Shut Down Over Threat: ‘Rid The World Of White Devils’ Jim Treacher 11/30/2015

While I was gone last week,* apparently the whole world went back to blaming entire swaths of people for the actions of a lunatic. When Islamic terrorists kill people, the real victims are Muslims. But then the violence is committed by a guy who may or may not be a right-winger — but he probably is, so let’s just go with that — it’s entirely different.

Well, it’s time to go back to not blaming an entire bunch for one bad apple. Jodi S. Cohen and Lolly Bowean, Chicago Tribune:

An online threat to kill 16 white male students or staff in retaliation for the shooting of Laquan McDonald forced the University of Chicago to cancel classes and close its Hyde Park campus Monday, the Tribune has learned, and one person was taken into custody in connection with the threat…

On Sunday morning, a New York resident called the FBI to report a comment he saw on the website www.worldstarhiphop.com, posted in response to a video clip from the 1995 movie “Panther.”

“This is my only warning. At 10AM Monday morning, I’m going to the campus quad of the University of Chicago. I will be armed with an M-4 carbine and two desert eagles, all fully loaded. I will execute approximately 16 white male students and or staff, which is the same number of time McDonald was killed,” wrote the commenter, who posted with the initials “JRD” and a Chicago Bulls logo, according to the police report. “I will then die killing any number of white policeman in the process. This is not a joke. I am to do my part and rid the world of white devils. I expect you do the same.”

We can’t blame Black Lives Matter for this, because it’s just one person. Plus, most likely he’s black, so holding him accountable for his own actions would be racist. And we can’t blame anyone else’s inflammatory rhetoric, because that only counts when it benefits Democrats politically.
I blame myself. I’m white, so I deserve bad things to happen to me in response to every bad thing that has ever happened to a black person. That’s social justice. It’s just like real justice, except it doesn’t matter whether or not the people being punished have actually done anything wrong.
