White finally addresses ransom money for Iran. 

The United States does not negotiate with terrorists or pay ransom for hostages—at least that used to be the policy of American presidents. During a recent press conference, the Obama administration tried to split hairs over the supposed difference in giving in to ransom demands and simply offering money as “leverage.”

 

“It’s foolish to think that we paid ransom to Iran,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said to a journalist who challenged the Obama administration’s definition of the word “leverage.”
 

During the exchange with the reporter, Earnest succeeded in throwing the State Department under the bus.
