Mountain Lion Attacks 6-Year-Old California Boy          CUPERTINO, Calif. — Sep 7, 2014, Authorities in Northern California searched for a mountain lion that attacked a 6-year-old boy Sunday as he hiked with his family near a winery.The boy was expected to recover from his injuries, which were described as moderate, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said. The boy's name and details of his injuries weren't             
disclosed, but he was recovering at Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara County.
A 911 call came in at about 1 p.m. PDT reporting the attack about 2 miles from Pichetti Winery near Cupertino, Stenderup said.
"We don't know the exact circumstances of the attack," Stenderup said, adding that investigators were still gathering information.
Trails in the area have been closed. The boy and his family were hiking on land owned by the MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District, which buys and protects land in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The sheriff's department and California Department of Fish and Wildlife will look for the mountain lion until sunset, Stenderup said.
