President-elect Donald Trump's vow to "drain the swamp" in Washington could and possibly should begin with the Agriculture Department. 








I get that it's in the industry's best interests to portray every farm as a small family-run affair and get all sentimental over farm subsidies that keep them in business when times are hard. But are these subsidies fair to us, the average American tax payer?
While we like to think that farm "subsidies" go to small family businesses, the facts differ and in many instances these payouts are just a huge transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich.
