'Tear apart' DOJ and FBI: Devin Nunes implores Republicans to act on John Durham bombshell
Daniel Chaitin - Yesterday

Republicans in Congress need to "tear apart" the Justice Department, a former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee declared in reaction to explosive new claims by special counsel John Durham.

'Tear apart' DOJ and FBI: Devin Nunes implores Republicans to act on John Durham bombshell

© Provided by Washington Examine Devin Nunes, who is now CEO of former President Donald Trump's media venture, Trump Media and Technology Group, made the statement Thursday when reacting to the prosecutor's claim in court that the alleged source for disgraced former British spy Christopher Steele's infamous anti-Trump dossier was a paid confidential human source for the FBI.

"I'll tell you: Now more than ever, if the Republicans get control of Congress, this is going to be a monumental task that they have — to tear apart the Department of Justice and the FBI," Nunes said during an interview on Real America's Voice.

The alleged source is Igor Danchenko, a U.S.-based Russian lawyer who is charged with five counts of making false statements tied to what he told the bureau about the dossier. Danchenko has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his trial begins in the coming weeks. In filings, Durham has also alleged the FBI botched a counterintelligence investigation into Danchenko that stretched from 2009 to 2011.

Nunes said the "key component" from what Durham has said is how the special counsel has presented what he believes is "the strongest evidence that we've seen that they obstructed — the FBI, DOJ, et al. obstructed Congress's investigation back in 2017."

"If you recall, they were coming after me, saying that people were going to die if important assets — Putin assets were going to die. It was all nonsense," Nunes said. "The dude was, like, a few blocks from here working at Brookings at one point as a Democratic operative. I mean, nobody — nobody — cared. This is the best evidence that I have seen that these guys were conspiring to do this."

Nunes, who as a congressman was a lead investigator of what has become known as the Russiagate controversy, argued there is a group of high-level officials dating back to the Obama administration who are out to get Trump.

This "crew," Nunes said, has been involved in several high-profile cases — including special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, the Jan. 6 investigation, and the Mar-a-Lago raid — and has been "very clever to use the Department of Justice, specifically the National Security Division of the Department of Justice, to then hide under what's called 'counterintelligence investigation' because it allows them to wall everyone off, and then they're using these
confidential human sources as a way to to keep that from Congress."

I have to think a lot of this is because McConnell doesn't care and as we've both noted, he's not interested in Conservatives as much as being content presiding over RINOs. What's your take, Pappy?

My thoughts ? McConnell has to go...I can only hope and pray that he is replaced...by almost ANYONE....Except a DEMORAT...!!

Yup. Thanks, I pretty much figured we were in agreement here. We need a Conservative as the leader/head of Republicans. Someone like Josh Hawley, Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz.

Enjoy your weekend & take care!
