Dating back to 1977 when the City of Buffalo, New York declared it national chicken wing day, the day has been an institution, or at least an excuse to consume as many wings as you want. Hooters restaurant is challenging America to eat 1 million wings today. They are keeping the tally on Facebook. If you are looking for inspiration to take on this massive feat, professional eater Joey Chestnut recently ate 179 wings in two minutes. So it can be done. Happy Wing Day, America. Eat up!
