Sarah Palin Responds To PETA Criticism: “Chill. At Least Trig Didn’t Eat The Dog”

Sarah Palin went after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Saturday, telling the group to “chill” after it described a photo she posted as inappropriate.
“Dear PETA,” the former vice presidential candidate wrote in a Facebook post, “Chill. At least Trig didn’t eat the dog.”
Palin sparked controversy from animal rights groups on New Year’s Day when she posted a photo of her youngest son, Trig, standing on the family’s black labrador retriever in order to reach over the counter.
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk described the photo in a statement to Politico as demonstrating “no apparent sympathy for the dog in the photo.”
“Then again, PETA, along with everyone else, is used to the hard-hearted, seeming obliviousness of this bizarrely callous woman,” Newkirk said.
Palin’s post seemed unfazed by Newkirk’s statement, and challenged her on a so-called double standard for not calling out Ellen Degeneres for a similar photo.
The former Alaska governor then pivoted to PETA’s relationship with the 44th president: “Did you go as crazy when your heroic Man-of-Your-Lifetime, Barack Obama, revealed he actually enjoyed eating dead dog meat?”
Palin then proceeded to assail PETA for their treatment of the Alaska fishing industry, the Iditarod dog sled race and the beef industry.
“Yeah, you’re real credible on this, PETA,” she wrote. “A shame, because I’ll bet we agree on what I hope is the true meaning of your mission — respecting God’s creation and critters.”

Except “respecting God’s creation and critters” is not really what PETA is about. If it were, they wouldn’t be killing the animals they are in fact killing.

Liberal writer begs you not to see "American Sniper" about "mass-murderer" Chris Kyle

He compared him to a notorious serial killer.

Writer Max Blumenthal, formerly of Media Matters for America and the Daily Beast, believes decorated Navy SEAL “American Sniper” Chris Kyle was a mass-murderer – no better than a convicted serial killer.

“I haven’t seen American Sniper, but correct me if I’m wrong: An occupier mows down faceless Iraqis but the real victim is his anguished soul,” Blumenthal wrote on Twitter, Christmas Day.

Blumenthal doubled-down the next day, comparing the deceased Kyle to John Lee Malvo who murdered 10 people in the Washington D.C. area in 2002.

Kyle’s friend and “American Sniper” co-author   Scott McEwen defended his fallen friend on Fox News.
“Chris Kyle was a defender of our troops […] and Chris was always and should be known as one who saved lives of the United States military and brought them back to this country, and to lose sight of that the way Blumenthal has done here is completely absurd,” McEwen said.
Fox News once again picked up on the story when Fox and Friends host Elizabeth Hasselback criticized Blumenthal on Tuesday morning.
Blumenthal shot back later on in the morning, alleging that Kyle could be a good recruiting tool for the Islamic State.

In his 2012 book, “American Sniper,” Kyle recounted what he tells people when they ask him how he could kill so many people.
“Another question people ask a lot: Did it bother you killing so many people in Iraq? I tell them, ‘No.’ And I mean it. The first time you shoot someone, you get a little nervous,”Kyle wrote.
“You think, can I really shoot this guy? Is it really okay? But after you kill your enemy, you see it’s okay. You say, Great. You do it again. And again. You do it so the enemy won’t kill you or your countrymen. You do it until there’s no one left for you to kill. That’s what war is.”

The Obama administration’s Justice Department funneled at least $1.5 million in grants to a New York legal-aid group featured in a new rap video that depicts two young black men aiming handguns at a white police officer.

Some may find the lyrics eerily similar to the social media postings of the man accused of shooting and killing two New York City police officers execution-style in Brooklyn on Saturday.
The video for  “Hands Up,” which also shows a white police officer gunning down a black motorist wearing a hoodie, contains lyrics suggesting revenge for much-publicized deaths of black men in confrontations with police.
Credited to rappers Uncle Murda and Maino, the video is subtitled “Eric Garner Tribute,” a reference to a black man who died while being pinned and restrained on a sidewalk by New York police officers.
The taxpayer money that went to the organization shown in the video, the Bronx Defenders, comes from a Justice Department program named for Edward Byrne, a New York Police Department officer who was shot dead at close range in 1988.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Some 87 percent of people who just signed up for Obamacare are getting financial assistance to lower their premiums, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
That is a jump from 80 percent during the last open enrollment period.

It was not all the officers, and it was not disrespect directed at Detective Ramos, but all the officers were painted by it. And it stole the valor, honor, and attention that rightfully belonged to the memory of Detective Rafael Ramos’s life and sacrifice. That was not the intent, I know, but it was the result," Bratton wrote in a memo obtained by ABC News.

"On Sunday, we will gather together again, with the rest of New York City and law enforcement officials nationwide, to mourn for Detective First Grade Wenjian Liu. We gather to support his parents, his widow, and everyone who is there to remember a life tragically cut short. The assassination of Detectives Liu and Ramos was an attack on us all. As a cop, one who lived and worked through the assassination threats of the 1970s, I understand that emotions are high. I issue no mandates, and I make no threats of discipline, but I remind you that when you don the uniform of this department, you are bound by the tradition, honor and decency that go with it." Bratton added.

