Police Being ‘Armed for War’ as Returning Veterans Deemed ‘Homeland Threats’19 May, 2014 Police Being ‘Armed for War’ as Returning Veterans Deemed ‘Homeland Threats’

According to an Indiana Police Sergeant, one of the reasons the United States government is arming local police departments with military-grade technology and weapons is to deal with returning war veterans who “are now seen as a homegrown terror threat.” That’s right. The same veterans that are returning from fighting terrorists in the worst parts of the world, many from their fourth or even fifth tour of duty.
In an interview with a local Fox affiliate, Morgan County Police Sergeant Dan Downing said “when I first started we really didn’t have the violence that we see today. The weaponry is totally different now than it was in the beginning of my career, plus, you have a lot of people who are coming out of the military that have the ability and knowledge to build IEDs and to defeat law enforcement techniques.”
Downing says sometimes Morgan County residents see a Mine Resistant military vehicle patrolling their streets and approach in concern.Downing said “we were actually approached when we’d stop to get fuel by people wanting to know why we needed this…what were we going to use it for? ‘Are you coming to take our guns away?’ To come and take away their firearms…that absolutely is not the reason why we need this vehicle. We got this vehicle because of the need and because of increased violence we have been facing over the last few years.”
InfoWars.com notes that in 2009, a Department of Homeland Security document listed veterans returning from the war as “likely domestic terrorists.” The FBI has also deemed returning veterans “a major domestic terrorist threat.
