane landed, the area was locked down so the plane could be searched, leaving more than 200 people sitting on a hot runway in Dubuque. After about an hour, Pelosi was found below deck in the luggage compartment, asleep with somebody’s golden retriever.

Supervisory Special Agent in Charge of Agents, Art Tubolls, tells the story as it happened:

“First, I followed a trail of spilled vodka and jelly beans to the staff elevator. I took it down to the galley level, where I found that someone had raided the fridge and sucked all the nitrous from the whipped cream cans.

From there I proceeded into the pressurized luggage compartment, where sensitive and live cargo are shipped, and that’s where I found her. At first I thought…awww…that’s cute. Then I realized the dog wasn’t licking her, it was eating the vomited french fries she grabbed at the Airport Carl’s Jr. in Denver.

She was toast. I secured our HVT and we left the premises. Until she wakes up and confirms nobody drugged her and dragged her down there, those folks will have to sit tight.”

The agents have been nice to the passengers, offering them walks outside and as much to eat and drink as they like, but they still have to endure a late arrival, missed work or time with family, and a whole lot of unnecessary hassle because of Nancy Pelosi’s drinking. It’s about time someone did something.

Democrats Provide Access to Ukraine Gate Whistleblower

On Thursday morning, after a series of contentious interactions with their Republican counterparts, Democratic congressional leaders provided access to the “whistleblower” who is at the heart of the Trump impeachment inquiry.

“This is all about transparency and providing our Republican counterparts with access to the ‘whistleblower,” noted Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

“After discussing the matter at length with my fellow democratic representatives, we felt this forum would provide the best opportunity for the American people to hear directly from the ‘whistleblower’ as to the ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ of President Trump,” continued Pelosi.

After several tense moments, the long-unidentified whistleblower took the podium accompanied by House Intelligence Chair, Representative Adam Schiff as the crowd “hung” on to his words.

“Hiya, hiya, boys and girls,” began the whistleblower as he described his “insider knowledge” of the alleged quid pro quo scheme involving President Trump and Ukrainian officials.

“My name is ‘Mr. Schiffie’ and I’m here to tell you all that Orangeman did some ‘bad things,” continued Mr. Schiffie.

At three feet, six inches tall, it was noted that ‘Mr. Schiffie” wore identical clothing to that worn by Representative Schiff, but on a much smaller scale.

In order for the attendees to view Mr. Schiffie properly, Representative Schiff held Mr. Schiffie aloft throughout the proceedings and even put his right hand in the back of Mr. Schiffie’s shirt to provide additional support and guidance as Mr. Schiffie carefully detailed each of Trump’s transgressions.

“President Trump is a bad man and he needs to be impeached…a lot,” finished Mr. Schiffie to thunderous applause of the Democratic attendees.

Given the opportunity to cross examine Mr. Schiffie, Representative Jim Jordan, the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, asked Mr. Schiffie if there had been any contact with Representative Schiff’s office prior to filing the whistleblower complaint.

After waiting several moments for Representative Schiff to finish drinking a glass of water, Mr. Schiffie replied, “no, no, no, boys and girls.”

“That would be bad, so we didn’t have any contact whatsoever,” finished Mr. Schiffie as Representative Schiff’s lips barely quivered.

“Well, that’s all I needed to hear,” finished Speaker Pelosi as she prepared for a house vote on proceeding with the impeachment.

At the end of the forum, as Representative Schiff carefully folded Mr. Schiffie back into a storage trunk, it was noted that Mr. Schiffie would again be available for the
impeachment trial as well as be made available upon request for children’s birthday parties, bar mitzvahs and any holiday events.

On the Tuesday edition of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Carlson was discussing whether any more candidates would be entering the 2020 Democrat race -- something, he said, that Democrat insiders were hoping for.

To Carlson, Hillary's activities of late indicated to him that she was definitely considering a re-entry into politics. Given that she's self-evidently not going to be running for senator or anything like that, we can be pretty certain where her attention would be.

Carlson made the remarks during a segment with Democrat strategist Robert Patillo, who thought that the party was looking for someone who wasn't yet in the race.

"What we have seen is the Democratic Party has been looking for that standard-bearer," Patillo said.
