Kevin Hodge, with his identical twin, Keith, is famously known for their comedic commentary as the Hodgetwins— the duo posted a reaction video towards the black anthem initiative of the NFL with humor and common sense. Ever since, the NFL decided to appointed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” as the black national anthem before the Star-Spangled Banner at Week 1 games.
“A black national anthem, I don’t even think they have a black national anthem in Africa.
When you have to come up with a Black National Anthem, it makes you think that there’s a White National Anthem, a Latino National Anthem, and a Native National Anthem,” according to the Hodge Twins.
The Star-Spangled Banner was meant to unify people, not divide the country with multiple national anthems; this alternative only creates more division within America. The Black National Anthem already sounds divisive as it is, and if the NFL genuinely considers this as a good idea to play the Black National Anthem before the National Anthem, is the Black National Anthem only implemented for a week? Why not do it for the WHOLE season, if they REALLY care?

One most unnoticed growing facts about the appointed Black National Anthem is that it was intended to revere Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. A white person— a republican President who helped free the slaves. The song was originally a Christian song, and appointing it as “The Black National Anthem” is a massive disservice to the song.
“I’m all about unifying, if y’all,” “America is supposed to be a unifying thing.” according to one of the Hodge Twin’s contrary opinions towards The Black National Anthem.
If every minority decided to resist the system and further hinder our society, then we might even need to come up with “The Native American National Anthem, now you gotta come up with the Asian American Anthem— don’t forget the gays. You gotta get one for the— Uhm, transgender community, you gotta cover for the bisexual community. It’s divisive.” The Hodge Twin’s humorous reaction towards the Black National Anthem.
Which honestly, takes a lot of common sense to come up with— that the left majority is clearing lacking.
“You should have one song that’s unifying the Star-Spangled Banner, the National Anthem. It stands for all of us! Did y’all know that?” the Hodge Twins concluded.
