The big spender is worried about spending ? ? ?

White House: Obama concerned about IRS spending

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama is concerned by excessive spending by the Internal Revenue Service and other agencies on conferences and travel.

White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obama has taken already taken action to reduce spending. He's pointing out that Obama installed new IRS leadership after the agency acknowledged it had unfairly targeted conservative groups.

An inspector general's report set to be released Tuesday is expected to say the IRS spent about $50 million to hold at least 220 conferences for employees between 2010 and 2012.

On Sunday, the Republican chairman of the House's Oversight committee, Rep. Darrell Issa, called Carney a "paid liar" over comments that referred to misconduct by IRS workers in Cincinnati. Carney says he's not interested in getting into a back-and-forth with Issa.
