Undocumented Immigrants Confront GOP Congressman [VIDEO]
Erika Andiola, a co-director of the DREAM Action Coalition, approached King at a fundraiser here and handed the congressman her DACA card for him to rip in half.
“I know you want to get rid of DACA, and I want to give you the opportunity,” Andiola told King in the exchange that has been posted on YouTube. “If you really want to get rid of it just rip mine.”
House Republicans voted last Friday to end DACA, which allows for descretion in deporting children who were brought into the country illegally. The bill will not get a vote in the Democratically-controlled Senate.
King refused to rip the card, telling the woman he is troubled she has “disrespect” for America’s laws.
"I don't want to build a country with people who have disrespect for the law," King said. "You just told me you are both here in violation of the law."
Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, a potential presidential candidate in 2016, was seated next to King and quickly left after the activists introduced themselves.
