Pelosi’s January 6th Committee Looks Like An Embarrassing “Failure”
(RoyalPatriot.com )-The House Select Committee on Investigating the January 6th Attack on the Capitol has moved beyond its scope and is now investigating Trump’s final days in office.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., promised the hearings would “blow the roof off” the Capitol. Given how easily a group of idiots broke Capitol windows, I’d hate to find out the roof is just as vulnerable.
In an ironic twist, these claims of smoking guns seem to be the Democrats’ version of releasing “a kraken,” which a former Trump attorney promised but never delivered.
The primetime spectacular got decent ratings, and subsequent hearings contained fascinating political gossip- Trump allegedly made a bad joke about Mike Pence. Ivanka Trump didn’t buy Bill Barr’s claim that the election was stolen. Giuliani was drunk.
But the committee’s final report will likely not prove Trump collaborated with rioters to subvert democracy.
As far as a criminal referral is concerned, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said, “No, that’s not our job.” He said their mission is to examine the facts and circumstances surrounding January 6 and provide suggestions.
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said the committee hasn’t decided on a criminal referral.
A partisan congressional committee will likely recommend the case to the Justice Department. The Democrat base won’t accept less. This has always been Impeachment 3.0, a mechanism to stop Trump from running in 2024. And for most Democrats on the panel, this is merely an effort to tie Trump to the 2022 midterms, hoping to stoke fear and anger, which will somehow stem the tide of the coming red wave.
As bad as the Capitol attack was, it’s ludicrous to say we nearly lost our democracy. The U.S. is a constitutional republic with democratic traditions. This mob disrupted a peaceful power transfer, which is bad enough, but this group would never succeed in “taking over the hill.”
A genuine coup d’état involves institutional support to change the incumbent regime. Many goons were in DC because of Trump’s “will be wild” tweet. Trump’s words fueled the rioters, but institutional support is not the same.
If the committee has proof of rioter-Trump inner circle collaboration, primetime was the moment to expose it.
It didn’t happen.
We’re nearing put-up-or-shut-up time.
