ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - Police have arrested a registered sexual predator for allegedly violating his neighbor's dog. 52-year-old James Lee Lyons (pictured above) was picked up by St. Johns County Sheriff's deputies and charged with animal cruelty and sexual activity involving an animal after a neighbor complained that he sexually abused his dog.
According to the neighbor, he let two of his dogs out last Monday before a thunderstorm, but only one returned. Later in the day, the neighbor reportedly saw Lyons carrying his dog, and when approached, Lyons told him that he had found the dog in the shed. The neighbor suspected foul play because he had checked that same location earlier.
The neighbor says he noticed the dog acting withdrawn. And perhaps slightly more incriminating, he noticed injuries to the dog's rectum and vulva.Animal Control officials urged him to take the dog to the vet and Special Victim's detectives were called in to investigate.
Lyons, who doesn't look the least bit creepy in his mug shot, was previously arrested in 1998 on charges of attempted sexual battery on a child, and a sexual act with a child while in a familial role. After a plea deal, he was sentenced to 13 years. He was released about two years ago and forced to register as a sexual predator.
