Can someone with a criminal record become president of the United States?

Nothing in the Constitution prevents it and it would be unconstitutional for states to prohibit a convicted criminal from running for President. It is a matter for voters to decide. M*** P****t J.D. in Constitutional Law & Civil RightsUniversity of San Diego School of Law (Graduated 1986)

OPINION

REMEMBER, THIS IS ADAM SCHITTS 3rd or 4th ATTEMPT TO GET TRUMP. IT'S LIKE IT'S HIS ONLY GOAL IN LIFE IS TO BRING TRUMP DOWN BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE, NO MATTER HOW MANY LIVES ARE DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS.

WHY DON'T THEY JUST ASK SOMEONE ELSE ABOUT WHAT BANNON DID OR DIDN'T DO. SO FAR THEY'VE HAD NO PROBLEM ACCEPTING TESTIMONY FROM 2nd, 3rd OR EVEN 4th HAND "WITNESSES" AND WHAT COULDN'T BE TESTIFIED TO, THEY MAKE IT UP. THIS KKKANGAROO KKKOURT HAS ME STYMIED, WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO PROVE THAT TRUMP DID? ...i HAVE YET TO HEAR TRUMP SAY "GO BREAK INTO THE CAPITOL"

AND WHEN ALL IS DONE, WHAT IF THE PEOPLE STILL WANT TRUMP AS THEIR PRESIDENT? IT DOESN'T SAY ANYWHERE THAT HE CAN'T BE ELECTED ANYHOW?

MSNBC's take

He's going down: Bannon's 'Tough guy' talk melts down as DOJ vet predicts conviction  MSNBC CopiedToday

Steve Bannon’s trial begins for criminal contempt of Congress. Day one consisted of the selection of jurors, and Bannon himself spoke after, saying in part that it would have been “more productive if we’d been on Capitol Hill addressing the nation,” and saying that the Jan. 6 committee “has been nothing but a show trial.” Former Federal prosecutor John Flannery joins Ari Melber on what to expect in this trial, saying “[Bannon’s] at risk to be the first of the inner circle to go down,” and he expects the jury to pierce “that veil of these powerful, omnipotent people who thought they could do anything in their arrogance. His defenses aren’t going to hold up.”   July 18, 2022
