As jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq movement take control of two of the country’s largest cities and march toward Baghdad, new details have emerged on the atrocities happening on the ground as the group looks to take over the country and impose Sharia Law.
According to reports, militants have taken control of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest largest city. Reports say 30,000 Iraqi soldiers simply fled, leaving behind tanks and weapons, as just 800 fighters approached.
A day later, militants captured Tikrit, known for its massive oil deposits.
Now, the “army” is marching toward Baghdad, Iraq’s capital and largest city.
The Iraqi military has been able to stall their advances toward Samarra, a city just 68 miles north of Baghdad, for now.
Many western counties, including Britain, have already ruled out a military intervention after a decade-long affair in the country has clearly not changed much. The US has not officially ruled out military action but are not very interested in getting involved in another armed conflict in the country.

While some of the militants have been stalled, another group of insurgents has taken over Dhuluiyah, a town just 60 miles from Baghdad.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki blamed a “conspiracy” for the Mosul security failure and said “we are working to solve the situation.” “We are regrouping the armed forces that are in charge of clearing Ninevah from those terrorists.”
Meanwhile, the ISIS (also referred to as ISIL) has grown so extreme that even al-Qaeda has cut ties with them.
According to The Daily Mail, “within those areas it has conquered, it is imposing a vicious form of hardline Islamic sharia law, which has involved crucifixion of ‘spies,’ as well as beheadings and amputations.”
A Pentagon document revealed that the group has been “publicly executing entire families.”
