The Goat Man Ches McCartney
YES.... the goat man....We had already moved from S.C. to Pennsylvania but we used to go back down to Honea Path S.C. every summer for a couple of weeks. What I remember was someone coming by and saying "the goat mans here" and we all jumped into cars and drove to the highway to see the "Goatman", and what a sight it was, a herd of goats, a wagon and I don't know how many people, would pull off the side of the road and camp there overnite, by morning they were gone. I never knew anything about him and only recently found out he was a self proclaimed preacher, but you can imagine what an impression he made on this (at the time) 10/12 year old naive little boy. A memory I'll never forget.....