The officers were killed on Dec. 20 as they sat in their patrol car on a Brooklyn street. The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, later killed himself after posting on social media that he wanted to kill cops.

Police unions have blamed Mayor Bill de Blasio for creating a anti-police climate for allowing people to freely protest the recent grand jury decisions in Ferguson and Staten Island, something the mayor’s office has vehemently denied.

Police from two states are working to piece together a series of crimes that included a house burned down, a stolen truck containing the bodies of an elderly couple, a shootout with police, and a car chase.

Police in West Virginia pulled over Eric Campbell, 21, on New Year's Day for driving a North Carolina truck that was registered as stolen.

His father, Edward Campbell, 54, was driving in a different vehicle and pulled over in front of the police when he saw his son being approached by the officers.

Edward "came back there to where [the highway patrol officers] were at, and when they asked him for identification, he pulled a pistol and started shooting," West Virginia's Lewisburg Police Chief Tim Stover told ABC News.    STORY

The incident played out Friday morning around 7:30 as a train passed Auburn Street near Basin Street in Allentown.

The woman, growing weary of standing around while the train passed, crawled underneath a tanker car [ as it was moving] in an attempt to get to the other side, said Allentown Police.

The NY Post reports:Chipotle Mexican Grill is apologizing to a crew of NYPD cops who were served up an anti-police insult in Brooklyn during a recent trip to the fast-food eatery.Nine of New York’s Finest walked into the Montague Street restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn around 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 16 and were greeted by a Chipotle employee who raised his hands up, a gesture that has become a symbol of anti-police sentiment across the country.The burrito shop is close to the 84th Precinct, where slain Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu worked before they were gunned down on Dec. 20.“We work very hard to ensure that every customer in our restaurants feels welcome and is treated with respect. Clearly, the actions of this crew member undermined that effort,” co-CEOs Steve Ells and Monty Moran said in a statement Monday.One of the cop’s former colleagues supposedly penned a letter suggesting that several employees made the “Hands up, Don’t Shoot,” gesture. Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered another blow to New York's Finest on Wednesday when he reappointed a Brooklyn judge who freed without bail two men who threatened cops just days after the Bed-Stuy double police assassination.

The stunning decision came even as one of the suspects — a gang member charged with posting police death threats online — skipped a court date and had a warrant out for his arrest, sources said.

 

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson had faced a midnight expiration of her term. She was appointed by then-Mayor Mike Bloomberg in January 2013.
Her one-year, interim reappointment by de Blasio outraged law enforcement officials a day after he met with the heads of five police unions to heal his fractured relationship with cops.
"The mayor's actions of reappointing this judge are completely hypocritical to his argument that he’s pro-police and counterproductive to what he claims to be an effort to open dialogue going forward,” said sergeants union chief Ed Mullins.
"He had the opportunity to demonstrate good will and support for the police, and he once again has demonstrated the opposite."
The head of the state ¬court officers union, Dennis Quirk, called de Blasio’s decision "a disgrace."

And the “donations” often seem a bit more like protection money.

Take, for instance, the case of General Motors. According to a GM employee, NAN had approached the automaker for contributions on numerous occasions starting in 2000.

In 2006, Sharpton threatened a boycott of GM over the closure of a dealership in Harlem that was African-American owned.

GM’s been giving to NAN for the last two years, during which time it’s been in the good graces of the Rev.

Sharpton was more explicit in a letter to American Honda.

“We support those that support us,” wrote Sharpton and the Rev. Horace Sheffield III in a letter to the corporation.

“We cannot be silent while African-Americans spend hard-earned dollars with a company that does not hire, promote or do business with us in a statistically significant manner.”

Nice car company you have there, Mr. Honda. It would be a shame if anything were to … happen to it.

American Honda met with Sharpton soon afterwards, and began sponsoring NAN events with “a modest sum” every year.

“I think this is quite clearly a shakedown operation,” Peter Flaherty, president of the National Legal and Policy Center, told The New York Post.

“He’s good at harassing people and making noise. CEOs give him his way because it is a lot easier than confronting him.”

Before Ferguson exploded in reaction to the August shooting of black teen Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson, the St. Louis police chief raised eyebrows when he called for the use of drones to monitor high-crime areas.
The proposal was a response to  what St. Louis police authorities called “subhuman, antisocial, urban terrorist” behavior by criminals.
St. Louis also is home of the notorious “Knockout Game,” a random but racially motivated assault that has claimed at least six lives.
St. Louis is 44 percent white and 49 percent black, but statistics shows a racial imbalance in crime. Based on the city’s official crime data for 2012 — the most recent year which data are available — 97.6 percent of those arrested for murder were black and 2.4 percent were white. More than 82 percent of those arrested for serious crimes like murder, aggravated assault and larceny were black, while just 17.5 percent arrested were white.

Black males in St. Louis were responsible for the vast majority (63.5 percent) of crimes committed. Other groups contribute significantly less to the serious crimes in St. Louis. White males made up 17 percent of arrests, black females were 14 percent of arrests and white females only 5.3 percent of arrests.
