A 10-Year-Old Peeked Inside His Garage. Now This Cop is Being Labeled a ‘Racist’ By Parker Lee (1 day ago
A controversial case from Massachusetts is raising questions about privacy and freedom of speech after one family got a look inside their neighbor’s garage.
WGGB/WSHM reports that it all began after the family – while on a walk through their neighborhood – passed by veteran police officer Dan McCarthy’s home.
They took a picture of what they saw and posted it to social media:
When Lindel Hart and his husband, Rod, saw the Confederate flag hanging inside Sgt. McCarthy’s garage, it left them feeling unsafe, Lindel explained:
“This is a symbol of racism…It’s perfectly legal, and I understand freedom of speech, but with that right comes responsibility. They add that it “undermines” the idea that they’ve tried to teach their adopted 10-year-old son, Hugh – that he is “safe here in Greenfield.”
If it was just any neighbor, we’d still be upset, but not like this…He’s a police officer. That holds more weight.”
