Cleveland Police Investigating Black Teen’s Attack on 10-Year-Old Girl Drop ‘Hate Crime’ Allegation "POSSIBLE" ??
Cleveland Police called the assault of a 10-year-old white girl by a 13-year-old black girl a “hate incident,” according to a police report. Now, officials are backing away from the claim and saying the attack wasn’t a “hate crime” after all.
In the incident recorded on video, the 10-year-old girl was riding a scooter when the 13-year-old suspect punched her and knocked her to the ground, the victim’s mother told detectives.
The older girl then proceeded to repeatedly punch the victim for about 12 seconds, calling her a “cracker.”
Some witnesses recorded the incident on their phones and handed the evidence to the police.
Neighbor Jessica Jaworski saw the attack and said, “Cracker. She called her a cracker.”
Many believe the attack looked planned because the phone camera was already rolling before the attack began and a voice behind the camera can be heard calling for an end to the attack, saying “Aright.”
When reporters went to the house, a woman at the attacker’s home said, “Nobody was waiting. I don’t have to talk to you. It’ll all come out in court.”
The victim’s parents say they want justice and that their daughter did nothing to provoke the attack. They say they even tried to go to the girl’s grandfather first before calling the police but to no avail.
“The little girl next door taunts my daughters too,” said a neighbor of the attacker. “She tells them she doesn’t like them because they’re white.”
So what do you think? Is this a hate crime? Why do you think the Cleveland Police Department dropped the hate crime allegations?
