THESE weddings were the pork of the town.
Two couples have celebrated their nuptials in suitably sizzling fashion at the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival in Iowa.
The annual festival, which includes lectures, eating contests and the crowning of a Bacon Queen, celebrates the versatility and salty goodness of bacon.
The 2014 event showcased a total of 72 bacon-themed dishes - and not one but two porcine-themed weddings, celebrated in crisp succession.
The Des Moines Register reported that the first couple, Tricia Snider and Tom Watson, vowed to love, honour and cherish each other "in good times and bacon".
Their cake was topped with rashers dressed up as a bride and groom, as well as crumbed bacon bits.
A second couple, Craig and April Rouch, held their bacon-themed wedding in a public area at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. April carried a bouquet of bacon rosettes.
Snider and Watson told the paper that they enjoy a good fry-up every weekend.
"She's second only to bacon," Watson said of Snider.
The 30 reception guests were treated to six pork loins, wrapped with a total of 2.7 kilograms of bacon.
The paper did not specify if the guests pigged out.
