Tara Reade, the former Senate staffer who came forward last year to claim that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her when she was working for him back in 1993, is firing back at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her tweet in which she claimed that she “stands with survivors” of sexual assault.
Pelosi Marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month
It all started on Monday, when Pelosi took to Twitter to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which ends later this week on the last day of April.
“As we close out Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we recommit to combating sexual violence & demanding accountability,” the Speaker wrote. “Congress stands with survivors and will honor their strength by working to advance a future that is free from violence & assault for all.”
Reade Fires Back
Reade fired back hours later by calling out Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for the lack of support they gave her when she came forward with her claims against Biden.
“Do you really @SpeakerPelosi stand with survivors?” Reade asked. “I was a former Senate Aide that was sexual assaulted by a member of the Senate who is now POTUS. I was silenced and denied justice by you and the Congress. You Madam Speaker did not stand with me. You are complicit with rape.”
Reade Sounds Off On Biden
Back in January, Reade opened up to Fox News about how hard it was to watch Biden be inaugurated, and to attack the Democratic Party for the way she was treated.
She said that watching Biden be inaugurated was “exceptionally hard on many levels, because the media, certain media outlets made it so clear that I was to be smeared, ignored, and erased. And they were pretty successful in doing so.”
“To watch this powerful man who I’ve worked for, who I had admired when I first worked for him and then later became horrified of what he did, to watch him ascend to the most powerful job in the world,” Reade continued. “I can’t really describe the feeling except I keep wanting to wake up from a nightmare.”

Reade Says Democrats Are ‘Complicit With Sexual Misconduct’
“The Democratic Party continues to be complicit with sexual misconduct. It will only shine a light on it when it’s a Republican or someone else,” she added.
“And until sexual misconduct is seen as non-partisan, institutionalized rape culture will stay in place and powerful men will continue to be able to get away with crimes,” Reade concluded. “And not only get away with it but be rewarded with more power.”
